Star Trek Online is celebrating eight years as the continuing story of the Star Trek Universe. Here's a special message from our executive producer Stephen Ricossa.
Congratulations! I still love the game as much as I did years ago when I first started.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
This is my second anniversary with the company, and seriously, my time with you guys has been incredible. Thank you for being such a great and welcoming community.

Two years already? Thanks for being here, you field this peanut gallery pretty well!
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I just sent a link of this to several of my RL friends. Every Anniversary I remind them that this game is here and every year I get back crickets. Maybe this year they will finally join.
I second micro91's question--when does the Anniversary Event roll out for consoles?
Not until it's green-lighted. This is an MS/Sony issue, not Cryptic's. The announcement will be made on the web and social media.

The few times I bother wanting to get back in the game and the launcher is taking an eternity to patch. And no, it's not my connection, everything on my end works just fine.

That's because there are thousands downloading at a time. Speeds are always slower. It's not like they have TB's of bandwidth available.

Two years? Wow... and you had some pretty big shoes to fill after Trendy.
Anyways... congrats on 8 years. Hope this game continues on for many more.
i have played every year... every event but even i have never known it to be this slow. i appreciate the level of traffic increase for this but surly temp increase in there bandwidth wouldn't hurt.
I've enjoyed this game for what seems like many years, but I know it isn't as long as some of you. I'm still enjoying it. It took my little laptop three hours to patch, then got to do the mission with Jhanell and the Q-game before I got a ten minute warning that the server was being restarted. So will take Lilly through later this evening.
Kael, you've done a superb job filling Trendy's shoes, hope you stick around for another year or three
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

It has nothing to do with MS/Sony. The STO devs obviously taking on too much along with this Anniversary event that they have not had time to deal with console. The PC version was borked day one, had slow/huge download, and patches to fix things keep breaking more things.
The Anniversary even is not showing up in the event calender forJan or Feb, and will be pointless after Feb, it will be like celebrating Christmas inFeb when others will be celebrating Valentines day!. The console anniversary has been cancelled this year or moved to September when it released on consoles.

Welcome to day one of an event. The Patch Server Hamsters are really earning their food today.

Smart move.
Check the mission markers on the mini-map - the omega molecules only spawn in those marked areas. (And the areas change over time.)
Anniversary has a very familiar feel after my first omega scan got hit by the bug that stops it seconds after starting.

Yep
Congratulations!
I started playing in the summer of 2010 and I can't imagine leaving anymore.
