I seriously doubt that the Terrans did anything to the Defiant in that image since there is no reason why the Terran Empire would keep it as the USS Defiant and use the same registry number if it is seeing action as a warship. So that is Discovery's take on what the USS Defiant looked like when it went to the 22nd Century instead of how it looked in TOS and Enterprise. Now it is likely that it was changed into the ISS Defiant and has been heavily modified.
The USS Defiant look in that wireframe image might be a preview of what the USS Enterprise looks like in about 10 years since the USS Enterprise and USS Defiant are both Constitution class ships.
I don't buy it. You have an advanced ship for 100 years, and you don't try and put more guns on it or anything?
You seriously expect a power like the Terran Empire to not do anything at all with a more advanced starship... for 100 years?
Don't buy it.
Yes they are both Connies, but they don't have much in common with each other anymore other than base design. The Nacelle Pylons have been altered and reinforced, maybe even adding a Miranda style emitter in that joint. The Nacelles themselves look like they've been rotated 90 degrees. The unexplained cutout portions on the saucer...
The Terrans tweaked her man. And have done so for 100 years at least. Honestly the only thing I don't think was messed with was the Secondary Hull and Impulse Deck.
Never said that they had an advanced ship for 100 years and didn't put on more guns. The wireframe image of the USS Defiant was from before it became the ISS Defiant where the Terran Empire put on a ton of guns. After all, there is no reason why the Terran Empire would still call it the USS Defiant if it is being used as a warship or call it a Constitution class ship since the Terran Empire would never call any warship class as Constitution. So when the USS Defiant became the ISS Defiant, then it got a different prefix, class name, and registry number.
According to Memory Alpha, the Enterprise had a refit between 2254 and 2257 and another refit between 2257 and 2265. So we could see the Enterprise undergo a refit during a future season of Discovery to look like the wireframe image of the USS Defiant. What the ISS Defiant looks like, we don't know since we only saw a wireframe image of the USS Defiant.

The image came from a Mirror Universe database and was supposed to show how the Defiant looked after the Terran Empire got it. It could still be it always looked this way based on canon information alone, but I believe some writer or artist of the show explained it was the Defiant after modifications.

So far all that has been confirmed to have been visually retconned is The Cage (The pilot has always been on shaky ground any way). We've no indication at all that Starfleet won't have a sudden breakdown in taste by Where no Man has Gone Before.
The Defiant in In a Mirror Darkly was already retconned to the size of the DSC Conni as noted by, I think, John Eves. The 'USS' on the display could be simply because the Terrans were adapting the Defiant's own computers and things in code always have a habit of sticking around in unexpected places. It could also be that the wireframe and/or prefix are meant to be taken as seriously as the giant duck in the Enterprise D's engineering section or somebody having all the actors of The Doctor as their ancestors.

Of course there is going to be, they make a ship pack for every expansion.
Don't see one and it's up running in about a week. Lots of people thought this might be like an expansion but it does look like just a small update with some Discovery FEs.
They might add some C store ships but no real $100 plus packs like LoR, DR, AoY or ViL. They usually advertise thes a month prior to launch.
I'm really hoping the Nimitz class is made available. It's my favorite of the DSC ships.
Would you see it as a cruiser, an escort, or a battlecruiser?
I would assume Nimitz is a cruiser. It's one of the larger ships of the DSC-era we've seen so far. Plus it was the flagship of that admiral, flahships tend to be cruisers in Star Trek. Though it being made an escort wouldn't surprise me either.
Dear Cryptic,
C-Store Disco Connie please.
I seriously doubt the DSC Enterprise will be it's own ship, it'll probably just be a skin for the T6 Connie.
That would be a mistake. There's money to be made from that ship. My bet is on a T5 to T5U Heavy (For it's time) Cruiser so as not to out-shine the T6 Temporal Light Cruiser.
In anycase, I'm looking forward to a Shepard-class for myself. Potentially Nimitz as well, but definitely Shepard.
Once I see the stats for any Disco ships pending, I will decide if I will buy any of them. I still have access to all the AoY ships, which are from the same time period.
They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.

It seems that would only make sense to do if the original ship was "undergunned" for its energy supply and size, and with the same tech, you could do more. That is not a given.
Though it oculd be that you need to put on more guns because you replaced some of the original ones for studying, and you can put on more weaker guns in their place because you have so much more power than on a contemporary ship.

That I can see. In order to reverse engineer the Defiant's phasers, they'd need to take a few apart. But that leaves a powerful ship without teeth, so replace with older models, and fit more.

