I am doing Tactical on several Delta Recruits and finding it rather dull and brain dead.
So, when I make a Jem'hadar....I am sticking with either Engineer or Science officers.

Depends on how much/if they raise the character slot cap.

I cant really get a sci jem in my head, hell I have a hard time with one that knows enough about warp cores to repair one.... skills wise tho, probably tac-eng balance or, if I get the carrier, solid tac
Science. If I ever get around to finishing whatever account-wide unlocks with it, it'll get shelved as I have too many toons, and don't care about having one engineer that's fed-aligned but have always liked Sci.
Tac is boring, but I had to have tac mains to keep it different than my sci main.

They've given us a new character slot for free each time they added a faction. Don't see why they wouldn't now.
I meant beyond that.

So far I always saw to an equal career distribution in my toon gang and technically a new sci would be in order now. Nevertheless I have 3 of those already and don’t feel the need to explore this aspect more. Truth of the matter is that even after the S13 nerf revamp tacs are still pretty much like 30% more efficient in what they do, no matter what they do.
I also have plans for my Jemi tac by making my first dedicated torpedo build in like years. Odenknight’s ( @darkknightucf ) recent discussion on topic got me interested enough to give it a try and see how bad things are really here. A few years back cannons where considered to be the black sheep, I never could see how as I always managed to get around 200k (b4 and after the skill revamp).

I'm on the fence at the moment. Though I suspect that once they're out there, I might try a Jem Hadar on for size. I do find myself curious as to how it will all be implemented, in terms of doing reputations, and things of that nature, as well as how they will be set up out of the box.
Resident TOS, G.I. Joe, Transformers and hair metal fangirl.
Definitely tac maybe an engineer too, not so sure about that one though.
While I do like the concept of the sci it's powers are kinda "meh", spamming APA & GDF may be boring but it just gets stuff done more efficiently.
I've always found tacs pretty dull and engies have lost some of their shine.
Will more than likely still play through on my original STO character and leave making a jem until a recruitment thing for at least the tutorial section. After which I suspect it'll be simply dropping them into the same old fed aimed writing regardless of race or faction so playing more will depend a lot on how tedious the systems are.

In reverse order:
Cannons weren't considered to be the black sheep, especially during the "Escort Online" days (pre-S8). Aside from proc mechanics failures, critD failure, fewer dedicated traits compared to their beam counterparts, the need for higher ranked seating, and power management issues, cannons (specifically DC's and DHC's) handled business very well in the hands of a proper pilot.
I'd like your assessment on the state of torps; the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's good to have a fresh set of eyes look at a situation and see if one has missed something, and I'd like to get your honest opinion on the state of torps in this game.
making one JM only to unlock ships and do the event stuff. Other then that I don't really care about JM. Cardies on the other hand, gonna make a few of them.
As most others have stated I can't see a Jem'Hadar other then as a Tactical Officer. I will make at least one Cardassian i think and he will be a engineer.

While they likely will give everyone a free character slot once the expansion goes live, one slot won't cut it for me. Being at the current cap sucks and I can't bring myself to delete. May as well ask a parent which child they want to get rid of. Now, if I made the character with the full intent of deleting it, like a mule, then okay, sure, I could delete that one.
But, if they don't increase the current character cap, I'll actually be forced to make a Jem and KEEP it. Not simply to unlock the 'current' Jem ships for all my other alts, but in case they ever decide to make more Jem ships. I want to make a Cardassian as well, but, with no more slots, I can't do that.
My worst fear right now is that a potential Gamma/Jem'Hadar Recruitment event may require both a Fed aligned AND a KDF aligned Jem in order to get all the rewards, similar to how the Delta Recruit event works. Oh, sure, you can get a majority of the rewards with just one, but my OCD says all or nothing so I will need at least 2 slots to pull that off.
So, with all that said, I'd make 1 Jem of each career if I can. If it turns out I'll only be able to make just 1, probably Tac, or maybe Engineer if I can come up with a good idea. And this does not include what if any Cardies I could make.
I really hope they raise the character cap, otherwise, I may be done.

According to Tribble it’s 6th June, but that could change

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.
