'But to be logical is not to be right', and 'nothing' on God's earth could ever 'make it' right!'
Judge Dan Haywood
'As l speak now, the words are forming in my head.
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
I would have to say even from my causal 10-20 minutes a day I do remember the days when the borg tfo's were released, nothing was greater then surviving that borg torp once in an escort and then dying the second time. Gave credence to the saying "What doesn't kill you, usually succeeds in the second attempt." I like those things, made me feel the borg were really a threat back then, not the paper tigers they are now... lol shame. I remember quit a few of you in those days asking for nerfs and changes, that took away that glorious period in my game play. I cant forget a grudge.
Though it is fine to look back fondly on yesterdays glory, players must also remember the parts they also played in the fall of a lot of this content. From either not playing it, or begging hard for it to be nerfed or removed. Be it old borg content to the foundry and such. And now that it is gone or something is added at the request of the community it seems that many believe that the devs went about doing it on their own. Remember; when you are pointing fingers three more are pointing back at yourself. Our hands were there as well snatching at whatever jewels of the past we could pluck aswell in this heist that took away fond memories from others.
Reminds me hard of that quote
"I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams." W.B. Yeats
Would be interesting if the devs would get pretty petty as the players are and just make a post reminding players this is what you asked for that we added and this is what you asked for to be removed that we took. That would actually be worth reading if you ask me.
Though you may feel nostalgic, remember today is not like yesterday and tomorrow will be just as different. Enjoy what you can and keep moving forward looking towards tomorrow for the next great trip.
And try your best not to clamor too loudly in your actions and demands for change and "tread lightly " for we most certainly tread on each others dreams. In other words, don't ask for things to be nerfed or removed so much for you just might get it.
Hmm no one wanted anything removed but lets see what was asked to be removed.
Removal of ship Consoles (Too Op), restrictions on bridges (No idea why players want cruiser bridges on escorts but ok), leaving TFO penalty (No idea why, players would just quit willy nilly), Retrain Tokens, Remove functions from the tailor, Remove hard endeavors, Remove game content, Remove TFO's, Remove ship functions, Remove PVP (Alot of threads about this), Remove voice over acting (No idea why thats a thing), Remove Visuals from around the space docks, Remove ship effects in fluidic space.
These are just a few of the none existent demands for removal, 100+ pages of threads and this is just a hand full of them.

Infact... none of the new things have any accolade trophies... all the new enemy groups, none of them have any.
Do any of the new interiors and bridges have a way to display those trophies?
Most recent one was the Voyager interior. But it had to be made by the guy who made the trophies for the original bridges. If you look at the Romulan Warbird interior it has spots for them, but it's probably a lot harder to code when the faction is an unknown variable..

Good to know! The Voyager interiors were very well done!
Remember when everything was a nefarious plot engineered by those dastardly Iconians? Whom we never saw or had a chance to counter. Took more than a bit of the wind out of STO's sails when we finally did meet them. I always liked the style of the original Iconian ship which kidnapped Sela. The ones we have ingame now are nice. However they lack that aura of menace the one I am speaking of had.
Me personally, I preferred when everything didn't have Iconian or the current season of stuff shoehorned into the plots. Doing that ruined quite a lot of missions, in my opinion, like the KDF Grethor arc. Those were stellar before stuff was shoehorned in and those missions went through the butcher's block to try and make them flow with the current season of the game. They lost the eerie vibe of actually being in the afterlife when they were slightly rewritten to be Iconian/Hurq' caused.
the iconian in game are badly writen anyway. The only way to "defeat" them: oh! cool they can't do time travel; this is so ridiculous. burnham's mother can create a temporal suit (this is also ridiculous), but the iconian - the most powerful race in the galaxy - can't find a solution to do time travels!!!!

Iconians can't time travel because they're chroniton based life forms and the effects of time travel disrupts their minds.
It was never an issue of them not having the technology. Their bodies physically can't do it.. I don't think a fancy suit would fix that.

We never defeat the iconians. We give them what they want and they go away (except sourpuss T'ket).
it's also insanely cliched...like, entire galaxy unites to fight a massive big bad that hasn't been seen in millennia is the plot for literally EVERY 4X game in existence - at least STO did something different with the ending in addition to not having the ENTIRE galaxy unite, but a small portion of it
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
So, your solution would have been to plan for the game to end? Seems rather self-defeating in the long run. I think the way they did it was better - we brought the war to an end not through military might, or divine intervention, but by finding out why they were fighting us and removing that cause. (And incidentally punching up the lesson that vengeance is self-defeating - turns out the whole thing was a closed temporal loop caused by Sela's stupid "need" to avenge herself, and T'ket's obsession which came after that, and before that because wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.)

You mean the Obex?
Yeah - have to admit, this was a bit of an awesome moment:
I've got to be honest, that is so much tastier a ship.

I didn't know that. I just wish more had been made of it and that's why the Krenim were such a threat. It would have also been nice is a bit like the Doomsday Machine episode with the Harg'Peng Torpedo, that there had been a special Chroniton Torpedo to use against the Iconians. I'm not saying it would be like a Transphasic Torpedo was supposed to be against the Borg, but just something a little special.
I never understood why the Alliance needed the Weapon Ship to open a rift 200,000-years into the past, when time travel has never been difficult in STO...it just seemed like a waste of the ship, when I thought the danger to the Iconians was the Krenim erasing them from history with it and their temporal science allowing them to decimate their ships.
I mean, a plan of turning the Weapon Ship on Iconia and obliterating the race would have been a real threat to the Iconians. And impervious temporal shields and weapons that the Iconians have absolutely no defence against? It would have been a massive reason to destroy the Krenim first.

The Alliance may have used the Annorax for the time rift because of the exceptionally long time difference. Usually, time travel in Star Trek takes place over a few hundred years at most. Or, it could be just because it was conveniently available.
Erasing the iconians was undoubtedly the threat the iconians themselves wanted to preempt when ordering the krenim destroyed, but it would never have been a real option for the Alliance. It would've changed all history for 200,000 years. As it is, we tried stopping just the destruction of Romulus with the weapon, a relatively recent event, and even that went majorly pear-shaped right away. Exactly like Annorax's 200 years spent erasing things with his original weapon ship, never with desired result.
In the plot, the temporal weapon was always meant to be a failure, just like it was in Voyager. As well as setup for the Future arc. First as the perfect example of why you don't want to mess with history, and then as the tool of Noye's temporal temper tantrum.

I dunno about that, Big Dawg. Seems to me one requires intelligence and planning to be able run a nefarious plot at all.
Let alone run one well. XD

Oh? My bad, well let's just for kicks and giggles type "Remove" in the search function... oh my...
