The OP for this thread, and in other threads he/she has posted lately, is clearly either a troll of an undercover Perfect World employee attempting to garner information about how people feel about STO as it is right now.

I suspect it is the latter. Do not be fooled by the poor use of English or the grammatical errors. These are camoflage to throw off the unsuspecting. Why would Perfect World do this? How many people really take the time to fill out those pop up surveys on the Internet?

The OP has posted threads which by their title are guaranteed to provoke a reaction. Both for and against the topic in question. So naturally people here dive in all guns blazing in support of their viewpoint.

Please stop being misled. If the Marketing Team at Perfect World wants to know what we think about STO as it is, they could do a far better job than some guy with a low post count pretending English isn't his native language.

Wow, I was wondering when thunderfoot would finally ditch the "voice of reason" act. Absolutely insane post.

I smell disappointment in your post you didn't think of it first.

Large majority of buyers will say no. Casual freebies will say no. Casual players who sink some bucks or euros to get some zen will say no. Just the small percent of old trolls would like this to grief newbies and then taunt them into leaving the game.

This Thread is this Fall's 'Orions should be Green' Thread without all the special characters in the Subject Title. It is a provoker Thread, that in the Trendy days, probably would have gotten a few anti-them posters banned, always a goal for them.

To reiterate, this Perma-death in any form will NEVER be implemented by Cryptic. Would end up costing them too many players and money, in spite of any supposed 'Special Relationship' with Cryptic claimed by some. You just don't change a game that did not start as Perma-death into one SEVEN years later.

Look to true motivations, in-game money. They stand to make sh*t-tons under this scheme and get the Board Community all riled up otherwise.

Back to the Lone-lands for some relaxing fun.

how about perma-death for the idiots in esd zone chat.
It's kind of ironic how you also posted in a thread about someone buying a T6 Konnie that you mentioned about "buying a small hypo"

The thing that make STO approachable is it's one of them pick up and get playing which for casuals and new players is a good thing. Nabeeki, stop dictating what is fun and what is not. Not all of us are elitist players, some of us just want to have fun by our own choice not what others say

Now you indeed can die without any consequences all the time. You still get all the loot and rewards others did all the work for. AND then after the PVE has ended you just get your free repairs and heals e.g. at Earth Space Dock (or other spots when applicable)

Hence my proposal to ADD a "no respawn on/off" setting in the options menu. You then will be queued with people who also have no respawn on. If you succesfully run the PVE and dont die you get double marks and rewards, if you die you get nothing (if you get nothing you can queue up again without CD). Keeping team mates alive will be more valuable then currently because if to many die, PVE will fail in many cases.

PS: notice I wrote add, if you like respawning you just can play as is, keep the no respawn toggle set to off.

Why not just re-enable fail conditions on advanced and elite queues? No need for coding a brand new system.

Because with just fail conditions trolls win. Fail condations are PVE wide. Than no one gets rewards. In my proposal when respawn is set to off, all who dont die and succeed will get double rewards, the ones that die get nothing. Less gain for the troll, who tries to sabotage a run, in that case.

the funny thing for all the bashing of WoW it does have fail conditions even for the easiest group content (sure those are fail conditions are pretty easy to avoid but still they exist) and yet trolls intentionally trying to prevent others from getting rewards are near non-existant (now trolls ruining the run for others if they didn't get the loot/reward they wanted, yes those exist but wouldn't be an issue in STO as everyone gets essentially the same rewards anyway).

Problem with the current system is twofold really first injuries aren't meaningful enough, second most PvE queues don't have fail conditions. You don't really need personal fail conditions to combat trolls, you just need to make the fail conditions harsh enough that throwing the fight for lolz is more harmful in the long run then trying to do your best.
There weren't that many trolls in STO, either. Yes, some of the fail conditions were bad, were at least somewhat trollbait, but most weren't and there weren't that many people trolling them either. Some people just blew it out of proportion as usual. I saw maybe one troll in ISA once (maybe, because it could've been just a clueless newbie) and ISA had one of the most senseless fail condition of them all.

Bigger problem was the ones that required a bit of positive teamwork, especially splitting up, like saving the Cooperative ships in BDA. Which tended to be susceptible not to trolls intentionally trying to fail it but to players who didn't pay enough attention to realise they couldn't win it just by following everyone else and shooting things. If you didn't get at least 3 players that could save ships in BDA, you'd lose.

And the game just quietly giving out a "consolation prize" if you lost, in exactly the same text as you'd get if you won, those players not paying attention didn't necessarily even notice they lost at all, certainly not why. It should've put up a giant pop-up saying "YOU LOSE! Save the f***ing ships next time!" or something.

Having unlock conditions to prevent players going in completely over their heads in Advanced/Elite wouldn't have hurt, either. Something single-player so they can't get carried, that tests understanding of the mission mechanics and combat performance. BDA for example would be easy to run a test mission, with only one station and the player would have to save some number of ships solo while fighting the enemies to unlock the queue.
