I am not impressed with the mini expansion as I call it.
Yes the voice acting is good in places and the DS9 revamp looks good but this is where all the money must have went. You get one ship for Jem Hadar unless you have lock box ships or the vanguard packs. You get one mission before really having to pick if you are fed lackays or slave to the klingons I would have preferred a similar amount of levels that you did for AOY or LOR. And how many times did they use Victory is life. They could have said it once or twice but they say it to many times so I am sick of hearing it.

Although Ds9 is good it feels really small and claustrophobic removing some of the NPCs that are walking around may make this less so.

The Gamma Quadrant doesn't feel like a Quadrant again it is small and apart from the final battle it just doesn't feel polished.

The jem hadar faction (you cannot call it dominion faction with just one species) You need more species some Vorta and some other species from the gamma quadrant to be able to call it a dominion faction. Even making the C store only will give us the option to use them.

I'm just a little dissapointed with them calling this a expansion as it feels like a midseason update and not an expansion

My grades of the ViL expansion & other new content

    Episodes: A+
These are the best episodes in the game. Mainly due to the voice acting. Also, loved how there was only one unique item per episode so I don't have to play them 3 times on each toon to get an item set.

    C-store packs: A+
Excellent value as all of my characters can get all of the ships. KDF's didn't get stiffed. No buyer's regret.

    DS9 Revamp: A
Nailed it. There are too many NPCs at the moment and the true-to-size scaling makes it feel a bit cramped but it's fantastic.

    Jem'Hadar Fraction: B+
I went KDF. My nameless soldier and boffs only need one outfit. The jumpstart on stuff is great.

    Gamma Recruit Event: B
A lot of stuff to achieve on the transponder.

Deep Space Nine Lock box: B-
The Holoboffs are unique and actually have a decent chance of dropping (14%ish). This grade is in comparison to other lock boxes.

    Level Cap increase: B-
It's more of a gear level increase as it only took a couple of days of admiralty to get to level 65. It will cost a bit more to upgrade things but they did give a well timed upgrade weekend to correspond. Not sure if TP carryover worked correctly on some of my items (too much or too little) but not a big deal.

    Reputation: C
No battlezone or queue for getting the marks on the ground?

    Gamma Battlezone: C
Not a big fan but I don't really care for the other space battlezones that much either so maybe it's just not my thing.

    The Swarm: F+ (so far)
Couldn't complete it. It bugged out mid mission so everyone on the team had to warp out. The plus is for not getting a quitter penalty.

    GPL Store Update: F
My characters have enough GPL to buy roughly a million disco balls. Don't make me do this.

    ----
    Overall ViL grade: A-.
It seemed like they went quality over quantity on this expansion and I loved it.

*Notes: I didn't like the account endeavor system so I'm not sad it didn't make the final cut. I was anticipating a Cardassian Admiralty campaign. Lvl 10 repeatable reward could be something like upgrade a very rare doff to ultra rare.

That you haven't yet done this is blasphemous. In the eyes of the Founders, the Prophets and the almighty D itself, you should correct this sin.

Considering the amount of bugs cropping up and the blocked story arcs for Jems allied to FED, I am downgrading my score to 5/10!

I am not at all impressed with the Gamma recruit stuff itself, it goes against canon for a Jem'Hadar to be given that much authority and trust, so much so it is actually immersion breaking. In DS9 the Dominion treats the JH exactly like war droids from Star Wars, and in fact comments from Weyoun and others make it clear they are nothing but biotech droids "built" as low-level cannon fodder and nothing else. They are quickgrown, programed, given a weapon and sent out with no consideration at all, they are just a smart weapon system without a real personality and no authority at all.

On the other hand, the first few episodes that are open to the non-Jem'Hadar are very good for the most part. However there is a dull section very close to the start, a very long step-n-fetch sequence on Bajor that was hard enough to stay awake through even with a character I can identify with and play though the lens of the character's persona. I do not plan to even attempt that with the gamma recruit since even normally good ground stuff is tedious with the JH since I cannot get into its head at all. All I have been using my gamma for after the intro is strictly farming in Red Alerts, DSEs, and space ques and have an EV suit on the thing so I do not have to look at it when mailing the resources to my playable characters.

On the up side, the open to other factions part of the ViL episode string are good so far and the rewards are nice (the effectiveness of the ship my Fed character had went up quite a bit using them).

