New dance VO is sharply inferior to old VO imo. I have seen not one comment in this thread or in in-game chat that prefers the new VO. There's bound to be one since I don't play 24-7, but it appears to be a landslide loss for the new VO. As for the other dance caller, he needed improvement, again imo, not missing him except --- he was also Better than the new girl VO.

Why not have the former VO person join SAG, if that is the problem, for whatever the minimum level required that would be necessary to clear that hurdle, and restore the old VO. Her performance certainly exceeds the new one by a margin sufficient to warrant consideration as a VO pro. Or just get somebody better, and better directed, and replace it again. We can pretend she had throat cancer, and the third version is post-surgery and rehab, but with a return to a happier attitude and enthusiastic party feel.

First, Zero is no longer with STO. Second, getting a SAG card is no easy feat. Plus, it's expensive, and their are annual dues as well. One does not simply walk into Mordor.

New SWIMWEAR. I love baseball, used to have season tickets. Enough with the baseball, or NEW SWIMWEAR in addition to a , singular, baseball item. It is a Beach Resort! I have never ever in real life seen someone surfing in a Baseball Uniform. I saw some baseball uniforms the first year. A few. I have seen ZERO baseball outfits in game this year. I have never seen anyone in a casino in a baseball uniform. Not Vegas, not Shreveport, not New Mexico, not Oklahoma. In fact, if any actual pro player was seen in uniform in a real casino the player would probably be suspended and fined. So, no baseball at the Dabo table either.

    Dude said Shreveport. 😳

Why in the world did they get rid of the male dance instructor, why can't we have equality?

Probably didn't want to have to pay another SAG actor to do his new voiceover, which also would've been required for the same reason as the female dance instructor.

I tried to do one dance. one. got there, heard Get out on the dance floor, then nothing. could not hear the dances called, so it was TRIBBLE it time nd I just did the flying high thing. no sandcastles, the audio for dancing Borked, can't wait for this grind to be over

You have to click the "I wanna dance" button to actually join in the Dance Party. After doing that, then you should hear the dance instructions.

So... the reason we have a worse performance for the Dance Instructor, is because of some kind of red tape caused by a guild or union system that's supposed to make it so that we get better or more professional performers? The game developers had to get a new voice actor, even though they already had one we liked and the game files existed for, because they wanted to add voices to different characters?

Maybe it's because I'm old, maybe I'm getting senile, but that doesn't make sense to me. Why would they have to replace voices for characters already made and voiced in the game, if they wanted to add voices to a different/separate character?

Because that's not what they did. It wasn't a different/separate character. They were adding dialogue to the Dance Instructor. Specifically, the female Dance Instructor since they apparently chose to remove the male Dance Instructor.

And yes, because they started adding actual Star Trek actors to reprise their roles in the game, the game went SAG, meaning no one without a SAG card can do voice work for the game now. Pre-exisitng dialogue can stay, unless they update/add new dialogue to an old character. This is why we get no new dialogue for Kurland, for example.

The oldest VOs were mostly done by developers, including the Dance Instructor. Once they started using a lot of Trek actors though they needed to become a SAG production, which means going forward they could only hire professional actors who belong to SAG. This year they wanted to record new lines for the Dance Instructor character, which meant they could either have the same character have two different actresses depending on the lines being said, or have the new actress rerecord all the old lines so they sound the same. They chose the second option, and every other game developer would have as well. It sucks, but it is what it is.

not sure why you even should have to click anything being on the dance floor should be enough. can you do the dance from the ski slope?

Thank you for taking the time to explain what, and why it, happened. I haven't heard any new/different lines from the Dance Instructor, though. I'll see about taking to her when it's not Dance Off time, and see if that's where they added new voice-over lines for her.

Using that logic, then we should never have to click/press on any of the events. Just be on Risa and be automatically entered into everything?

Because it's essentially a mission, and every mission must be accepted before it is done. And you don't get the "I wanna dance" mission pop-up unless you're on the dance floor.

