40 to 45 second black screen before the Character Select screen appears + constant crashes

Dear Cryptic,

Not sure anyone else is having this problem and was not sure if this is the right section for it but before there would be a smooth transition from the loading screen to the Character Select screen. Now lately I have a black screen for 40 to 45 seconds with the background music playing, as soon as the time expires, I see the Character Select screen. On top of this, I have been in the Arena of Sompek, or doing a DOFF mission, when my game crashes. This happens almost all the time, due to it I have missed Arena of Sompek rewards and have to replay the mission and pray that the crash does not happen in the gameplay. I have looked at the log files, part of it must be connected to Cogent but the other stuff not sure what that is about. Please fix this. Thanks. :)

This is me again, I will try with compatibility mode on Windows 8 for Windows 10 and see if that works. But man, does Windows 10 not like Direct3D, all kinds of problems at loading screens and UI. Thanks.

I have the same black screen every time I log in, it's a bit annoying.

Now, it usually goes to a blue screen but not the blue screen of death thankfully. Maybe the 64-bit client when it comes to holodeck will resolve some of these issues I have been having. But right now I will play STO in Compatibility Mode Windows 7 for Windows 10. See how that goes.

Wait what?! when is the 64-bit client rummored to come?? That would sort a TRIBBLE load of performance issues for people using 64 bit systems!!

But yeah thankfully for me the client doesnt crash after the blue screen, rather I should say sky blue screen before the character select screen..

I don't know when the 64-bit client is supposed to come but frtoaster found out about it through looking at the files in the directory where Star Trek Online is in. I also have that sky blue screen before the character select screen.
