I have been rubber banding and freezing like crazy especially since the last few updates. I try to play everyday for the new Elachi ship, I thought it was just the new expansion games for the elachi but its happing threw out the game while attempting to complete daily endeavors. I am in USA East coast. A gold member since 2012 and I have spent thousands of dollars on this game, I like this game because, you can play seriously or just do what ever, I have my own fleet with me, myself and I, so I buy cryptic coins or what ever they are called now to buy dillithium to complete fleet projects, and lock box keys, so many lock box keys, I have a serious problem. Cryptic do you want to keep my addiction going? Then fix this!!!!!
I have a top end gaming computer with a 300mbit/s internet connection. None, zero, zip, nada of my other games has any lag, none. Only STO.
Those claiming no lag, I just do not believe you.
One thing I noticed is when the lag hits it seems to be one giant spike followed immediately by a smaller spike. Anyone else seeing this?
Also I'm now seeing a delay in commands. For example, during SCM (Space Combat Maneuvering) I'll blip the Full Impulse (mapped to my t key so I press tt) to get to the next bad guy. The second t is not being detected about half the time, which results in me going plaid right past them :-) and I have to hit t a third time. Something has changed.
Another area that seems to be related to lag is I use 2 macros with "Target_Enemy_Near" and another "Target_Enemy_Near_Forarc 120". When I kill a bad guy, I hit one of the macros. There is a delay of about 4 seconds before they work. Usually on the first press it targets some pizza place in Cleveland (why Cryptic hates this place I have no idea :-) ) despite a bad guy being one inch away from me. Finally after 4 seconds it targets correctly.
Cryptic, more than happy to provide data to help out. I think it goes without saying we are all cheering for you. But the lag is making it hard to enjoy STO.
I also have a top end computer, and I do not play any other games really but I use it for my school and videos play fine, I am a 48 year old Nurse and have spent a couple thousand dollars on this game. But when you said a big spike and then a smaller one I have experienced that as well, I use to experience lag, but right now it rubber banding, rubber banding, rubber banding!, just continuous rubber banding. and it is making it harder to play, I know STO is free to play now, but I did buy a gold membership in 2012, which is the same price it is now, and I also buy expansion packs every time they come out except for discovery because I can not watch it in the USA with out getting another streaming subscription but that's a total different issue. and I have my own fleet with me, myself, and I, so I buy cryptic coins or whatever they are now to turn into dilithium to complete projects, but if I can not play the game I will not be doing that anymore, any of it. Oh yes I have also bought a lot of lock box keys, its a real problem with me. Cryptic want my addiction to continue? Than fix this!
Twice now due to lag and rubberbanding I have had the new patrols break on me. I fly into the correct area, rubberband back outside and the mission gets all confused unable to continue. Which leaves me no option other to warp out which sets a 30min cooldown timer going

I'm pretty much convinced this is a state-side issue with Akamai. Played for a few hours and not a jot of an issue here. UK and EU has laws for net-neutrality which the US doesn't have, and with the traceroutes I've seen US side it looks like Akamai isn't being fair with it's routing of traffic. At least people are starting to understand it's not the servers at fault.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

The end of net neutrality here in the US is probably a big part of it. The STO/Champions/Neverwinter engine seems to have slightly more control upload traffic in proportion to download traffic compared to a lot of other games and since upload is what costs money Akami might be "traffic shaping" the game traffic onto higher latency routes to blunt the control upload spikes. Cryptic's ISP might not have as good of a deal with Akami which would do it too if Akami is moving to the post-neutrality model already.
I have noticed a similar difference in the Elder Scrolls NA and EU servers, with the EU seeming less laggy despite a slightly higher response time from the distance and it could be that possible upload traffic shaping at work there too since Akami and other companies cannot be as blatant about it with stuff originating from the EU. Ping and tracert only look at round trip times as a whole and do not tell you the upload/download stuff separately and it is delays in the control signals going up that mostly produce the kind of 'button missfire' type lag that people keep talking about here and in chat (the rubber banding could be either way).
The lag and rubberbanding has been worse than usual today

