    Sounds similar to the way Sanctuary got started, so maybe it'll grow into a "proper" series once they test the water with the webisodes ?

    how can they have a prequel when nothing happened before they uncovered the gate? are they going to set it in ancient egyptian times or something?​​

    I watched the teaser Shadow. Its gonna follow a young Catherine Langford (The woman who brought Daniel Jackson into the program in the original movie) as they study the gate, maybe even leading up to an event depicted in SG-1 where her fiance was actually the first man to step through... I think it was in the 40s or 50s when that event happened.

    Hmmm... a prequel series, set years before another, successful, franchise-launching show, used to anchor a streaming service... where have I heard of this concept before?

    If this helps put the Stargate foot in the door for a longer running series, I am all for it.

    Agreed. As long as they don't make the same mistake they did with SG:U. All drama and no humor repackage of BSG with a Stargate.