I'd rather take a vacation to Hoth! UK weather conditions are thoroughly awful today as they were yesterday. Looking at sandy beaches in warm temps on Risa, ugh...

I might feel differently tomorrow or in a few days when it's far more cooler. Never liked warm temps and never will.

All the same, you all enjoy yourselves. now to find a nice refrigerator to climb into..
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

Jellyfish is now good to go.

Sadly due to the UK being all sub-Saharan currently I can't try it yet, having my console melt would not be great.

Does the UK not have air conditioners?

UK weather tends to be a lot more cooler during much of the year, a lot houses don't come with AC as it's not needed so when a heatwave of up to 40.3'c comes through (which is a first in the uk by the way and it happened today), unfortunately that lack of AC comes back to be a big problem for those days where such a heatwave happens. last night temps were up to 25'c outside, it was uncomfortably warm inside (closer to 30'c) and waking up this morning i had a massive headache and needed to change the bed sheets because i was sweating a ocean, so opening a 1 litre bottle of cold water, i drunk all that within 10 seconds flat.

You can setup your own AC for the house, the problem is that it's very expensive to do and dropping down to mobile AC units, you need a specific window to setup the exhaust for the unit to work properly, but not every house in the uk has the same window design so it's hit or miss how these things go. if you can't do that, you just got an expensive cooler in your house.

    What he said.

I'm in the countryside reasonably near the coast, so it's not as bad as say, London or any of the larger towns or cities. Still pretty toasty though, spent most of my day in an inflatable pool filled with ice.

I know 35 degrees celsius is nothing to some parts of the US but we Brits aren't equipped to deal with it.

    First impressions of the Jellyfish?

Threw on a basic starter build which tends to do well regardless of the ship, but i find myself struggling flying this ship.
It's not agile, not sturdy, science is not exceptional and the list goes on. Is there some niche i missed with this ship?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Well took mine for a test drive tonight... would agree that it isn't too agile. It could use a tad higher inertia rating imo.

It is big. So big in fact that if I decide to keep using it would probably fiddle with the field of view (/setregionfov space 55 is default) as with a lot of larger ships there's the feeling of wanting to zoom out bit more to get a better view of things.

The console animation that transforms the ship is actually pretty cool. The purple bubble killed enemy ships on an advanced patrol. That's kinda neat.

Used a mix of reputation, fleet, and storyline gear borrowed from a tac toon that uses phaser beams. With beams I went with Photonic Officer 2 for cooldown reduction and used the MW universal LtC slot as an engineer and went with ET1, NSB, and MAS. Since my toon is spec'd with 2 points of EPG used a Lt science boff spot with Delayed Overload Cascade.

It did fine tbh, and getting the cruiser mastery traits completed seemed to firm it up a bit. For me it's always going to be a novelty ship. It's certainly unique.
  • orangenee#2931 orangenee Member Posts: 837 Arc User
Yes, it's certainly big alright. Dwarfed my Scimitar nicely.

The issues concerning the big purple field have been covered in another topic, so we'll leave that.

It's not a terrible ship outside of the engineeritis it suffers, just OK. Just annoying when somebody else uses it in a TFO.

Will do some additional testing this weekend, but the stationary defensive mode is albeit effective a poor fit for my play style.

Had the console be open for use on other ships without the transformation it could have been useful in addition to the ion storm etc to grab aggro.

I doubt I'll even fly it. Pyrrha finished the grind. time for her to get her green butt back on patrol

Jellyfish Ship is great! Try it for Counterpoint (park over DS9, and everyone else can deliver assault teams for tons of marks, and also burn Terok Nor), or Iuppiter Iratus (park at Jupiter Station, and everyone else can focus on closing rifts to get the TFO done ASAP). There are probably more situations where the huge diameter of damage and healing, along with you spamming your Space Magic, will be of good use.