Like others its only getting worse for me. On top of the two failed patrols due to lag/rubberbanding. Yesterday I shot a single sniper shot at a NPC and counted aprox 5 seconds before the hit registered, displayed damage and then died. Its not that bad all the time but it seems to be increasing how often it happens.
(no one freak out nothing political) HA my post got taken down because it was political, I knew some one was monitoring this, But no real answer about the rubber banding problem. Mr. or Mrs. monitor can you please tell us if cryptic or whom ever is going to do something about this problem, I keep reading it is a US problem. A few weeks ago or maybe a month ago cryptic put in its update about a fix for lag which they did, but then a week or two latter the rubber banding issues began. Please answer in simple terms since I am a nurse and the last time I did anything in programing was in high school and that was Pascal and qBasic.
Oh and the patch notes I am talking about were on 7/11/19 General: "Made behind the scenes changes to improve server performance and reduce the feeling of lag." which I believe did help for a while but updates since then are when large amounts of players began experiencing the rubber banding, especially the mycelial realm addition. I also have a computer that is a few months old "Omen" and I have noticed when I play mycelial realm my GPU temp goes up to 97 Celsius, graphics card GeForce RTX 2060 plenty of RAM and Memory. I also play on wireless since my ethernet connection is on the first floor but my signal is strong. Any tips on using a splitter and running it to a second floor, I also have a program on Omen that merges WIFI signal with the ethernet signal.

If anything its worse after that patch. It was better for a day then went downhill from there.
Ok logged on after patch i ran a Dyson Battlezone and got the rubberbanding/snr experience.
So until the server issues see some improvement I will no longer spend a single penny on this game. Got beyond a joke now and i'm fed up with it

Just so u are aware there is a problem with shard provider on ps4. When i try to log in it says there are no shards available.i am a lifetime member. Plz fix this ASAP
I got booted off on my F2P twice this morning, in the middle of the first space battle in Beneath the Skin and the first ground battle on the same mission. Was very annoying.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
yes it does: todays update 5 hours? did any one read the release notes practically nothing on them and nothing about the problems most of us are having.

Any internet gaming company is always at the mercy of the ISPs that give the access to be online. Then comes the infrastructure that is exist between smaller third parties that connect with the bigger companies, somewhere out there, exist a bottle necking, when that happens traffic is shifting to another gateway, that doesn't have major issues, but soon or later. That too, becomes overwhelm with the extra request for service, and they *3rd parties*, they throttle down their bandwidth, to avoid most of the time...a shutdown. This situation now has gotten worse overtime...and back then, these issues were non-existence, very minimum, almost ZERO.
But as the market expanded, the issues of maintaining the service in a decent fashion, has shown the cracks on it's growth, if there a standard setup issued by the government regulation, I suspect theses hiccups would be few or far between. Now, adding the natural disasters plaquing the infrastructure of late...the small cracks that existed before, are becoming growing chasms, and we the general public and gaming companies are at the mercy of this. Until there is a universal meeting of the minds, and the until the infrastructure is made solid enough to function at near peak efficiency at some point.
The rubber banding will continue...
The dropouts will show up...
And we continue to suffer, waiting for peace to return, without the headaches forever encroaching on our minds.
Apparently the CEO of Akamai Technologies is a big star trek fan. Maybe we should contact him directly.
Is Cryptic still a star trek fan? Since they seem loathe to discuss this topic.

I did not know that about the CEO of Akamai Technologies. As for Cryptic, lots of the people who work on Star Trek Online are Star Trek fans. Maybe there is a reason they are not discussing this. Maybe trying to get to the bottom of it. After all, ambassadorkael did ask for tracerts showing the problem. So they are aware of it.
whether this is a popular statement or not but the servers at present are an absolute disgrace. Rubberbanding and Lagging all over the place

So today i did my dilly mining and the first time i have had weird issues going on. Lag of course as well on the mine but stuff like the mini game would jump forward award me extra points i never did or while stopping to mine the mini game window opened and my character just kept walking til the asteroid got to steep. The rubber banding on DS9 is insane. I play a few other online games but the amount of lag I'm getting here in STO on a daily base I never encountered anywhere before. I guess lag of communication from Cryptic has something to do that they have no clue how to fix it. Its been going on since months and getting worse by the patches. But hey at least the sales keep coming, today is another Lockbox Key sale, its truely been a while since we had one...
C-Store Inc. is still looking for active members on the fed side. If you don't have a fleet feel free to contact me in game @stegi.

Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
