Romulan Promotion Blues: Centurion no promotion & Romulan Ambassador?

WHY?

First you just found Dewa III and upon returning to the Flotilla you speak to D'Tan, he advised you speak to Temar to turn in the mission. That's when you get promoted to Centurion (10) yet, the Promotion to Centurion wants to occur on New Romulus.

PROBLEM:

You go to what is now titled New Romulus System, yet none of the planets have been given a name yet, so you can't enter system space... ...now it's been years since I first created my first two Romulan/Reman toons, yet I recall most promotions 10, and 20 possibly occurred aboard the Flotilla.

UPDATE:
The Promotion of Centurion (10) only requires to go to Port to acquire a Ship. You never speak to the Admiral, and last I recalled your promotion at 10, had previously only required you to go to the Port on the Flotilla.

I never recalled in the past reporting to New Romulus for promotions till at least 30 or 40 perhaps, at which point we then reported to the Admiral there for promotions. But it was also a long time ago...

So I'm unable to claim my free ship upgrade at level 10 at least.

Just as a FYI to you & the team.

Well I'm moving on skipping on my Promotion at Centurion and will continue to progress thru missions; hopefully I won't be forced to wait for Promotion and the Ships until far too much later on.

    INTERESTING NOTE:
    • Turning Point Mission
On New Khitomer as you approach the hall prior to the last green doors where I presume D'Tan is. What you find is a Romulan wearing a more traditional Romulan Belt and leg band similar to those found in TNG Romulan Lore. It almost looks like a Tal-Shiar Belt however, as it seems similar to the later outfit unlock; though I do realize later in the mission he in deed turns out to be Tal-Shiar.

What's FUNNY however is this Romulan is wearing a Federation Diplomatic Corp's Top Jacket even though his pants are different from the Diplomatic Corps of the Federation. Yet last I checked my Romulan who is a Ambassador and Federation aligned, well still can't wear the Diplomatic Corp's outfit, and so it be nice to see that allowed.

They also seem to be late or still allowing Federation Outfit's for Reman & possibly Alien races in the Romulan Faction.

Just as a FYI to you and the team.

Ok while at first, upon making level 10 I wasn't able to enter New Romulus.

Resolves upon completing Turning Point as then the New Romlus becomes a system you can enter.

The only option is to beam down to New Romulus and no option is presented to Beam to New Romulus Command.

This is entirely strange one would think because having choosen a Faction (Federation) one could in fact Beam to Earth Space Dock. So beaming to New Romulus Command should be the first default option presented from Space; not New Romulus Staging area.
    1. What we get instead is New Romulus Staging area, and the cinematics that run with between the Reman and D'Tan, yet those only appear far later in the Romulus Story ARC.
    2. If memory serves those were mostly designed to start at 40+, though it appears they can be started earlier now.
    3. Yet it will eventually allow you into New Romulus Command, but new Romulan players aren't guided or shown where.
    4. The map for Romulans provides no clues where to go to find New Romulus Command, perhaps that's what requires an update, or information of the Staging Area map as it applies to Romulans or those in Fleet's to the Embassy.

NOTE: One would think after speaking to D'Tan on the Flotilla, after he asks you to speak to Temar, who then promotes you to 10 Centurion, when you turn in the In Search for New Romulus. One would think that would unlock the New Romulus System, and enable beam down to New Romulus Command upon entering System Space, or at least claim the Ships at the Flotilla or New Romulus Command Port area's.

The Staging Area in Romulan ARC really is listed significantly below where you are only finishing the first ARC listed at the top.

    Romulans have:
    • From the Ashes -- Second to last mission see you promoted to Centurion (10).
    • Allies
    • In Shadows
    • Wasteland
    • Vengence.
    • Freedom
    • Cardassian Struggle
    • Borg Advance
    • New Romulus - only occurs far later in the episode Arc's.

Yet at level 10 if you report to New Romulus, yet the Planet can't be found in the System in which to enter. :(

This still needs to be revisited and made a lot less confusing for New Players, something that perhaps could use a little tweaking or improvement for sure!

For your promotion: Centurion and above promotions were always at New Romulus Command. Like with Klingons, the earliest ones were coupled to both hitting the proper level AND getting to a certain point in the story. The second part often caused promotions to break, eseecially during Double XP events. They decoupled the story part from promotions a while ago, so now they just come up when you hit the proper level. When you hit level 10, you should get a hail about the promotion mission that has 2 choices: Set a course for New Romulus and I'll plot a course for New Romulus. The first one automatically transports you to New Romulus Command, while the second one leaves you where you are, assuming that you'll go there yourself for immersion's sake, or whatever other reason. If you have not completed Turning Point and chosen your faction, which is usually the case, only the first choice works at that time for precisely the reason that you stated.

For mission order: Very nearly every mission is available to you immediately now, if Fed or Klingon, or after you've picked a faction/traveled to 2409, if anything else. While this could cause confusion for a new player trying to do the story in intended chronological order, it does give freedom to players who've done it all a bunch of times before. I even used it to run the story backwards on a character for fun last year. The situation that you describe is only likely to happen for any player, new or returning, if they either chose not to immediately go to New Romulus for the Centurion promotion (which is the top choice, by the way) or otherwise went around exploring and entered the New Romulus system on their own.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

I never got the Beam to New Romulus Command even after I completed the Turning Point Mission, and certainly never got any option at rank 11 to beam down down to anything but New Romulus Staging area. Only then after I used the option in Staging was I able to enter New Romulus Command from the Staging area.

I never remembered having had to do that previously on my first two romulans, and while they were created years earlier around the Delta &/or Iconian era... I never remembered having a problem getting to my Promotion destination before.

    *sigh*

When they removed the level requirement for all episodes, it pushed the introduction to New Romulus to be the only choice upon entering the system for the first time. On my first few Romulans, I ran into this exact problem with the level 50 promotion mission, where I couldn't just got to Command, but had to sit through those long cutscenes before being able to get my promotion. Removing the level requirement for doing the New Romulus missions just punted that back to level 10, instead. Neither is ideal, and you aren't the only veteran player to skip past the one option to bypass the problem, you can see it in Brent Justice's video here at 45:52, if the link doesn't automatically take you to that point.
