TEMPORAL AMBASSADOR MISSION

With every patch they release I hope that this broken mission will be fixed and I will be able to complete the story arc. And every patch disappoints me in this regard. Will the patch from November 12th, 2020 fix this mission? This mission is broken for over an year now. Don't you think it's time to fix it? I hate to see that obnoxious error message "Map transfer failed" for one more month or so.
Please, fix this mission.

    I really enjoy playing STO it is addictive and I have probably spent more on this game over the last couple of years than every other game i have bought or played combined ever World of Warcraft for over 12 years. But it is very frustrating when it seems the game developers are ignoring players who simply want a major bug fixed. It is bad enough that smaller bugs have been left untouched as they work on more and more paid content, but when they ignore major bugs it's like kicking the players in the teeth and saying thanks so much for your support and money now shut the F up.

    Can confirm this is still bugged on Xbox One. Map Transfer Failed when trying to enter the Enterprise C.

    Same problem here, Klingon character. I beamed back to my ship and it gives me the “Continue: “Threading the Needle’” option. Selecting that gives the same “Map Transfer Failed” error. This is the first time I have encountered this error - have run this mission in the past many times without incident.

    I submitted a question for a QA team twitch stream in relation to this issue. So i could assist in getting you guys a update on the latest.

    Latest report on this issue from QA is as follows (taken from a twitch stream, located here - https://www.twitch.tv/videos/810190746)

    Time stamp 14:00 - 16:00.

    This issue is still high on their priority list. However, they have so far been unable to reproduce the issue internally. Which is the main hold-up in diagnosing and resolving the issue.

    ive just ran into this problem a week ago and im trying to get somewhere with the arc team about it but they seem to be fine with this being broken. i dont see how this can be a issue so long without mention of them working on, compensation or even im sorry, just the development team has been notifed and you have to wait till they fix it.

    Yeah there is definitely something wrong with temporal ambassador...

    Today I was playing and I was at the part where you are supposed to get on the Enterprise C and it said map transfer to another universe... all of a sudden I was on the battlestar galactica shooting suicide vipers at a cylon Basestar.... it was freaking awesome. please don't fix this for like another year.

    I don't understand - I've played this mission with other characters before over the years of the console version of the game, all without incident. This is my first time running into this particular bug, but clearly, based on the comments here, I've been lucky to have not run into it until recently.

    The mission was fine until 6(?) months ago. They did a patch, and somehow it broke this mission. From what I gather, they don't even know how they broke it.
  • Can’t they trace it back to whatever patch dropped before it was broken? I’m just trying to ask in a practical sense. I know nothing about coding.

    Guys, please post which character AND faction so the Dev's can look further at it.

    It's every character and every faction.... And all that is posted a hundred times... Its not that the devs don't have all the info we can give... It's just they don't respond or deliver a fix... Not for months

    It has been broken since they moved it from the optional "Incoming Hails" tab of the Mission group back into a main story line. Prior to that the mission worked fine. It was the shift that broke it. At first you couldn't run it at all, then they got it running up to the point it is now, where it breaks trying to transfer onto the Enterprise C. This is for all chars, all factions and ALL races. You free the Enterprise C from the Clamps, Tractor beams, Power levels etc. You walk to through the walkway disabling the force fields, get the Accolade for looking at the Enterprise C (if you don't have it already) Get to the ship and try to enter, that is where it crashes with a Map Transfer Failed message.

    I don't know how much moire clearer the messages need to be. If they can't replicate it internally then play the game outside the testing machines. It is a 100% fail for everyone outside that plays the game, so I have no idea why they cannot recreate the issue internally.

    When they moved the mission, they must have missed a line of code that pointed to where the next map was located, shifting it probably means that instruction is now pointing to the wrong place, that would be my guess.

    The Dev's have not been able to replicate the bug, and they've said this publicly on a couple of occasions. If they can't replicate it, they can't find what's wrong, that's why having as much information as possible is required. It could be limited to a certain faction, like the warp animations bug for ToS toons.

    @leemwatson for me it looks like u won't understand it.

    It's like @knightmare#8708 wrote... Every info he told u one post before was told a thousand times in more then a dozen other posts...

    It's the same I've said... The devs have every information we can give... They just don't want or can't handle to fix it... And like knight said before... They had fixed it before for a short amount of time and destroyed it again after moving it into an other arc... How difficult could it be to put it back, fix it intern and bring it back... I don't get it...

    I absolutely understand, but even I can't replicate the bug on my XBOX account yet. I haven't had any trouble of a TOS, Fed2409 or KDF toon playing that mission.

