Discovery vanity shield?

I didn't see this being mentioned anywhere in the release blogs but apparently there exists such a thing?

What does it do? I assume it works the same way the as the Tzenkethi one, but on the exchange it says it also depends on faction chosen.

    Running 90m on the exchange. Basically it gives your ship the coloring of the Crossfield or the Sarcophagus ship depending on your faction.

    That's how I became aware of its existence, but unfortunately it doesn't show much when you click it there.

    And I agree. Considering that the whole coffin thing was supposed to make the ship more sturdy, it's not a great material.

    The Fed one looks ok, but to be fair, it's not really special. I had expected more from such an expensive item.

    I like having a solid colour on some of my ships (Nebula for example), but the Terran reputation shield does a fine job for that too. And it's much cheaper :p

    The KDF version reminds me a little of damascening.

    IIRC, the Tzenkethi one was a possible very rare bonus reward from weapon packs. I don't know if the Discovery one follows the same pattern.

    The shields don't have stats. They're entirely cosmetic.

    Yeah, you just buy the shield on the exchange, remember, it's not a real shield!, its a cosmetic one!, IIRC it comes in the weapons pack, but of course you have a chance to get it..

    There's a missed advertising opportunity here: as it is, you can preview in the shipwright hull types/patterns you don't yet have access to on a given ship (and it tells you what you need to unlock them)... why don't they extend that to include all these vanity shields?

    I accidentally bought one (I meant to get the Tzenkethi one). Not Cryptic's fault, of course; but what *is* their fault, is that it's fugly as hell. It looks horrifically bad on my T6 Breen Heavy Raider, and possibly even worse on my Miradorn. Wasted EC.

    I got one and tried it on Tribble. It's pretty blah. A gray skin... like that's unusual for Fed ships. :/
    Kinda like the Delta Rep shield, just plain ol' gray, but with light blue bussard collectors.

    I probably should be hyping it up since I'm selling it on the Exchange. :D

    Or you could just give it to me.... Mailing it to @marhawkman would be easier than selling it on exchange :p

    I'm going to get one just for how it looks on the Dreadnought :lol::lol: If it also looks okay on the Centaur, Cheyenne and Phantom, then that would be a bonus :sunglasses:

    Here we have the Discovery vanity shield used to apply the texture of the Sarcophagus ship to various other ships.
    Each section of the video is ~ 30 seconds as that's the cooldown on swapping ships in space. Except the second one since I did a quick demo of how it hides engine visuals.
    The ship used are(in order) TMMSV, Kar'fi, Phalanx, Martok, Qib, Sarr Theln, Naj'sov, To'duj, Duvqu', Vonph. MatHa(with Borg engine, and Undine deflector)

    I was very lucky, decided to open just three of the boxes and I got the shield in the second box.

    Patching Tribble now, 8800 MB to download and then I'll upload some pics of my own.

    I only have the Faeht intel warbird, the Tier 6 Valdore and the Vastam class on my Romulan, I'll add pictures of those as soon as possible.
