When it was first released, I was a Mobius. When it was released, then a Klein. Last year I started with the Hestia, because I felt the need to have something that felt more "Star Trek" than so many of the ships being released were.
When the Franklin was released...meh, because I'd despised it in the JJ-Verse, although I appreciated the nod to ENT.
It's what I'm flying now though and I can't fault it.
It turns, it's got more weapon slots and the look of it...it's so grown on me. I would have never have believed it, but it's my ship of choice at the moment.
What's yours? What ship are you flying or do you love, which you were NEVER expecting to?
The Fek'Ihri event ships were all surprisingly fun to fly. The effort to earn them was all about the consoles for me. But then the ships themselves turned out to be pretty good.
The legendary Odyssey. I got the pack because I wanted the Constitutions, and I liked the nose art for the Defiant. but the Odyssey is the mainstay for a couple of my captains.

The legendary was kind of this for me as well, I tried it on my main because I had the legendary pack and wanted to try something different on my main but I like flying it on her.
Another would be the legendary Crossfield (aka the Glenn-class) which I started using mainly for a joke off having a DSC ship while redoing the AoY missions, but it's a decent(ish) sci ship and would probably more fun to fly if I had right tac consoles (I forgot that I had AP consoles in my previous ship, while I use phasers on the Crossfield).
For me it would have to be the lobi Walker. If I didn't have my Temporal Connie on my main... I would be flying the Walker. That thing fits my playstyle perfectly.
I find the Temer Alliance Raider a pleasure to fly. Seems very nicely balanced with a flexible boff layout. My 2255 kdf recruit has this ship as his main ride (all disruptor cannon & turret), with two other toons having phaser and polaron variants.
I was very surprised when flying Quarks Marauder Ferengi ship. Holy TRIBBLE, that is a fun ship to fly. I got it in one of the Mudd Bundles and it was well worth it. Good console layout, great boff layout, and it's just fun to fly. I'm still considering making a Ferengi char just for that ship, but I still can't stand the Ferengi look lol.
I think a lot of this comes down to builds in my experience. I had a fairly standard cannon wielding escort build for my Akira back in the day and never really liked the ship much. Then I changed it to a more canon-esque beams and multiple torps build which should definitely have less DPS output, yet its still a lot more fun for me and still performs well.
The other ship that is a surprise is the D'deridex build I put together. Its not really good at anything, and I don't think I had enough room for any real Tac consoles besides the Lorca one, but with just the right mix of things it tanks very well and does some pretty good herding using the console set and a grav well. It manages to turn well enough too, especially with a fast cloak thanks to a Romulan captain and lots of SROs. It ends up feeling like a dangerous ship even if I know the DPS output is certainly not all it could be.
While some people love the Oddy here, I have never been able to like it myself. Its just so, meh, and I can't figure a build that makes it interesting. I've never quite liked the way it looks either, no matter how I kitbash it.
for me what i try and is atm my favorite is the aspero for layout its not the best only 4 bridge officiers and a 3 for and 3 back weapon slots but the pets are amazing with the right build they do the job for you and the universal console can lvl up the pets faster
I still think both Alliance ships are really good: Khitomer & Temer. Cryptic did well on those two & am looking forward to their next Alliance ship.
My biggest surprise ship though that I've enjoyed piloting is that Elachi Qulash Frigate. I've never been a fan of the Elachi, but I really like that ship & enjoy its pep zooming around blasting adversaries.
Horizon class - (an Olympic class variant) - Research Science Vessel, the classic Goldfish Bowl.
I have the Fleet Retro version, upgraded twice to T5U-X. It's surprisingly formidable with a low-budget Megawell build, holding 6 Science Consoles.
It is not a tank by any means, but neither is it a glass cannon. Some tradeoffs must always be made with a budget build, and I chose DPS over everything else.
The biggest weakness is an unimpressive array of Tactical BOFF seats, but it's only a T5.
I really can't let go of my Engineer's T-5X Fleet Assault Cruiser......The look, the loadout.....I dunno.... I feel there are prolly better ships I could build out for him.....but I love the U.S.S. Tashkent..... lol

Of course, I've never been a fan of LTC and CDR engineering stations that weren't also specialist stations.
This, in spades. Sci and Tac BOFF powers can be used to hurt people. Eng BOFF powers, eh, at most you can tickle them a little. Speaking of solo only, and space only.
Even in a team, Eng BOFF powers are not all that useful. Six or seven years ago years ago, it was a different story. But today everything dies so fast that nobody cares if an Engie ship can boost your power or extend shields or whatever. This is why I don't like Feddie Cruisers; they have too damn many nearly-useless Engie BOFF seats.

some of this.
i got them and have enjoyed them way over many others. in fact, my main flys the most recent one, after flying the dread when it came out, and hasnt looked back since.
ive started making new toons as of late to try other ships i have etc. if this thread doesnt die, ill update within a time frame. currently trying out the first and only legendary ive bought (with saved up zen from lifer) and so far so good. got it on two different toons to see what path i want to take with it.
Likewise. I rather like the Fek'Ihri carrier. It's not the biggest and baddest ship out there, but for an event ship, it is
a surprisingly solid performer (GW3 combines well with Concentrate Firepower3). I can't say the same of other event ships I've got. I swapped to it not expecting much (like the Risian weather vessel), and was quickly impressed.
The Fek'lri Carrier is SOOO good for levelling new toons. Those little flame throwing Lost Souls would sometimes wipe out entire groups of ships before I even got within firing range.
Hmmm, I just recently tweaked my T6 Defiant...mercy never realized the ease of insane flying that ship can do. Next to my Oddie T6X, love that ship... "Tough little ship"
The Paradox, S31 Sci Destroyer and Legendary Intrepid.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
The Orion Blackguard carrier, I picked it up because it was the only Orion T6 ship in the c-store and almost all of my KDF characters are Orion, even though I dislike the look but it turned out to be quite a good ship.
Pretty much the same thing with the Europa, it was a code unlock (from a charity I think) and I was not expecting much from it but it turns out to be a fun ship.

Ithink it looks neat. the kelvin destroyer i also like.

Pictures here, somewhat kitbashed. I don't like the "pregnant guppy" hull -

My Tac main won't move out of her JH Dread carrier
