Could You make all quad-cannons cross-faction then? I wish to use plasma quad cannon on my federation character... If federation content is no longer exclusive to federation, then it is logical to give us something in return

But then people wouldn't have the excuse to roll their new Romulan Tactical officers...then they could just battlecloak without having to get a lock box ship.
What will Cryptic gain? Nothing...so doubt it will happen.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Funny.
It's because of Fed whine that faction diversity was sacrificed.

I have no time to roll second character. If Cryptic allow me to buy and use quad plasma as my Fed character, I will buy it and use it.

If anything, faction diversity should be:
1. story-based (now non existant - except few missions all factions work together on everything)
2. battlezone-based (now non existant - factions fight together as allies nearly ewerywhere)
3. design-based (non existant... 99.9% of content [weapons, equipment, traits, reputations, officers, DOFFs] are cross-faction already, and ships differences are mostly cosmetic... and now most of ships will be cross faction too)
So is entire "faction diversity" concept in current release of STO is based on not allowing me to use quad plasma on federation ship? Is this one thing REALLY going to change anything in terms of faction diversity?
What a F***ing Joke, seriously, now they are allowing the Romulans to fly allied ships, BUT, they can't FIX the problems of the Romulan Duty Officers, let alone allowing the Romulans to be a Truly Honest Faction. Hell, I'm even upset, that the Legendary Duty Officer for The Doctor lists him as a nurse, and, not his true profession as a Doctor, since the Federation has Declared him a true unique being.
"One very important, timed clause has no come to fruition, and the Romulan Republic will gain access to Federation and Klingon technology!"
You might want to correct that typo, Ambassador!
Rather it should be "One very important, timed clause has now come to fruition, and the Romulan Republic will gain access to Federation and Klingon technology!"
As I see it this is more then likely the first step in merging the Romulan republic into the Federation and in next years expansion they will start merging the Klingon empire into the Federation resulting in the galaxy spanning Federation we see in the future missions.

Interesting....
I mean it's not like the Romulans working with the Klingons aren't accessing Klingon ships at the same time as those working along with Star Fleet.
If the entire galaxy map ends up being forced to turn blue. And Fed players have access to every goddamn faction in-game assets, then that will be the day I lose interest in playing. Utopia is all well and good for die hard star fleet players. But it makes for dull and boring story in the long run with the end result being stagnation and death.

As the Romulan Republic infilitrates both sides at all levels. We rise like the phoenix from the ashes to encompase all of the galaxy!
Oh so this is some insidious Romulan infiltration plan to conquer the Feds. If only it were true! Cryptic wouldn't be that bold. Make for a good EP though.

A lot of people say that this negatively impacts Romulans, but what it really negatively impacts are the other factions, who now lose out hardcore to the Romulan Master Race.
Sorry I read that wrong. I think it actually negatively impacts Romulans more. Sure we get cards. But it encourages players to fly around in ships that should be used by the core faction and in turn decreases the number of Romulan ships being used.

I get the feeling that the declare your allegiance thing they are doing with all the selections of all other factions except Romulans locked out until later dates influenced this decision.

