I think it would make more sense to have it be a standalone T6 cruiser with a sci bend, rather than a bonafide sci ship.
We already have the T'Pau as a T6 Vulcan sci ship. What we need are some Vulcan escorts and cruisers.
Maybe have it as hybrid that switches, like Science Destroyers from Sci ship to Tac ship, but Eng to Sci instead?
Edit: Thinking back to a dev talk in a Livestream about the Science Destroyers, they said that to disable weapons, which seems likely needed as a cruiser is 8 weapons, but a Sci ship is max of 7, the devs said that the item disabled has to be unique (like a Experimental Weapon) to work the way they have it setup on them. Which is why the Dyson Destroyers' front cannon hasn't been broken out as an item. So, that idea may already be out of the running.
I do like the idea of having it be a cruiser instead of Science ship though, but I can see people wanting it as an update of the D'kyr too.

The fact that the D'kyr is a science vessel in STO is one of the weird changes from the show where it was a mainline combat cruiser, though it could be explained as the old cruisers being repurposed as science ships considering the age of the design by the time the game starts.

Not really. There weren't really such things as 'science vessels' in the show. There were just starships of various classes. The Enterprise D could do science as well as any other ship around at the time. Starfleet ships weren't grouped into Science, Engineering and Tactical.

Cruisers yeah...but I'd still like a T6 D'kyr, but Escorts? Doesn't seem like the Vulcan's style
Plus the T'pau is a event ship...not everyone can get it or wants to spend 2-3 ships worth of zen when a D'kyr would be 3k standard. Plus not everyone wants to fly a ship that looks like a fingernail in desperate need of clipping.

I could see some possibilities with the LD Vulcan Cruiser being either a stand alone ship or a T6 D'Kyr with full model swap. Its not exactly designed to animate for a Tal'Kyr shuttle, but maybe it could deploy from another location?
i would LOVE new vulcan ships, but they are most likely going to end up in boxes. which is just...bad.
The D'Kyr is a c-store ship, and all the Vulcan ships (except the Sh'vhal) people have been asking for have been from traditional Trek series and not the CBS stuff so there is a good chance they would be c-store too (though the Sh'vhal might be lockbox or promo like a lot of the CBS stuff is).
I would very much like to see the Protostar in the C-Store. Its a rare case of a tv show ship that has the look that fits STO very, very well in 2409+ era in terms of ship design. Prodigy as a series is a pleasant surprise
