Not many, and none of them are Star Trek shows since I do not have any access to them. I watch things on Netflix and Amazon sometimes but I have been watching less and less as the market fragments and potentially interesting shows crop up (or relocate to) behind paywalls I cannot afford to scale.

I'm getting ready to delve back into the Database!

Finally a third season of the anime Log Horizon airs this October!

Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
    • Full, Story-driven, select from start 1-50 Klingon Side
    • Scrap current Lock Box & Lobi system for something more reasonable
    • Expand Dil and Rep/Fleet Marks to regular story content

It could be useful to alternate your subscriptions each month and binge watch the shows you want.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Avenue 5 on HBO. The show is a comedy about a space cruise ship that follows Murphy's Law. It includes Hugh Laurie from House as the Captain and Ethan Philips (Neelix) as a passenger that claims to be the first Canadian to land on Mars.

That is not really an option in my case, the Amazon streaming is just a side perk of the Prime shopping stuff which is needed for more than just entertainment, and the Netflix subscription is not mine, I see it mainly in family binge gatherings and whatnot.

Most of my list except for the Star Trek stuff and the Expanse are on Netflix, the Expanse is on Amazon Prime, so you should be able to watch all of it except for Star Trek stuff.

True. That post was mainly in reply to the suggestion of rolling subscriptions to different services each month in order to have CBSAA available for binging the new Star Trek some of the time, which in my case is not an option since the Prime streaming is just a side benefit of the shopping service and the Netflix sub belongs to another family member so I have no control over it.

And as I said before, the only broadband internet in the area comes from the cable company and is the same price whether I take the cable TV service as part of the package or not so there is no "cut the cable" savings to use for that either.

As for the original subject, without access to CBSAA (or the new Viacom one) my list would probably include the new Lost in Space, maybe The Witcher (it is an HBO-style fantsy show that is not too bad so far), RWBY (which was surprisingly good, season seven is not available yet), October Faction (if they even pick it up for a second season), possibly some of the Arrowverse shows or urban fantasy shows.

I do not watch much (it probably comes out to an equivalent of an hour a day or less) and there is little in the current lineup that is more than a casual take-it or leave-it thing so far that I have seen. The extreme shortness of the "seasons" does not help that either, interest has a tendency to wane over the long intervals between each block of episodes (that holds true whether it is released one at a time or all at once when there are only between eight and thirteen episodes per "season").

You don't need high speed internet for Netflix and Prime, I run both on less then 1mbps.

True, but you do need better than dialup for gaming and I do too much of that to go back to dialup. And here it is either cable or dialup with no other services available except cellphone data plans which would be many times more expensive than the cable TV based internet.

When federal support for high-speed internet infrastructure construction was killed in 2000 it left huge numbers of people without broadband at all in the US (while many of those areas now have cell data coverage, and fewer have WiMax, it is not practical cost or latency wise for much more than phone apps and maybe some streaming TV), and others (like me) with only one land-based broadband provider available (and a monopoly is rarely good for the customers). It really needed to be treated as the new public utility of the times since the private sector does not build infrastructure everywhere, just those areas that have a high enough profit potential.

Anyway, this is getting way off the subject so I will leave it at that.
