Plus, I'm not sure what data they're looking at, but "when people start getting close to the current one"? I've already been maxed out for months.
Probably when the majority of the entire playerbase gets closer. Personally I'm hoping to hit the 600 club before then but I'm not doing it every day and I'm not doing every single one that pops up either. Just the ones that are easy to do.
Started the year at about 130 but am up to endeavor rank 150 now
Pity. This ship needs a revamp, it's (AFAIK) the only ship with no universal stations. Which severely limits what you can do with it.
There are plans to make T6 versions of all of the T5 ships eventually
Great. I hope the old Star Cruiser is one of the first. It almost has to be, as there really aren't that many non-T6 ships left now that we have them for the Atrox, the Vulcan ship and some other ones that took longer than the others. I think the Tempest and the Star Cruiser are in fact even the only ships remaining without a T6 version?
Honestly though, they should've given this priority. Look at how many versions we have of ships like the Galaxy, Intrepid, Defiant and Constitution. I get it, these are probably big sellers and really popular ships - but it seems kind of hard to defend redoing each of those multiple times when there are more original designs remaining that could've have received an - yet again more original - upgrade as well.
Cryptic plans for a new endeavor cap when people start getting close to the current one. Kael doesn't know if a new endeavor cap will be soon, but they have plans for an extension of it
This is unnecessary. We don't need more power creep, and we don't need to widen the gap between new and older players even further. Something more original should be thought of, or at least let players collect other things than combat effectiveness bonuses through the Endeavour system if you're going to keep expanding it. Cause at some point it will only mean that new nerf rounds are going to be necessary and that just seems rather pointless, doesn't it?
It depends what they mean by expansion. If they mean higher ranks that's unneeded power creep. If they mean expansion as in add new powers that is very much needed. Take Carriers one of the core ship types that have been completely missed in the endeavour system and get very little benefit. We badly need to Endeavours that boost Hangar Pets, Summons and help Carriers.
The multiple T5 to T6 tradeup thing has ramifications that go well beyond just ships and could have very severe consequences on the exchange. The T5 ship market on it would probably see a quick buying frenzy with skyrocketing prices then a total collapse. The T5 prices would most likely inflate well beyond their play value (unless perhaps the devs made all T5s scalable like T6s are, though it is an iffy solution at best), and if that happens they would in effect become just another way for top market moguls and whales to get T6s.
Another effect if that happens is that T5U upgrades would take a big hit and lockbox behavior would shift in possibly undesirable ways since the whales and the moguls would get full up on T6 ships faster and the whales would buy keys and open boxes less often as a result, so scarcity would cause a big surge in prices in other parts of the exchange like weapons and whatnot.
I'd say a better approach would be to trade them for account-bound keys. That gives you another *shot* at a T6 ship, so it doesn't completely undermine the existing lockbox economy. But ultimately you can get something useful or of more value than a T5 ship.
I don't think this would be a good idea.
We need more certainty, not more opportunities at winning something. Or else only a handful of people will have to keep supplying stuff to everyone else and prices will never become more reasonable, keeping most stuff out of reach of the ordinary player.

The most severe consequences would be a lowering of absurdly high prices because higher chances of winning (a part of, if you get a T5 box of which multiple can be used to get a - bound if necessary - T6 box) may mean more people trying their luck and opening boxes. People would still have to open boxes to get a T5 box after all - but since the chances are better than a T6 and you can thus have some reasonable hope for a ship AND getting some other potentially useful stuff out of those boxes, more keys would likely be used instead of fewer.
The problem here is two-sided:
1) The T5 ship boxes are useless because there's nothing of value in them - so those keep laying around. I'm basically just saving them in case they ever put something good in them, or implement the mentioned trade-up feature.
2) Prices for most lockbox stuff are too high.
Both would be solved if those T5 ship boxes were made more useful, and I think up-trading is a good way of doing that.
And, for the record, I say this as someone who has opened hundred of boxes in the last couple of weeks alone - and who has, as a result, tons of things laying around for which I just don't find the time or energy to keep selling it. I would more likely lose money on this change than I'd stand to benefit from it, but I truly believe it would be better for the overall economy and be an improvement to the playerbase at large.
Prices right now are just crazy for things like consoles, some kit modules, Boff abilities or Doffs - they cost even more than most of those T5 ships. Or perhaps not crazy, cause it's the result of too few people being given incentives to open lock boxes. Which is changing with releasing more interesting lobi things, but making the T5 packs more interesting would likely also help.
I agree that their prices might go up - but players need multiple Boff abilities, consoles and so on and usually only one special ship for a toon - at least that's my approach, cause each new special ship will just devalue the ones you already have because you can spent less time in it. Either way, if prices on more stuff were lowered and rose for just a handful of items, the overall impact would still be positive for most people.

I reached 600 only last week.
That's mostly because there were a few months where I couldn't play as much as I'd would have liked. With the exception of such special periods of time, I log on and do endeavours almost every day.
I wouldn't be surprised, therefore, that most players who don't treat this game as a second job that they absolutely must be active for every day when able (like me) aren't as far as you might think. I know a lot of people who take prolonged breaks from the game or who just log on maybe once or twice a week, but certainly not every day.
So I think there are in fact many people who are still far away from 600.

They might be waiting a long time then. I’m at 400 and have all my crits, shields, run speed and turns maxed out. I’m in no rush to level out my Damage resist Gamma anytime soon.😂
It seems like it might be better for them to create a new system instead. But who knows.

I would support an Endeavors revamp but not a new system though. As for me I am far away from 600. I don't do endeavors every day. Especially don't tend to do them during Summer and Winter Events.