    U wanna tell me that...

    You can create an new toon of any faction on ur XBox...
    With this toon u can start the "yesterday's war arc" first mission "temporal ambassador". And also with this toon u can complete the last part of this mission - boarding the enterprise C and complete the mission?

    Is that what u are trying to tell me?

    That could not be true since u are in fact seem to be the only one who hasn't this bug of a failing map issue when boarding the enterprise c.

    Ive got the Xbox one, The Xbox One X and now the Xbox Series X and it happens on all 3. I would have tried it on my Xbox 360 but STO doesn't play on that.

    Same here.

    Tryd it on my Xbox one and my Xbox one X. It's not a problem made by the console u play the game at. It's a problem ingame that occurred by the latest movement of the ambassador mission to the yesterday's war arc.

    That's why I had problems to believe leemwatsons comment that he hasn't this issue and couldn't "reproduce" the issue at his system...

    Also he seems to be the only one who hasn't this "mission bug"...

    the nerfing of this is on my One and One X as well, all toons are affected....its not limited to ANY faction....nice try tho...and yes it worked fine up until they did their weekly thing 6 months ago and tore it up and back....

    And after 6 months of waiting... It's no surprise that so much including me are pissed about the lazy ongoing with this bug...

    And always the same "the devs are working on it"... Makes me angry... 6 months I mean come on...

    It's seems it's more important to bring new ships in loot boxes then fixing long time existing problems. And yes I know that the people who work at bug fixing are not the same who create new selling content... Anyway it shows what are the prioritys...

    On Starfleet main I cannot complete mission character name professor Marci ship the carnivore race bajoran lvl 65 have tried multiple ways to remedy it to include logging on and off returning to ship and making other mission primary no avail cannot board enterprise c map fail
    I play on Xbox one

    I find hardly to believe that the DEV team can't replicate this problem on their XBOX consoles and it happens only to players. As somebody else was saying they should try to play the game on their console from home, using a personal account, and see how it goes. Perhaps in order to be able to test the story arc they introduced in the source code a backdoor for the testing team and released the game to public audience with that backdoor in place. Maybe for the testing team the game does not require them to complete the missions in sequence, maybe they can start any mission from a story arc at any time, I don't know.

    I'm playing this game on an XBOX One S. My captain is Ivan@cosminciuc and it is a Federation Tactical class captain. I do not know by heart all the traits I've currently slotted on this character. I've tried to complete this mission while I was at different levels with this character. Now it is level 65. And I've tried yesterday, January 4th, 2021 to complete the mission. I received the same bizarre error message: "Map transfer failed". Over the past months I've several times to complete this mission with this character. Every time my current ship was a different one. But I do not think that matters.

    For God sake, DEV team, please just try to play this mission on a console outside your testing environment. Or at least, you could select some of the players that are complaining about this bug, and collect detailed logs from them. I don't know, schedule a remote debug session with some of us, do something that could show that you are trying to solve this issue. The answer "We can't replicate the issue therefore it doesn't exist" is not a satisfactory one.

    While I agree with you, they have not said that since they have not been able to replicate the issue that the issue does not exist. The problem they are having is with replicating it. They might have to bring it to the core team's attention.

    Anyone thats played this game for any great length of time should be used to this and/or expecting this type of BS reply...as ive said contrary to what others say, these types of replies show they dont care about these issues of THEIR making and all they care about is putting out useless arcs to brow beat us with and the same repetitive bullcrap events because frankly, theyve no real imagination or skill...

    Ok I tried with Federation, Romulan, and Discovery characters in the Temporal Ambassador missions only to hit a "Map Failed' message. If it worked as a side story mission on consoles and can't be accessed as a main story line mission....

    HERE'S A CRAZY IDEA WHY NOT SET IT BACK TO A SIDE MISSION STATUS....

    I mean I know a lot of your development team and trouble shooting team personnel are savvy smart and creative, but don't you think it's time to honestly fix this mission story. If Star Trek Online is truly meant for the fans of Gene Roddenberry creation, shouldn't you stay true to the vision. I'm not saying has to be tomorrow, but I thing by March 2021 console Anniversary Event could be feasible.

    Use your X-Box's sharing feature and upload a video. I did it with the PlayStation (the platform I play on). If enough of us do it, they'll know it's a widespread issue, and maybe find something to fix it. I was told they can't replicate the issue on their in-house equipment, and there was a Twitter post asking players to share their experiences with the problem.
