So, Kael has said on multiple occasions that one time sale items in the dilithium store do nothing to correct the dilithium exchange imbalance. My idea was to offer different flavors for set weapons you already own for sale in the dilithium store. Plasma damage trilithium omni, wide angle polaron Disco rep dhc etc. These seem like they'd be relatively quick and easy to release from a dev point of view while still offering new gear and build ideas for players.

My question is if the intent of changing the Phoenix upgrades is to make people use more, thus spend more dilithium on upgrades, wouldn't offering new items that need upgraded further the demand for Phoenix upgrades? I'm just curious if you can see a spike or even a sustained increase in demand for Phoenix box purchases when new weapons or gear are released.

The ability to craft hybrid weapons (phased tetryon, polarized disruptor etc. Those old ones that are basically not available any more), modify and upgrade them should increase the demand a little bit in my book.

What I don't understand is why STO does so little with it's actual drop items. They only release more ships and bundles in the hopes of getting a dent in the market and it obviously doesn't work. If that is not by design and 'fixing the dilex' is actually undesireable. If they're serious though I'd suggest doing something like what you suggested or as I did - add actual weapons to the game that require dil to craft or upgrade.

I'll pass this on to some bug hunters. Far as I am aware all of the old Feature Episode Series missions that were once part of the main story should unlock at lv 65 in the Available tab. I've been able to play those on newer alts in the past. While I haven't done so recently, they should still be... well... Available. One thing I would suggest is maybe flying to the Defera sector and seeing if there's any pop ups from maybe Ambassador Sugihara or anything in your interacts.

If there is any further discusson on this, please take it to a new thread, and if this is indeed a bug, said thread can be moved into the bug section. Until then... lets get back on track please.

    Hi Kael,

Since communicators were added to the Discovery era Starfleet transporter effect three years ago, two issues have affected those characters.

    - Discovery Starfleet Away Team - Initiating Transport -
    image]

First, when beaming, all members of the away team pull out their communicators, as illustrated above. This is unusual due to the fact is doesn't happen with TOS era officers.

    - Discovery Starfleet Away Team - Before and After Transport -
    image] image]

The second problem is that once those Discovery officers have used the transporter, their open communicators remain attached to their left hands until a map change occurs.

Since this creates some interesting visual issues when using other equipment, (rifles and floaters immediately come to mind) I'm hoping you can refer it to the department that's best suited to look into it. I know I'm not the only one who has been hoping to see this fixed for quite some time now.

    Many thanks.

Fed captains have to complete the entire "Klingon War" story arc, through to "The Galaxy At Large" before the major story arcs in the "Available" tab unlock.

Feds only need to complete the wrapper "Galaxy at Large" to unlock Cold War, Lost Dominion, etc.

Story content feels a bit drip fed over recent years, I would like to know if it would be possible for more resources to be devoted to the single player story content? Maybe I'm just being selfish because I don't play TFOs or engage in fleet shenanigans and I am well aware that "the grind" is what keeps the lights on but the world doesn't feel very alive between content drops.

Will the Borg get access to Assimilated Plasma weapons at some point, like how the Tzenkethi and Hirogen have access to their own variants of Tetryon?

one thing that REALLY bugs me.. non- uniform uniforms. My Romulan has access to the racing uniform, but none of the Boffs do. WHY? to make it better, i ended up using the picard star fleet uniform for the boffs, except one, she seems to be locked into KDF uniforms.. WTH??

Ok, so it seems like there's a lot of graphics and game play questions so I'll throw in a meta question. If there was one STO arc you guys would like to see written into a star trek series plot which would it be?
  • angrytargangrytarg Member Posts: 11,005 Arc User
If you grant me a second question: I'm actually a fan of the Deferi and find it a bit disappointing that they don't play a bigger role in the game. I have long had the suspicion that much more was planned for that original species in STO. My question is, prior to the inclusion of the Romulan Republic and when PvP was still a big part, were the Deferi going to be playable as a subfaction that had to choose an ally?

Why has there never been a Klingon themed lockbox, or widely available klingon holo-boffs?

Discovery has like 6 lockboxes, the Borg have their own, the Nak'ghul have 1 and they were only in like 4 episodes.

Can we get Holo-Grilka, Kurn, Kahless, Gowron, Martok?

Will there be an opportunity to expand current sectors, especially the Delta Quadrant? Surely there's alot of stories to be had without having to 'wait' for Canon to open them up.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? First off thank you for bringing this Q&A back. i have been playing since start so my question is will, we ever be able to choose to leave our Captains on the ship and allow our First officers to lead the away missions in game. i know this was a possibility tossed around a long time ago but i know a group of us in fleet have been talking about this and would love to see this happen. also, would it be possible to allow our boffs that can't be changed in tailor be at least aloud to wear the uniforms of our choosing to look more like our crews. Thank you again for bringing this back...

The community has some very legitimate issues, None of which where answered in the last Q&A.
This game is absolutely falling apart there are broken parts everywhere, loadouts, perks, glitched outfits and levels, textures that are busted up and jank. Some of these issues have existed for years now.

whats being done to address this and many other gameplay issues?

This is an interesting question, and it would be nice to get some official clarification about it.

I do remember though at the time of these discussions and promoting boffs to captains, one of the major concerns was that it may open up ways for characters to play Androids or other boff species that were banned by CBS or otherwise not intended to be player species.

The last I heard these discussions are what gave rise to the admiralty system, so I believe that Cryptic feels the admiralty function fulfilled the intent of having our admirals command fleets of ships.

On second thought though, Kael has said that the new character replacement technology that has been used in some of the recent missions where we play characters other than our captain—this technology could allow us to have bridge officers or characters who are not hominid like Undine or Tzenkethi. It could also potentially maybe do something like you are envisioning allow us to play a prefabricated version of our bridge officer temporarily without overwriting our main character.

Silence does not always mean passive diversion either, it can be that they simply do not have enough information to answer the question yet and do not want to possibly kick off a storm by giving too quick an answer that could be interpreted as a hard commitment instead of a vague possibility. And to be fair, that very situation has happened more than once in the past.

even "we do not have an answer/solution for that" is a better answer than ignoring the question