One interesting point in all this is that by the time we saw the Mirror Constitution class in TOS (the ISS Enteprise in Mirror, Mirror) it didn't seem any more or less advanced than it's 'Prime' universe counterpart.
So I guess it COULD be possible that, whilst they learnt enough about the Defiant to make adjustments to the ship itself, they were either unwiling or unable to reverse engineer the ship, probably because doing so would remove their greatest weapon from the field - and I suspect they couldn't afford to do that.
The issue is that the Defiant and Enterprise are both Constitution-class ships. In a Mirror Darkly obviously used the TOS version of the Defiant instead of creating their own updated version of it. We have already seen how the Enterprise looks in Discovery about 10 years years before the USS Defiant traveled to the Mirror Universe. It is possible that the Enterprise will undergo a refit to make it look like the TOS version in Discovery. It is far more likely that the wireframe image of the USS Defiant is a future refit that the USS Defiant and USS Enterprise would undergo. Since any modifications that the Terran Empire would make on the USS Defiant would make it look more like Warship Voyager than a standard Starfleet ship.

I can buy the Terrans retrofitting her to look like the wireframe image, but not the Federation.
Most likely the TOS version will be a refit that USS Enterprise will have.
Don't forget that in the Prime Universe, the Connies are not brand new ships. They're well rounded, old workhorses by the time of TOS. If we don't consider the Discovery version but take into accound the Cage version, that still implies a refit somewhere between Cage and TOS. While not quite as radical as Discovery to TOS... its still a refit. Either way, Enterprise is most likely looking forward to a refit before Kirk takes command.
Personally I like the Discovery version, as it would make for a bit of an easier refit to TMP. Shift the neck up just a bit, you got room for the neck mounted Torpedo launcer. Pylons are already swept back, so all you really need to do is maybe extend them a bit and reinforce.
Also the Discovery Enterprise looks sturdy while still staying true to the original design. And I like the blue glow from the Warp Field Grills.
Purists rage all you want. THIS is a beautiful modern interpretation. Hell... I bet 5 ECs people wouldn't have raged so much if the Kelvin Timeline used this design rather than the one we did get. She'd probably look just as awesome coming up out of Titan.
But still... she honors her past. There's room for this design in the pantheon of Enterprise alongside the rest of them.

Personally, I don't want any future Constitution refits to look like the TOS Constitution. It looked weird In a Mirror Darkly when they had a 22nd Century starship look more advanced than a 23rd Century starship. Even the uniforms looked weird when doing the same comparison.

Where there is a starter pack, there is sometimes a larger pack.
Huh... unintended rhyme.
At least it only costs 750 Zen instead of 12,000 Zen. Although, it looks like if there is a larger Age of Discovery Pack, then it would only include Tier 6 ships due to the Walker class ship being a scaling starship. Why build Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 C-Store ships when a Tier 1 ship does the same thing?

Who knows... but we JUST got a new fiction blog too that MIGHT, and I do emphesize MIGHT, hint at new playable ships. Apparently an old dockyard is about to be rediscovered by our two favorite Engineers. And its got a cache of old 23rd Century ships from the Discovery era.

Seems like a safe bet tbh, probably fairly soon too so they can catch AoD Captains looking for their next fix once the starter Walker needs replacing (looks like you could stick with it a fair bit beyond L30 with appropriate level gear anyway, probably right up to the point you're starting Reputation queues).
seeing as this whole plagiarism thing hasn't been legally finalised how much risk is there that these shiny new ships that cost real money would be removed at a later date?
until his claims have been fully dismissed or settled it seems bit premature to be selling digital content thats legally questionable and easily removed.

Well the screenshot/image with that story blog is a Nimitz Class (U.S.S. Europa in DSC) so it seems pretty likely we'll be getting that in some form or other. And seeing as that was a command flagship i'd imagine it'll be similar to the Temporal cruiser (Gemini class) e got with AoY but maybe with a Command spec twist?

His claims have no factual basis and he has such limited knowledge of laws that his suit filing was thrown out 3 times by the court because he didn't even have anything filable in it.
Is that the end of it then? he has no leg to stand on? if so that is quite a relief.

the connie looked far more advanced than the NX. Greebles and kibble does not look advanced to me.
Unlikely for now but it would be cool to have the Shepard class also as light exploration cruiser, and thus have interchangeable cotmponents with the Walker class.
Same goes, in theory, for the Klingon side for the Qoj/QatIh and Jach ship class families.
If there was going to be a Ship Pack for this Tuesday we would have heard about well before this.
