That's your nostalgia goggles talking, the TOS Constitution is a hideous ship that looks like it was made out of cardboard.
Might be because it WAS originally made of cardboard
Anyways… I’m holding on to the box for a bit as I can’t seem to make up my mind what I want to do with it…
It was never made out of cardboard, the first model was made out of lathe-spun wood, the big one that is in the Smithsonian was mostly made of aluminum, and they occasionally used a plastic model (like for the heavily damaged USS Constellation. And the interior sets were not made of cardboard either, they were made with wood, drywall, and other typical building materials for most of the set parts, and thin plywood reinforced with steel for the "wild" moveable sections.
That "cardboard Enterprise" thing is a myth started by TOS-haters (believe it or not, some college social science textbooks talk about the odd phenomenon of "TOS Contempt") to express their contempt of anything TOS.

Bingo. That's what I think, too.
Personally, TOS my favorite esthetic, looked most advanced to me. In the Discovery season 1 DVDs, you can feel the contempt the staff has towards it, I sure felt it.
As to what to expect to see at ESD? The usual: the really sought-after promo ships (connie et al.). And for ppl like me, simply the shiniest ship you didn't own yet.
Thx. It really is. One of the most gorgeous ships in game, with beautiful wing-animations, and its own, unique, and very pretty bridge. From an era when Cryptic still cared.
The J malformed and busted tinker toy as it was aspired to those bold lines, and that graceful form. It is homely, but it doesn't look a roll of toilet paper shy of utility.
I do love that we all universally and officially call it "the toilet" now. The other one still hasn't got a firm title...I still say it looks like a speculum, others a jockstrap.

Except it isn't universally, much less officially, called that by most people.
Its only a small handful of people suffering from DDS who call it that.
Nah, the small handful are those who can't see it, followed by the ones who can but just don't want to admit it. The majority are those who can clearly see that the designers have issues...or possibly fetishes that show through their work.

Sorry, but which was your fave ship design? 'Cause whichever it is, that one looks like poo. :P
How do you like that table turned?
In my opinion self destruct would have been appropriate.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
don't we have skills that support being able to use self destruct better now? Or is it too weak from defense skills. I would think PVE and control builds could use it to decent effect. Everyone even just got a skill that lets you pull all ships towards you...

The 'pancake' has always been a blite on the shipyard. It starred at the Battle of Proctologist V, iirc, but whoever thought of adding it to the game was not using their remaining brain cells. The ship was meant to be photographed from a very specific angle, so as to convey its incredible vastness. From any other free angle, the visual distortions make it a joke.
EDIT: The ship on the left is actually one of those rare angles where the you can clearly see the visual distortions were made to cater that specific onlook. From every other angle, it looks like a cartoon anvil fell on it.
When it comes to the Courage class I personally don't have any problems with the design itself, I just think it's too different from established Starfleet designs. With a different paint job it would be a pretty good 32c Kazon ship, but not Federation.

Who knows, maybe it is Kazon and they are part of the DSC Federation now. It would not be the first lore blunder Kurtzman's team made if that was the case, and highly unlikely that it would be the last. Just watch the behind the scenes stuff, almost all of the top of the heap creative people in DSC say they never watched or are not fans of Star Trek except for the movies.

its a paper plate with pylons and engines that went on a diet for 100 years.
every time i see one, or it comes into same space as me, i either go to another map or get the eff out of there.
out of every ship in the game, this makes me want to spew vomit.
I'll take even the Universe over the 32nd century Disco stuff. At least the Universe bears a vague resemblance to a Federation starship.

No, that's my preference and liking, not nostalgia.
And like mentioned, it was NOT cardboard.
probably.

I miss Self Destruct...

Now that's a cool ship!

Glass houses. You have an Enterprise-J in your sig. It looks like it was made of discarded assets from 90s Shareware.
And both looking infinitely better than what's been rolling off the assembly line at 'Speculums-R-us' of late.
I myself never said it was ACTUALLY made of cardboard, only that it LOOKED like it was made of cardboard.

A very weak table, turned very weakly.