I must say that it's kinda odd if they make it so only Romulan ships are not usable by other factions.
KDF and Starfleet don't even have access to Rommie Ships or their OP BOff's that can stack up and do massive amounts of damage +10% Crit & +25% Crti Dmg.
But that's what's REALLY going on here! Oh, not with the ships. But with the BOFFs? Heck, yes, the KDF and Starfleet DO...now.
Cryptic isn't really giving Romulans anything. Geko hates us, and the KDF. What's actually being done is completely giving the Romulans TO the Feds.
Roll a Rom, and fly FED ships all the way to endgame...while using a crew of those sweet Rom BOFFs you're going on about. FED ships with ROM crews, that's what the FED players have wanted all along, and now they have it. Oh, sure it says "Romulan" on your character sheet, but who are you trying to kid? The DPS Feddies now have what they want: Fed ships, with Superior Operatives and/or Superior Infiltrators at every station. You can always pretend you're a Vulcan. Heck at that point, you practically are: pointed-eared FED officers. And if you can't stand even that, roll a ROM alien-gen captain, and make it look human. Captain Bob Smith with an all-ROM crew in a Defiant with Battle Cloak.
No, this was a real Trojan Horse, in the original sense - presented as a gift to the Romulans, it's actually the end of any remaining shreds of uniqueness, independence or diversity.
Kinda of amazing how, despite the fact that they get access to 99% of ships in the game, the Romulan players are STILL complaining about this being a bad thing for them, and how the Federation somehow beats then out.
I am only for this decision if the Federation and Klingons get the same unrestricted access that the Romulans are getting.
When I first started on this game I was really disappointed to find out Romulans would be locked into using Warbirds. I rebelled against that, I wanted to fly a D'kyr. I refused to use Warbirds and instead opted to use a T4.5 Intrepid, that I later updated to a Tier 5 Ambassador when that was made available. The fact that I can finally get to fly a D'kyr on my main is such amazing now, I'm so happy!
My sig has been there since I joined the game, which was shortly after Romulans were released.
There is historical precedent for Romulans making use of other factions ships in times of need.
1 Around 2267 The Klingons traded ships for cloaking devices with the Romulans. Giving the Klingons Cloaking technology. & the Romulans a fleet of D7-class battle cruisers. (The Romulans gave all their crappy old cloaking devices away at a bargain that would envy the Ferengi, & even the Federation sent Kirk in a year l8r to steal the new and improved cloaking device from the Romulans because it was to OP. Yeah, The Federation sent Spock, & Kirk in as spies to steal tech from the Romulans, So much for the Federation trust worth.)
2 The Klingon Bird of Prey, The BoP is a Romulan ship. Initially in the movie ST:3, The villain was supposed to be a Romulan. He was changed to a Klingon, & Christopher Lloyd became a Pioneer of a new era of Klingon culture. And the Klingons, got a new ship. A Klingon Bird of Prey. In essence the Klingons can thank the Romulans for both cloaking tech, & the Bird of Prey. But I digress.
Esentially the Romulans, have made use of ships from other factions in the past. The Fleet of D7s. So it's not unreasonable for the RomRepublic to do the same.
Finally decided to make a sig.
I see allot of them with a character, and ship.
though I'm not sure which ship to put on there...
I'll think about it. This will do for now.

-Faction diversity is not existent any more for romulans: they have already enough ships they don't need the ships of FED/KDF
-FED/KDF never give their best ships away because they need them themselves......
-technology sharing: the cross faction packages are already enough you get technology to improve your ships you don't need to fly a ship from an another faction
-the singularity core is a unique mechanic for romulans...when you have choose a romulan deal with it. You can already fly warpcore ships from the events/cross faction.
-we need faction diversity i have created romulan to fly a warbird, not a FED/KDF ship. I am a romulan not a federation/klingon puppet!!!
-a compromise: Romulans can fly T5 FED/KDF Ships because FED/KDF need their best ships for themselves....and a T5-U ship is not bad. It also preserve the ship diversity for T6 ships....
-the FED/KDF will never give their best ships to the Romulan Republic, they will give their older ships to them (until T5 Ships) as a "help".
-You can introduce it to the Jem'hader because they don't have enough ships (command, pilot etc....).......but romulans have already their counterparts(Command, pilot, miracle worker)!!!
I just hope we can use Romulan ship skins/color schemes on Fed/KDF ships.
A KDF Mogh Battlecruiser or Fed Pilot Escort with the Romulan Veteran ship skin? Yes, please!
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.
Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!
Honestly i dont see a reason for this for the romulans. They already have a large amount of ships, they do not need access to the other factions. The JH dont even need this as they will launch with the same amount that the roms did, give them access up to T5 of other factions and they are fine. The romulans 100% dont need this at this point.
