What ships were your Game-Savers?

Yes, as in Life-Savers.

You see, I was about to quit STO for good 3 years ago.

But then I decided to give it a try and go for something different than the same old boring style of play I used to display. I thought if I had to go, I go with some good memories... Then I got some theorycrafting, sutdied the WIKI, tried some things and I saw the Pilot Escorts and gave them a shot.

I had a lvl 50 engineer toon and bought the Fedie Pilot set... And that was it. The moment I was waiting for. Suddenly I was scratching Advanced queues pulling my weight, I was destroying the Vaadwaur and Iconian ships with relative ease in the Delta Quadrant adn the queues. I blazed through the 8472 Counter-Command Reputation and actually got the ship set to MK XIV much later and found the joy again (and some desperately needed DPS by the way).

To this day you can see me piloting my Tactical Pilot Escort ship in the 8472 Counter-Command Reputation ship set and I there's nothing better than vomiting 5 forward firing dual heavy phaser cannons with Cannon Rapid Fire III mixed with a Torpedo High Yield III in an Emergency Power to Weapons. To hell with Shield Penetration, DOT's and the like; I enjoy nothing more than pure raw full firepower chewing through shields and hulls. I can even stand toe to toe with a Tzenkethi battleship!

Those ships saved my toon from Oblivion and brought back the fun in STO for me.

What was your Game-Saver ship if you ever had one?

Assault Cruiser Refit for me. Or anything with a similar enough BOff layout to the Assault Cruiser Refit. I've gotten pretty good with her that I can make her dance and got the right setup for survivability in most cases outside of PvP. Although when NOT facing a vaper I do tend to surprise PvPers with my resiliance.

Buying the Delta pack kept me going for a good while - the Mat'Ha, Guardian, Scryer, and Phantom are all fun and different ships.

I just wish the Mat'Ha had LC Science so I could Grav Well my targets together before I WHAM-WHAM-WHAM-WHAM! them with the nose cannon :)

None. I get bored flying the same thing all the time.

However as I still have many, many ships to try out yet I guess I could say all of those.

I do have a sweet spot for carriers and escorts though, so maybe one of those will keep my interest in the grind for a while.

Fleet arbiter was a real highpoint for me.

Since then theres been a couple of really sweet additions...my current favourites are multi mission science explorer or nautilus on my sci toon, andorian pilot on my andorian tac toon and the t6 lifetime subscription ships on several alts....they are amazing all round ships with fantastic boff seating.

Still love my Fleet T6 Advanced Escort though.

Gal-X. Original, T5U and T6. I was a kid watching the series finale of TNG and for those 10 seconds to see MY enterprise decloak! (OMG IS THAT A THIRD WARP NACELLE!!!!) and then lance the Klingon cruisers into oblivion (OMG WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!)

And then I saw it was a playable ship. Literally the REASON I started playing STO. I have 15 chars now at and its ALWAYS my fallback for any of my feds. Its a diverse enough ship I can have fun regardless if I'm playing my Eng, Tac, or Sci characters. Yup. Great ship.

Aelahl Light Warbird Battlecruiser, T6 Malem, Kor BoP, Ma'Teh Raptor, Qa'Tel Flight deck raptor.

My main stays. A few more ships I'd like to snag but that's a long way down the road.

The T5 Vesta and T5 MU Guardian revived my boredom with my two main Tactical Fed's. The Vesta also makes an excellent ship choice for just about any career path. I have a Sci with one, a Tac with one, and an Engineer in one. Each build is very different but also very effective.

For me without doubt, T6 Galaxy. I fought for years in the mighty 'whats your beef with the galaxy thread' to get her to be a decent ship. Cryptic finally relented and gave us a decent version of the Galaxy, for which iam thankful. Since its release it has been my mains ship. They even listened to us and gave us the upgraded DS9 Venture refits necels, which I had also requested for years, and I have used them on my T6 Galaxy from then on.

Pilot escorts have been saving graces for some of my other toons, I was a huge Kumari fan so when we got T6 version I got them ASAP and love them, again Cryptic listened to the player base on what we wanted to see and they did awesome. I think some of the best ships Cryptic has ever released are the ones they took feedback on, wish they would do more of that.

The Mah'ta Raptor is also a very good high point. Or as I like to call it my klink Warthog.

The Temporal 31st ships are also very very fun to play. Getting the T6 D'Deridex and the T6 Neg'var were my two alt faction mains ships high points for the time being, ive got 12 toons after all these years so lots of fav ships.

