They could have an episode like Temporal Ambassador, where at the end you get a free ship, only it's something totally mundane, like delivering body wash to Risa, and you get a T2 ship from it.
Its current Trek, its official Trek, it will get attention and will have a lot of people interested in it just because of its bad rep. So yeah, expect it in some way or form in the game. Probably even with some goofy tie in missions with the voice cast from the show that really show your crew how things are not done.
No, the Oberth actually looks like its parts belong together. This looks like it was slapped together by some drunk assembly technicians at Utopia Planitia.
I get that the show is supposed to be a comedy, but whoever is in charge could've taken some time to put more thought into the design other than "make the ship look like WACKY FUN TIMES SILLY PANTS CRAZY LOL!" There's plenty of room to play with ship designs to make something that's ridiculous but still looks functional.
If this does make it into STO, I hope it's functionally as useless as it looks.
They could make it fairly fast but skiddy instead of fast turning, and with a high defense and lots of engineering consoles but maybe not enough hardpoints and tac or sci console slots for a frontline ship, or maybe reversed hardpoints like the Ytijara-class since it would in theory be running from combat instead of into it, (and maybe a simple defensive experimental slot) to indicate a tow-and-shield utility ship that has powerful engines for towing without the expensive tactical level of engine control.
If a T6 its trait could be something centered around tractor beams (called Shake It Like A Rat perhaps?) and maybe an odd mix of engineering and sci healing points in the I to IV mastery unlocks to simulate its support function.
Just because the show's crew are goofs doesn't meant the ship class itself has to be hopeless in the game even if it takes an unusual build style and tactics to make it work as a makeshift warship (in fact that could be interesting).
As for the hideous part, it would hardly be unique in that.
Fully agreed, please GOD no! I want nothing to do with such trashy nonsense. It's bad enough we got JJ Treked

Better make peace with your dear and fluffy lords then guys. Because its a good bet we'll see her in STO eventually.
IMO the California class wouldn't look out of place with the Wolf 359 fleet. I wouldn't be surprised if they did make her out to be an older design related to the New Orleans and Cheyenne, kinda relegated to light duties like the Miranda was.
So...Star trek Family guy taking aim at the Superior Orville?
The drawing style and facial animation style make it clear that it is not a Fuzzy Door production so the humor is likely quite different since the writers would not be the same as "Family Guy". That style looks familiar though I cannot place it at the moment, along with the point-out-the-obvious arrow thing (the arrow is not a good sign, it is more of younger children's show convention than anything else, hopefully the writers did not come from the same genre background).
Still, the hype about the show is more "general audience" so the question becomes whether, despite the silly look of the drawings, they managed to balance the comedy and dramatic plot anywhere near as well as Orville.
Um, the guys behind this also have done "Rick and Morty"; so I'd expect BOTH the humor to be raunchyer in spots and more directly targeted to make fun of Science Fiction and especially Star Trek tropes. (Actually looking forward to that aspect myself as I love "Rick and Morty").

With some tweaking, it might be ok....give it more TNG era engine pods, or ambassador ones.
While those squarish engines with the silly thread spool bussards are nasty looking I don't think sticking TNG chicken-planks on would be any help at all. In fact it would make it look like a desk model on a stand that someone was playing space explorer with instead of working.
Regular round Constitution style engines (or even DSCoprise nacelles) would probably look the best, though even the hoover crevasse tool looking ones from the movie era would be slight improvement over the busy angular nonsense they have on it in the poster.
Potential names: U.S.S. Theystoleourmiddlesection or U.S.S. Weranoutofparts *hmm*
USS Cerritos, actually. If they're calling it California-class, then this would indicate that each ship in that class will be named for a California city.

Or at least cities in general. Danube class Runabouts tended to all be named after rivers. Didn't really matter what geographic region they were in.
California? That explains the Mid-century Modern design.

California? That explains the Mid-century Modern design.
It does look a bit MCM, though it has more of an art deco/streamline moderne vibe, especially in the nacelle/crossbar section. It is possible they were going for an "old" looking version of the neo-futurism style that is currently popular which, ironically, jumps over the 1960s to the earlier styles I mentioned in the first line for its retro elements (for the non-retro part the style has a sort of machine-designed look which fits the flat, notched-disk saucer). The only MCM stuff in TOS were the tulip chairs they used on the bridge when they decided not to build their own googie style ones.
The TOS Enterprise overall style was googie (which was popular in the late 1950s and 1960s) and is based on the "golden ratio" that is found in nature and is a lot smoother with flowing organic shapes, unusual angles, and often looks like it is fragile when it is really not. It has a kind of playful optimistic feel to it which is probably why the "fashionably cynical" Hollywood now avoids it like the plague:
The California's flat disk saucer with the busy surface detail and industrial style notches and whatnot is not googie, and as I mentioned earlier the lower engineering section is more streamline moderne like the vacuum cleaner and car below:

We can only infer some details from that one angle honestly. Until we get some more angles we can't really judge her fully. Right now all we know is that she's an oddball design that is more vertical than the traditional horizontal configurations, and has a galaxy style saucer, which implies Galaxy style details like phaser arrays, impulse engines, and shuttlebay.
So Turbolift down a strut, travel along a Warp Nacelle, cross another strut into the Deflector section. God help that Deflector if one of the Nacelles is blown off during combat.
Would be nice to see some animated shows with rich, detailed animation again for once.

At least it looks like they will respect the existance of bones in a body. *glares at some of the "popular" cartoons with noodle arms*

It's explicitly not a frontline ship. It's a supply/support vessel.

... hmm... could actually be fun.
Not a Oberth. A Galaxy Class and a Miranda class.
Or I should say creating a Miranda-style ship with Galaxy parts...
It looks ugly as all get out. Not Crossfield Class ugly, but damn near close.
Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
