"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

I think this is covered in the FCT about Star Trek Online 2.

This game's engine has been updated numerous times since 2012. The last major update was Lighting 2.0, plus a whole host of Texture updates in 2016, and if I'm not mistaken a few tweaks this month or so with the inclusion of TXAA.

The game, with the current engine, ensures it can be played on the widest possible combination of older hardware as possible. A game does not need photo-realistic graphics to be considered a good game. A game can 'look' amazing but be a complete 'dog'.

hasn't TXAA been available for at least 3-4 years now? that's way older than 'this month'
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"

Dunno, saw it in the patch-notes last month, but never seen it in my graphics options.

Guys to use a new engine, you'd have to rebuild the entire game from scratch. May as well have STO2.

Considering how old this game is.. it looks pretty damn good.

The game engine got major upgrades before the console launch.

This is true, if you don't believe it then youtube some game play of STO from a few years ago and compare it to today.

The games visuals have improved by leaps and bounds over the course of it's life cycle. I have to think that at this point we're near the absolute edge of what this engine can do.. but honestly, I think it looks pretty good. The ground animations are wonky, but the space stuff looks great on max details.

The biggest problem with the cryptic engine is not that it's dated but that its made of horrible spaghetti code which ensures 90% of the game remains broken at all times.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
