MUDD Lost in Delta Price?

mledelen#6118 mledelen Member Posts: 23 Arc User
Really, who will spend $300 dollars for this? Regularly $600 dollars? WAY to pricy. This is a game, and the ships in there are no better than the free ones or the cheaper ones.

I do like the Vaadwaur Juggernaut, and the sale price for the "basic" bundle is $150, but for me it's still a bit much. The other ships aren't all that interesting and with prices skyrocketing for everyday items, there's no way I can justify spending that kind of money.

I would have liked to get the Benthan cruiser since it is one of the few ships from VOY that I did like, but no way at Mudd's "sale" prices.

The Vugg and the 2xT6 coupons are honestly the only things potentially keeping this bundle afloat. (~$50 per 2 T6 C-Store ships is roughly the same as a 20% sale, but can also be used to 'pre-purchase' future ships or given to friends/new players as gifts/prizes.)

The Hazari(lobi) and Krenim(lb) ships are ancient and really only worthwhile for thematic builds(their consoles are restricted and traits are largely irrelevant).
The Undine Kiwavi is both a lobi ship and a fairly unremarkable command cruiser; console is restricted and the trait.. has better alternatives.

Keys and Lobi are obviously a thing, but don't enable any account-wide unlocks, obviously.

If you're going to be putting ancient ships in these bundles, the least you could do is update them to make them more attractive purchases - as I recall, the Hazari was from that brief period after DR where even premium ships weren't guaranteed full spec seating - and therefore mechanics alongside them.

And get rid of those damn console restrictions - nobody likes restrictions that don't make sense.

Lastly, buff the traits AND make them useful (because just boosting numbers doesn't always make things usable).

This will be a hard pass for me, same as the rest.

Mind you this price is actually funny, given the contents. Effectively one ship to choose from (arguably the Undine ship I suppose).

Still 50 British quids(give or take) even with 75% off.

When I saw the Jugg, I thought, "Oooh!" but then I checked the rest of the ships in the bundle and thought, "Meh." They're not bad ships. They're just nothing special either. Certainly not worth the Mudd bundle price of admission. Granted, it can easily run the bundle price just to get the jugg for one captain, so I suppose if you're looking to fly that ship on many or all of your captains, that might be considered a good deal.

I got the bundle and had the same thoughts. I did got the Undine Ship and 50 keys with it because neither of the other ships had anything good using. The Undine Ship is just for an experiment because of the aux to dampener trait. I think if it wasn't for the Juggernaut I would not have touched this bundle at all.

C-Store Inc. is still looking for active members on the fed side. If you don't have a fleet feel free to contact me in game @stegi.

I'm more honestly surprised, that SEVERAL or all Mudd's Items that show Purchase / Buy with ZEN; even if you've earned them from Events, a Promotion, or some other means...

Be CAREFUL with Mudd's he is perhaps not a Ethical business person. I honestly wished they would change items that were unlocked by other means, show Available / Claim instead. CSTORE always updates to Available / Claim, yet Mudd doesn't also follow that rule.

Maybe it's comical reference, similar to how his normal prices are far higher than typical... ...just not sure?

Given you get 3 choices from all previous single character ships that are claimable account-wide; these bundles are a very good value. Do I think the normal price of the MEGA bundle is a bit over the top, I guess that depends on the individual.

If it were any other ship, the bundle wouldn't be worth a second look...or even a first. The Jugg is carrying the entire bundle, which, to be fair, isn't a bad thing, considering it's one of the best ships the game has. What's odd is that they choose such lack-luster ships as *SINGLE* ships to go with the Jugg. The Voth are a Delta species, and there are Voth ships they could have added to the choices to make the bundle a bit more palatable. Account-wide IPO, anyone?

They could have added a T6 version of the Bulwark, and a lot of people could have been interested.

If they had at least put the Kobali Samsar in with the Jugg (and even better if the Benthan cruiser was added as well) I might have considered it, though my budget still would probably not stretch far enough. I had been trying to get the Samsar for my Kobali captain for quite a while and the Elite token has not turned up on that account in all the while the phoenix boxes have been a thing.

Not saying the Imperium is a bad ship but maybe the Annorax would've been more desirable, I would've more likely got it then.

The Annorax was already part of another bundle - I don't see them putting the same ship in two different bundles.

It's a good value compared to normal gamble boxes if you want the Juggernaut. You'll need to open an average of 100 promo packs to get a single-character unlock for the Juggernaut, and each opening is a separate 1 in 100 chance so it could take 1,000 boxes if RNG hates you. This is a guaranteed account-wide unlock.

That said: I only open gamble boxes when I need lobi, I don't like the Space Barbie looks of any of the ships, and I don't care about the trait. So none for me thanks.

These bundles at those prices are wildly successfull, otherwise they wouldn't offer them. Absolutely ridiculous prices in my opinion and some others, but amazingly great deals and must-haves for a whole bunch of other people that justify offering those. And finally, "event exclusiviety" pays for Cryptic after years of mystery pig-2.gif

That being said, while I can see the Kelvin bundle being a good choice in terms of gameplay value, I am wondering why the Delta one is also a "large pack" - it's a lot of money for the one good ship in it.

This. I always wanted to complete the Kobali set but didn't want to use a token on the ship since it appears quite "meh". But if they included it in this set I may have been tempted.

Well you know folks you could all just vote with your wallets. I think this is pretty clearly the worst value mudd pack they have ever offered. Not that any of them where fantastic value when you consider they want $150 for a few digital items. You could sub to other games for a year... you could buy a two or three complete AAA titles. You could put half a tank of gas in your car. Or you can get a couple little digital ships.

Cryptic is selling I think the very first lobi ship this time... which has been power creeped into being worse then freebies. Vote with your wallets. Just don't buy it. I think Cryptic needs one of these packs to flop hard. And heck they might not really care.... if the plan is to put all the gamble ships into mudds, then they are going to have some stinkers.

They don't care; they're going down the line and adding ships that are no longer popular (or never were popular) as well as some "want" or "must have" ships (for the ship itself or their traits). Besides, even if one flops, they have plenty of other bundles available.

This recent shift to adding highly demanded ships like the Jugg and S31 BC seems to also be a bit of a counter to Gold/Item Sellers who sell the ships for about the same price; both of which are slightly cheaper than in-game market rates. With this, Cryptic now sells an account-unlocked version + 2 to 5 extras depending on bundle, and keeps the money instead of it going to Gold Sellers.

Personally, I'm hoping for a pair of Mudd's Bundles with the 32C ships. One with the Kirk, Mars, Saturn, and UEDF Ship, and one with the Janeway, Book's Frigate, Courage, and Crossfield Refit.

The kelvin bundle was a great deal. No regrets on that one. The others are somewhat less so. I really wish I'd picked up the Wormhole bundle when it was 75% off for one frickin' day. That would have been worth the price.

Yes, also the temporal Bundle is not bat at all.. i have the Kelvin, and no regrets!, i'm waiting for another bundle that draws my interest, nothing so far..

Adding 100% to the "normal" bundle price is far too steep even for account unshockable Promotional ships. This is going to have to be the 1st bundle of this nature that I skip.

The mega bundle option is only there for those few players who want to buy the normal bundle twice. I can't imagine there are many people willing to do that, but anyone who is gets all eight options instead of only getting to pick six.
