Fleet Research Science Vessel Retrofit. When upgraded it has the four things a Sci vessel needs-
- Secondary Deflector Slot.
- Slots for five Science consoles
- Seat for a Commander Science BOFF
- Turn Rate sufficient to keep the nose pointed at the enemy. With Pilot as secondary spec, this thing turns in its own length.
I kitbashed it to use the Goldfish Bowl saucer, the slimmest hull, the straight nacelles, and I added the Medical vanity shield. It looks pretty sharp, in my opinion, and it's a nice little ship performance-wise.
In setting it up, I discovered that Very Cold In Space, the Sci skill from QWW, is very effective on a Parts Gens build, and it works well with the DOT built into the Deteriorating Secondary Deflector.
I have a character I made as a Starfleet doctor to use that ship but then I got distracted along the way and never picked it up. I still intend to get it eventually though unless they come out with a T6 version before then.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Unfortunately not. If it could use the free Horizon/Olympic class as a skin then I would, but it can only use the Daedalus which is yet another purchase, and one that would be useless to me since it is since it is so old it is pre-TOS and would not even work for a TOS captain (though Starfleet Academy still has at least one by the time TOS rolls around, sort of like how West Point had an antique sailing ship or two). And I really don't like the look of the Big Wheel (it looks like it should have ribbon streamers sticking out of the back of the warp nacelles and a thumb bell on one of the struts).

I have been saying this for years, people have ship designs they love. When one watches star trek even thought he ship is the same class they are usually totally different. It would be more star trek to have fewer designs but allow more alteration in ship.
To the devs, people will play and older design they like. This is no different than the person that still likes driving a certain make and model of car. I see many designs that while nice fall into the "Edsel" catagory where people just won't play it because of the looks. Others are like the "Pinto" that blows up if its hit.
So the ships in this game are like a bunch of cars, the difference is one can mod the car, where the ships cannot.
I still fly my D'Kora T5-U, Undine bioship T5-U, my fleet Tor'Khat T5-U....yes i know this has a T6 version but i'd need to get the fleet version, so its like an added cost and also the ship trait doesn't make it worth the cost. This is how ships have become like cars....the T6 Vor'ral is just a ship trait and skin....it is like buying the new car because it has a new dashboard but has a smaller engine. I get 400 more hit points but it has to be bought as another fleet version additional cost to get the same number of consoles.
The problem is when cars don't sell the price goes down, here they never do. Even rich people that have lots of cars only seem to drive a few all the time, and those are the ones they like most. People are just like that.
To the devs:
You had people choose 1 design for the summer ship. Those that didn't like the one chosen probably will not play or use the ship. Why not make 2-3 of the designs with the same layout and let people play the design they like?
The D'kora T5 lock box, is still the same look as the Quarks T6, or the Nagus T6. Why not just make a D'kora that the person can upgrade and change? I would much rather earn experience to change the ship I love playing and flying as the game developes over having to fly around an Edsel or a Pinto.
This would make a great end game content. Pick a ship you want to fly, mod, and continue in. That captain having that one ship.
I still use several t5u ships. By far the one I use the most is the t5u eng multi-mission explorer. I use this ship for my Tour the Galaxy build. So it gets used quite a bit. I opened a thread a few months back and Thanks to @westmetals and a few others on these boards I went from not being able to complete the Tour to I set a personal record this weekend with 4 minutes and 32 seconds left.
I think the T6 trait for Prometheus is useless, so I have never bothered to upgrade it from the t5u.
I also fly the Star Cruiser a lot. It’s my general use phaser build plus I just really like the look of this ship. I really wish they would make a T6 version but with a Galaxy aft in place of the duck tail. https://sto.gamepedia.com/Emissary_Star_Cruiser

I agree with the essence of this post.
That said, it would probably not be as easily monetized to the same degree, hence what we have.
I only have two Odyssey class ships - Yorktown and T5 operations variants. I actually fly the T5 because I like the console and boff options better. It runs great!
The T5 Vesta variants are also still great. Haven't bothered to get the T6 ones because my Aventine is still a beast.
@christian
Thank you! I had forgotten I have access to the Regent class. Which is a beautiful ship and was lots of fun back in the day. I may take'er out for a stroll tonight.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.

The Regent class is rather nice looking, the only one of the Sovereign stable of ships that is (I am not fond John Eaves ships, they all too often have no elegance and are almost as bad the DSC designs).

This fish bowl rubs me the wrong way, but perhaps this is for you then:

I know there's the t6 arbiter than can be reskinned but for some reason to me it feels like it flies differently and it's still a tough little ship.
Ah, yes the beloved old "Big Wheel" plastic trike! I remember when it seemed like every kid on the block had one of those.