As expected I had a feeling this was not the end of the expansion..We are going to be getting a few more episodes as hinted in the farewell to shield of tomorow article where the new admarality ship will be on giveaway in july..

That's why I'm SOOO happy with my Exchange purchase for my Jemmie: the Holo-Loriss BOFF. She's now on my Away Team (instead of the blue-level tactical guy), and I consider that she's the leader, and the Jemmie PC blocking my view is a meat shield in front of her. How I wish there was a First Person view for this game for ground and space!

Anyway, that seems more canon to me. Wish we'd had playable Vorta and Jem'Hadar BOFFs instead, but it's at least an attempt to make the best of it.

Hehe, I went a bit further, I also got an alien that I made as a Vorta, also Sarish Minna(even though I'm KDF allied) and the Delta pack intel Orion.

For the Vanguards, it's actually should be named Bugs Are Life. And not listing them in this post since the forum for bug reports has them and Cryptic is ignoring it.

Would like to ask the dev team that came up with the gamma recruitment event..

WHAT THE HECK WERE YOU THINKING BY REWARDING OVER 600 PROVISIONS EACH FOR EVERY FLEET HOLDING?! EXCEPT FOR COLONY MOST OF US HAVE WRAPPED UP THE OTHER HOLDINGS AND DONT HAVE NEED FOR THAT MANY PROVISIONS!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!! YOU GUYS COULD HAVE MADE IT A CHOICE LIKE THINGS LIKE THE REP MARKS..HALF MY BANK IS FILLED UP WITH USELESS STUFF on my Jem!! The only option is discrad cause we cant recycle them for creds or flet creds, thats a waste..

The fleet DIL vochers were very useful but the provisions were extreme overkill..

I disagree. While you can discard the unneeded ones (and that loses you nothing you didn't want), for those of us with characters in smaller fleets that are still growing, this is a blessing! Some of us REALLY appreciate the provisions. Not all Fleets are maxed out in every category. And then there's also the other fleets in your armada, maybe they'd be grateful for a helping hand. Your grande olde Alpha may be maxed, but I'll bet some of your Betas and Gammas aren't. Charity begins at home, as they say.

As I said in my post a choice type of thing like the rep marks would have worked perfectly in this case..In our armada we have 2 fleets at level 2 but they dont want much help except DIL..Our fleet is glad to help out any growing fleet provided they want the help and allow access for other fleets in the armada to donate to them, but the amount dumped on every player without choice, this is what triggered me..Cause all fleet holding, barring the colony, need like 10-15 max and thats about it, per slotted project which takes about 20 hrs to cycle to the next when completed..And here we had a downpour of over 600 provisions each..

I dont mean disrepectful but only this part of the gamma recruit rewards should have been though about a bit more. And a useful way would have been something like the rep mark choice option where you take only what you need.. AGAIN NO DISRESPECT.. :)

I'm still waiting for the free respec so I can change the horrendous allocation of skill points they saddled the Jems with. I will not touch my banked ones for something that should be free, was initially told was free and so far has been MIA since release.

I'd like to play my Jem'Hadar, but between the inability to respec without using a banked one and all the other various bugs, they are on hold for now and will be until they are playable by me. Others have obviously handled things the way they are, but I'm tired of spending my resources (time, effort, Zen, whatever else) trying to adjust to things only for the Devs to much later deal with the problems after I've spent those resources and no longer needing their 'fix'. No pun intended.

I meant no disrespect either. It's sad that your Armadamates want no help other than Dil (I've seen Fleets like that, too). You'd think they'd welcome Provision help. since you don't get Fleet Credit for Provision donations, IIRC (or, at least, you didn't used to). I can see what you mean by a choice of Provisions, perhaps that would have been best.

a very cool expansion. I like all the missions and the rewards, especially the clothes. The mission with the ferengis is awesome.
the new DS9 is very nice, and the job done for the characters is awesome.

    thx for your hard work.

My Jem'Hadar do NOT have a free respec, which is why I'm complaining. I go to the Skill screen to respec and the free option is greyed out. No freebie, no respec. I have banked ones, but I won't use those since we are supposed to get a free one.

When I got the free respec, it was added to the total available respecs automatically, not listed separately. Your total banked respecs should have increased by one. Each character's number of available respecs shows one more than before, because the new one is one account-wide one. Just like the ones in the Elite Starter Pack are account-wide ones.
