[It's over now!] 2017 Risa Summer Event PSA - You need 25 days to obtain the summer event ship!

angrytargangrytarg Member Posts: 11,010 Arc User
The event runs until July 20th - that means you absolutely have to start running "Flying High" on one character by Monday, June 26th and that is assuming there are no server outages, no extended maintenance AND you can hit the game once each day.

So, keep this in mind when you want to get the ship. There will be (most likely) no expansions, no consolation gift vouchers and when you fall short there is (most likely) nobody to blame for it. Don't act all surprised and complain in the forums or reddit. Now enjoy your Risa vacation. LLAP! pig-4.gifpig-23.gifpig-35.gif

EDIT:
A piece of sound advice by jaguarskx
jaguarskx wrote: »
I actually recommend starting no later than Sunday, June 25th because the event will end on July 20th at 10am PST which is in the morning. So playing "Flying High" at something like 8pm at night every night starting on June 25th, players will have all 1,000 vouchers for the Summer Ship on the night of Wednesday, July 19th.

EDIT 2:

It must have been love - but it is over now!

The event ship is now pretty much out of reach if you do not want to pay real or in-game currency for it and you are unable to hardcore-play the event countdown (it's on a 20 hr cooldown, so technically you can get the ship in 20 real time days, but if you have some sort of daily routine like work or studies this is nigh-impossible). Still, try to slot the event and do some runs, you will be able to complete the project next year if you keep it slotted! pig-1.gif Further, if you only fall one or two days short it might be an option to buy vouchers for Lobi - you need roughly 50 Lobi per missed day!

The event started 6/8. I have no sympathy for anyone who can't get that done in (nearly, pedants) a month and a half.

Still, it's tradition to see fiery threads once the event comes to a close of people somehow missing one or two runs for whatever reasons (mostly it's "The extended maintenance kept me from logging in" or "I didn't know there was maintenance" or something like this)

But.....but I cannot possibly do the last one until one hour before the op ends! I'm special and I cannot find time in my busy schedule to finish it any quicker! I demand Crypitic make an exception for me as its tyranny to force me to finish it any earlier!!!

There is a way to get the Event Ship without having to bother doing the event.

Simply use Lobi Crystals to purchase the 2017 Lohlunat prize voucher pack from the Lobi Store. Each pack rewards 2 to 6 vouchers and each pack costs 5 Lobi Crystals. Assuming each pack rewards an average of 4 vouchers and each lockbox opened rewards an average of 5 Lobi Crystals people only need to purchase 250 Master Keys to get the free Event Ship!!!

    What a bargain!!!

Actually, 250 master keys would cost $281.25 USD since a 10 pack is 1,125 Zen.

Or about 1.2 billion EC assuming master keys costs 5.2m EC on the Exchange.

    A free ship for 300 $? :p

So really, everyone, use those 25 days. And don't think you won't need this, or it isn't your style. You'll regret it at some point if you don't have it and find out you will never again have it. It's not like it's hard work. Or even unfun. Who doesn't like flying! :)

    Pic or pig?

I cannot help but feel prejudice against the differently nosed people, and on behalf of my toons Qaan and Dtazsa want to voice my disapproval.

Also I was on holidays for the beginning of the event and will be on holidays at the end, so I only have about 35 days to get my 25 runs. I feel cheated and demand an extension until Helloween at the least, a personal apology by every dev, and a free green Mk XI phaser cannon.

I'd like to emphasize this. I didn't get the Risian Cruiser back in the day because at that point I was still concerned with STOs in-lore conistency and found a armed up cruise liner being en par with heavy battelcruisers stupid. I have regretted not having it more than once during the past years.

could be the same "mask" as that looks like a fem TOS tellarite and the (male) tellarites in TOS a stock "pig nose" mask because that only the only one that was either avaible or that TOS production crew could afford due to limits of budget and time for a low priority 1960s TV series (yeah it might be hard to belive now but TOS was actually a rather low priority for the network back in the day, which probably explains why it ended so poorly). That's why I like the Tellarite and to lesser extent andorian upgrades they did in ENT, they more or less kept the theme of those species but made them look less cheap by modern TV production standards.

Personally I've swapped to the modern Tellarite look on both my AoY toons but that's just a matter of taste and each according to their on taste or lack of it.

The ENT look for the 'rites is horrible, weird melty faces instead of pig people? Who in their right mind would accept such a bargain? Also, ENT made the 'rites dwarves. While I don't mind that change, they were a tall as humans or Andorians before. Nah, I'm glad we got the TOS options, it's unique instead of wrinkly-faced generic unity. I also like to have the cloven hooves fromt he original make-up test, but that's a change Cryptic can't be expected to implement for a rarely played race.

These are always funny because it's always 1 or 2 days and mostly the maintenance at fault. You'd expect that after even only a month of playtime, they'd have learned the frequency and timetable of the maintenance periods. And let's not talk about everything what can happen to an always online game.

I guess it's one of those gaming community quirks where some people just never learn despite having seen what usually happens many times before, like CGI trailers looking nothing like the final game itself or clearly-faked, choreographed and scripted "in-game footage" "demos".

Also, do we really need a PSA to tell ppl how long an event lasts? Seems wholly unnecessary to me, and just clutters up the forum.

On the other hand if you do miss it for any reason, LEAVE THE EVENT SLOTTED. They've been both generous and consistent in letting you wrap up your old, partially completed events on the next cycle.

Hmmm, actually, I think they've been both generous and consistent in NOT letting you wrap up your old, partially completed events on the next cycle. At least not Summer event. It even specifically says '2017' on the Lolwuts.

My getting two ships last winter disagrees with you. About 2 days into the event they specifically changed the previous year's event to allow you to use the new tokens to continue advancing it. Did it on one captain for the new ship, did it on the captain that had the old event still slotted to pick up the lobster.

Maybe winter and summer have different rules.

Yes, they are governed by different rules. Mirror Invasion, for instance, let's you use last-year's transporter thingies just fine. But not the Summer event lolwuts.