In my case I wouldn't say full blown life saver in the sense the OP has put it, but the ship that got me hooked was the old t5 Cardassian Galor. I had tried to get a tank going with the original t5 Ambassador, and it worked for a time but didn't give me everything I wanted. I then moved to the t5 tac oddy, which was an improvement but still wasn't where I wanted it. Finally came across a guy in an old t5 Galor way back during the old school elite days. Not sure what the guy had on that thing but I picked up a Galor not long after that and found my perfect partner ship well into the Delta Rising and t6 era. My t6 Gal-X and other ships just couldn't outpace my Galor no matter what I did. It wasn't until the Keldon was released that I finally upgraded to a full time t6 ship.

I think I could use one now... KDF sided Vengeance-like/Scimitar-like ship. 5-3 dreadnought cruiser in the C-store or from an event. what do you guys think about this idea? I could come with the design idea.

I haven’t played long enough to want to quit so take my opinion with a grain of salt lol.
But The temporal light cruiser i was lucky enough to get from that duty officer special they ran last year made me a better player.
The weapon and console layout coupled with the manuverability fits my play style. So i would say that ship will certainly keep me playing when i’m bored with my other ones.
The only thing I would change is the boff stations.
Speaking of escorts, I am quite interested to try out the anniversary ship.

For me it was the original Vestas. I bought them and spent a lot of time just swanning about. First time I got serious about learning about Scien-err, excuse me, Space Majiks. Yeah, that's it. Turns out the Borg were right. Resistance(s) really are futile, lol.

T5 Ops Odyssey - a reason to stay and farm dil for zen, without that I'd have quit the game early on cause there's no real end-game content.

T5 Wells - a reason to farm EC.

Lately? T6 Romulan Explorer Warbirds (Rom Vestas), cause more Romulan science was my wish since forever, and Cryptic finally did it, along with much better treatment for Romulans and KDF for more *variety* which keeps the game fun.

Hoping for a T6 R'Mor with singularity core, battle cloak, and commander temporal next (hello hero temporal ships?), and that long overdue T6 Nova.

The Chimera & Manticore were my lifesavers. Mostly because I got Lifetime Sub for those two ships in particular.

I guess I should add, the Pilot Ships too. Since they are fun to fly. :)

I've had three ship loves during my years playing STO. My first was the Fleet Advanced Heavy Cruiser (Excelsior). I used this ship for probably 2 years. I was forced from it kicking and screaming. Unfortunately, it's boff layout is particularly bad...even with the T6 version. It was, I believe, the only old ship that received a T6 version without a universal seat added. I eventually moved on to the Kelvin Dreadnought cruiser. An excellent cruiser...probably the best one available fedside. Recently, I've moved on to the NX Escort. It's been a long time since I played an escort regularly, but I love the NX. I don't really care that much for the looks of the ship, but it has a great boff layout and makes for a fun ship to play.

Ive repeatedly spoken up for the Nova as well as other ship. And to get the Galaxy turned into a good ship took the combined efforts of hundreds of us forum go'ers years and years of constant pestering and suggesting to the devs. Fully aware how 'lucky' that is.

In the last week ive made multiple mention of the Nova in threads with you specifically in mind. I know the Nova is a beloved ship, and its due in large part to your effort it is kept in peoples minds. Id personally really like to see it return at T6 as a scout science ship similar to the Lukari ships due to its small size and time in the delta quadrant it fits that role well. You have my support for all that it is worth.

I tried to make an update older T6 thread the other day but seems people arent intrested is upgrading older ships, it got 0 intrest. Which is a shame as its ships like the Nova that need brought up to T6, and ones like the Intrepid that need buffed to be real T6 compeditive. Seems like the forums have become less then a shell of its former self in the over all ship discussion since the removal of the ships sub forums.

You know, i think the last T5 ship pack that does not have T6 evolution are the Dyson Sci Destroyers :)
Personally i hope we will get T6 Sci Destroyers (don't need to be Dyson variants) after the next anniversary.
I really liked the T5 versions...

      Edit:
Maybe there will be Gamma Explorer Pack (like Delta Operation or the Temporal Special Agent Pack) on the next expansion with the T6 Nova included ?

The T6 KDF flag ship is prolly closest you will get to that, there is no 5/3 dreadnought in the cstore for KDF or Fed, and isnt one at all from events. I personally like the T6 neg'var, you can make that into a dreadnought like ship even tho its 4/4, if you are stuck on dreadnought you are looking at lockbox/lobi/promotion ships. I have my T6 neg'var turning on a dime and it can use cannons or dbb very effectively. The T6 bortasqu is a solid ship, all the T6 flagships are. It can also mount DHC if you like, though id stick to DBB or something since the bortasqu does not turn as good. Though with Aux to Damp and conductive RCS you can make just about any ship dance.
