Laggy Kobayashi Maru Untimed

Hi all,

I wish to express my frustration at the event happening right now which is meant to be like a No Win Scenario. Will deal with that one in a moment...

There is consistent lag and stalls throughout the entire mission but it gets much worse to when it is unplayable at level 19 and 24. This is made worse during those siege levels that a ton of NPCs pretty much spawn on top of the KM. Then you get a few stalls and the ship is dead mission over. And, a siege level that is only meant to go for 60 seconds went for 362 seconds (just over 4 minutes) due to the server lag... when there isn't enough resources to keep the clock counting correctly then you know there are some serious issues.

Frankly this is unacceptable in my opinion and I would have thought these lessons would have been learnt from last year and the year before when the game had lag issues. We just tried it 3 times and all had the same issue. We won't be doing the mission again until it is fixed.
Finally, comparing it to NWS. This new mission is a mere shadow of what NWS was. In NWS there was the challenge to stay alive as well as the challenge to protect the transport. This new mission has NPCs made of paper and a transport that doesn't benefit fully from the heals that are being cast. There are some nice twists like your Boffs abilities getting longer cooldown or being stuck at full thrusters and they are interesting challenges but when it is virtually unplayable what's the point?

So Cryptic, if you are reading this please fix this new mission to make it playable and listen to your community for a change and bring back No Win Scenario. If normal was too easy in your eyes then adjust the rewards accordingly. Have an advanced map the rewards the Kirk Protege title and scale the difficulty up slightly. The old elite version was too hard for 98% of the player base and took an hour to do. The rewards didn't reflect the time spent doing it.

    Could confirm the lag issues, especially during the siege stages for the unlimited version.

    yes the lag for me on this was terrible. i haven't seen any problems elsewhere lately. it was about like the early days of planet killers in undine battle zone - frame by frame clicking.

    Level nineteen?! I've yet to get past three without the ship popping a few seconds after the wave spawns.

    edit: Had another couple of attempts and it really is so laggy as to be nearly unplayable. It's so bad that CRF (assuming it actually activates when you click it) doesn't actually speed up cannon fire.

    lag all over I'd click cannon rapid fire and it might take effect 3s later... the rubberbanding every second was obnoxious... All for some phasers of questionable value??

    Anyone determined if this is acct bound like sompek or w'ere expected to bounce around mindlessly on every alt?

    Completing it starts an account-wide timer for getting the event token, which is the way it worked with the Sompek Arena. Sompek had an account unlock for the reward, but I've not read anything to suggest the same was intended for Kobayashi Maru. In a strange twist, the rewards appear to be account, rather than character-bound.

    I only flew the mission once and have been logged on for several hours and that map was the only area of the game I experienced server lag.

    Its a shame as I know theres many Players out there who want to go as far as they can and see if its beatable.

    yeah thats why I was wondering.. I never assume account unlock unless cryptic specifically states it.

    that would be highly appreciated.

    And there is an issue with the reward for alt toons. Finishing the project on one toon doesnt grant the unlock to the rest of the account.

    Can you also mention the lag problems on Risa, regarding the pvp races. Difficult to compete when you get such things as the jumps sending you miles into the air, and you get disqualified..

    Gravity has been behaving oddly on risa the past few days with randomly dropping you down by 10-12 feet during the flying high mission.

    Forgot to check but are the tokens for the maru event account bound or do I have to make sure not to overlap when the timer ticks off with the "wrong" character.

    The tokens are awarded per account, so you can only get one on your account every 20 hours.

    Haven't tried it yet, but that sounds a lot like the same issue I used to get on the SB24 map in the later stages. Turning off Dynamic Lighting really helped there with lag, perhaps it's worth a shot ?

    What I was wondering was are they account bound or bound to the character that gets it.

    If they are character locked and the wrong character gets it then you get put back a day on collection as it's one per day for the entire menagerie on the account.

    And if that is the case then it's something to consider adjusting for the next weekender.

    Tokens are Account-bound not Character. I transferred the one I had left over from Sompek to another Character tonight no problem. They indicate Account-bound on the Token.

    So I am assuming that means the weapon is account reclaimable.

    Run it on any Character, after today's patch it unlocks it for the entire Account. The Vouchers are Account-bound and you can get one a day. Three used on one Character unlocks it for the ENTIRE account.

    Exactly what I wanted to know.

    By the number of issues that have been raised here I do think they could have bumped it a week to make sure all the kinks were out and have the ability to hype it on their podcast. But that would break tradition of something being released then patched within a few days.
