Supply and Demand + Market crash. Its not a bug, its just we have way more demand than we do supply right now. Devs are trying to come up with ideas to work on it. So far the only thing that really had an effect was selling Vanity Shields for DL for a bit.

And naturally we have people who want it fixed yesterday as if you can just flip a switch and fix an in game, player driven economy instantly. And said individuals have gotten rather toxic and delving into conspiracy theories rather than accept this is a complex problem that you can't just throw a band-aid on. It will take time to fix.

There is still zen being traded, but the length of time your order will be up has been extended to anywhere between a day to a week instead of the instant we're used to when there is zen on the market.

I had an issue happen, luckily *only* twice now, where i hit the Sell Dil and it swaps to Sell Zen. The first time, i thought it was a ME mistake but now that the window is blank for dilithium, i actually got to see it swap. I was pretty p****d about it and the support team didn't even bother to read the report right. Even once they did, they just laughed it off since they won't refund zen.

I know this is a known issue with the market, but i don't really think it's as much of the supply demand as they make it seem, as that should have been an easy ui fix. They have a small team, too, so i'm sure there is considerably less fixing going on until it starts costing them income.

I just hope they can get this issue sorted, as it's REALLY obnoxious when trying to fill in gaps in income. Those times when a sale comes up or a new item hits and your *just* X amount short to buy it, lol

This is caused because there is little demand for people to buy Dil with Zen at the moment. The market is an 'oil' economy, where the oil (Dil) price depends on how much is needed and being used, therefore little usage means it's cheap or no-one is buying. There is no bug, it's just that simple. This IS costing Cryptic income, but until they can implement something new and worthwhile for folk to require to spend alot of Dil on, the market is going to stay where it is.

Unfortunate this is happening. I tried to exchange so I would have enough zen for the Agile Pack while it was still on sale, and of course that didn't happen. My listing's still up, so maybe I'll be able to scrape together enough for later. But otherwise, the other consideration is that the zen exchange doesn't feel accessible for newer players who want essential items like the account bank slots and EC cap increase. I think the devs should post something so players know the system still works, it just takes longer than it did previously.

Given that they do have the opposite - telling you that it is inaccessible on Tribble or due to server issues - yeah, they should have something like 'No Offers' for when it's working but empty. They'll probably be another sale later in November for Black Friday (Nov. 26th), so keep the offer up. Though, given the 2 Mil backlog last I looked, it might not make it even then.

Also, now that they no longer have monthly subs, the stuff meant to encourage subs (like needing an EC cap increase or giving Account Bank slots or other way) should be given out to everyone. Console doesn't have an 15Mil EC cap, and they're given two Account Bank slots, along with being able to mail themselves Account Bound items.

Agreed. I have been posting it myself, in every relevant thread, but I realize that I do not have the kind of credibility that the devs do.

A simple "This order will be filled in approximately X (minutes, hours, days, etc), based on the current rate of sales" prompt in the dilex interface would help. Maybe include a "There is currently a high volume of pending sales. Further sales will be added to a waiting list" on a tab when it doesn't have any listings, too.

Or, ideally, they'd address the wild disparity between the demand for zen and dilithium. One can hope, right?

Except there's no real accurate way to reliably calculate that time period. You could have someone that dumps 100K dil in an effective instant - and no other real large activity for a day or more. And then you'd have players complaining/submitting ticket to STO support claiming "Hey the estimate says I should have my Zen by now, but I don't - it's obviously a bug and I want my
    Zen..."

As for your latter suggestion - ys, they could and they should; BUT I think the mental/management barrier the Devs are encountering is:

"Yes, you're right..Players WOULD spend for that...but Dilithium is our free/earnable by gameplay currency, and we make no real money from that - so sell this for Zen, and find something else to see for Dil..."

So, yeah, there's no one in Cryptic marketing willing to sign off on any major/effective 'loss leader' to fix this and make a couple of really good Dil sinks to balance the current Zen demand.

The bean counters might, but we have heard many times from the Devs themselves that they are working on solutions and analyzing the effect established ones have had. Unfortunately this isn't going to be something that they can just wave a Transmuter Wand over and fix in a day to a level that is desirable for all. Right now its trial and error on what works and what doesn't.
The problem with a player driven economy is that RL events also affect it as well as in game. All we can really do is provide constructive feedback, and hope things line up.

As of right now the most successful has been the vanity shield DL sales. But that's only really a stopgap as eventually people will get the ones they want.

Then how about a non-specific but relatively simple notice in the Exchange: "Your order may take some time to be filled and processed. Please allow your offer to remain on the market for up to three weeks to complete. Your patience is greatly appreciated." Something like that? It's not a solution to the actual problem, but it lets players know the system still works.

And I guess I'll just wait and see what happens with my offer. It's shocking to me how little 1.9 million dil translates to.

The system would be good regardless and an improvement on the game. It could always be there for the future if the market tanks again.

I currently keep my dil stuff full with 5 orders for 250 zen at all times. They all take around 6 days to go through. 4-6 is the most accurate measure atm.

LOL I only ask for 17 Zen per day now it is fully broken not getting any. It is a shame for any new players. Dil exchange should had never gone to 500 (:

It is not "broken". You're just getting wait-listed behind all the other people also trying to buy.

Well it is Broken we broke it letting the Dil exchange go to 500, I am sure everyone should have know this would happen, but it did.

    DOOM!

I'd expect the long-time players that are lost to be ones who have stopped spending much if any real world money. The dilex at 500 is hurting pure F2P players much more than real world money players. For them, whatever dil they want is now cheaper to buy than it's ever been which is a good thing.

Also leaving are people who are just tired of the game, but they will go away regardless of the health of the in-game economy.

Nuke Dilithium and replace it with Chimerium.

Guys can we just not with the doom and gloom junk. keep things focused on the dilithium exchange and how to improve it if you're interested in coming up with actual solutions.
