New Installation window doesn't respond

I installed STO on a new laptop and when the window opens asking for the identification code, I can't get a cursor in the window, though the textbox outline and "Submit" and "Cancel" buttons change color when I mouseover it. I can't paste the code in, either. Other than mouseover color changes, I can't get the brightness control window to respond, either. If I open the game in Safe Mode from the launcher tab, I get a cursor and can enter the code, but the butttons still don't respond.
