Should I replace my T6 Vesta? And if yes, with what?

This is actually a question I never really wanted to ask.

The thing is, I've been flying around in my T6 Vesta for quite some time now, and I'm happy with it. Especially the LtCmdr Universal/Temporal Operative boff seat, on which I have three temporal shenanigans abilities slotted. This actually brings me to my point: I have considered switching to a "full" Temporal starship, because said temporal shenanigans have really grown on me. Damn shame the T& Vesta doesn't have Molecular Reconstruction, it would really benefit from it.

Now, the three options I have considered for a possible replacement are the Paladin, the Eternal and the Universe. All three fit the bill, they have at least one Temporal boff slot and Molecular Reconstruction.

However, each one has its problems:

The Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser has a boff layout that requires me to get two new temporal boffs. Okay, this isn't much of a problem.
The Eternal Temporal Multi-Mission Science Vessel isn't really my cup of tea from a design standpoint. Also not much of a problem, but this has caused me to replace ships in the past.
The Universe Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Cruiser is extremely hard to come by and accumulating the EC needed to buy one from the exchange (if I ever find one there) will probably cost me more real life money than getting both of the above. It also has a sucky boff layout.

Now, what do I do? Keep my T6 Vesta (like I said before, I don't want to replace it, but I have gotten so enamored with the Temporal spec that I consider getting a "full" Temporal starship), or get one of these? And if I should get one of these, which one?

PS: What are the chances that we ever get specialization tokens for ships (like one that could give Molecular Reconstruction to my Vesta)? Because that would make this question irrelevant.

Didn't you create an entire thread asking about this very same thing?? I'll give the same answer: Not likely as it would cut into ship sales. You ask how? You answered that yourself with the end of the above statement: "Because it would make this question (in ref to with what ship do I replace my T6 Vesta) irrelevnat." You'd buy the token, which arguably would end up costing less than a full T6 ship, instead of the new ship with the BOFF seating that you're looking for.

Should you? I have no idea, fly whatever you want.
Would I? Hell no, my Brigid (T6 Vesta) is my favourite ship and I absolutely love it.

That being said, Eternal *is* probably the best science vessel, stat-wise, so if you don't care about ship visuals that much, it would probably be a *slight* upgrade over Vesta.

Paladin is not a science vessel, hence it's not really compareable to either Vesta or Eternal. But it is a decent ship.

Universe - looking at stats, one of the worst T6 vessels currently in-game. Unless flying a massive ship that covers your whole screen sounds like something you'd enjoy, avoid.

I love my tier 6 vesta on my fed Sci captain. She's a lovely ship and I absolutely enjoy her. Loved the vestas since they have come out. should of just bought the packs for these ships and no other tier 5 or 6 ships except for the delta pack and the temporal agent pack.

    I agree with this.

As a captain of an Eternal, I can say it's a really good ship. That said, I am planning to get the Vesta pack too, simply because I like how they look. The Vesta was my first end-game ship, only replaced by the Pathfinder and the Eternal when they both came out. Even if I'd say the Eternal is one of the best out there, I'm really splitting hairs at this point. The Eternal is "better" only if you are chasing top numbers.

For all your other choices, it really depends on how you like to build your ships and how you fly them. The Vesta and the Eternal are both Science vessels and they are distinct enough from your other choices.

If you really want to switch to a ship with molecular reconstruction, I'd recommend the Eternal class. It is close enough to the Vesta boff layout wise that you could move into it with very little adjustment. That's precisely what I did with my Fed Sci, moved from the Tier 5 Vesta to the Eternal, before the Tier 6 Vesta's came out. The other advantage to this, as you know, is being able to use Commander level Temporal abilities. When Tier 6 Vestas did come out, I was already settled into the Eternal and didn't want to shell out another 3000 zen for a ship that is almost identical stats wise but would lose the Reconstruction beam.

But since you already have the Tier 6 Vesta and haven't spent more zen yet, I personally would probably stick with what you've got. I'm not sure I'd spend the zen to move from Tier 6 to Tier 6, with almost identical boff and console layout, just to gain the Reconstruction Beam. Just a thought...

Right now lobi and many lockbox ships are gong cheap on the exchange, whereas cstore stuff is always the same price barring a few days of sales a few times a year, so at least consider sphere builder sci ship or carrier. In terms of temporal abilities and sci the Eternal will probably never be topped. If you love sci the Paradox is currently about as cheap as they ever get.

I got the Sphere builder science vessel for my Reman sci...it's got the perfect boff layout for me (running a torp/EPG build) but the turn rate is abysmal. I could add turn consoles, but then I'd reduce my EPG effectiveness. Just my experience with the Sphere builder Sci vessel.

Thank you all for your answers. The truth is, all I want is basically Molecular Reconstruction. If I should get the opportunity, I'll try out the Eternal (and master it to get the trait), but I think I'll stick with my Vesta.

@baddmoonrizin : You can close the thread, my question has been answered. Also, you're right about the specialization tokens, no one would need a Temporal starship anymore if they can just give their current ship the temporal abilities.

I would never use a Paladin. The Chronos basically does everything the Paladin can do, is tougher, has a better BOFF layout and a hangar.
