I use the raider on various characters, but not all the time.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

No it isn't. What ships is mechanically better is objective. There is numbers to back up why one is ship better than another for DPS. Now a DPS for space magic ship won't be the same as one for weapon DPS, but what is better is objective. What is a better ship for YOU is subjective because that includes personal taste.

Gotta disagree. While in general you could use a metric of "what is the maximum DPS squeezable out of a ship" to create a ranking, this has many drawbacks.

    1) Abilities of the pilots (i. e. the players). With high scale builds, timing of abilities becomes extremely important. Not every player can max that out, so a build, and thus maybe a ship, with more lenience would be better for them.

    2) In general, ships that have the highest potential for damage, do not have to be those with the highest damage if you don't have the correct equipment setup.

    3) Different enemies mean different weaknesses mean different optimal builds against them mean different ships best suited to fight them.

So you'd have to find a mix of player strength, player ability to get some equipment, and enemies, if you want a "generally best ship" to even somewhat objectively measure this. But then the mix itself is highly subjective. It is like comparing a Formula 1 car, a pick-up truck and a Tesla, asking which is the best car.

This whole issue is very pertinent in economic analyses. And the best you can come up with of "being objectively better" is "A dominates B", which means that A is better in at least one aspect, while inferior in no aspect at all. Apart from comparing different tiers, this doesn't happen with ships. Sure, many people may agree that the T6 Scimi beats a T5-U Marauder hands down, me being one of them. But it isn't objectively measurable. Because as long as there is one circumstance where the Marauder has advantages, it isn't universal.

I think the problem with that ship is that it has no faction materials, Klingon, Romulan, Federation, as it was, back in the day, the Dyson Destroyer. We know there is faction specific temporal ships, so why not in the 31 century?, you should be able to customice your ship to your appeal, it makes sense..

Well, it is 600 years in the future for our 25th century setting. When I look 600 years back from now, what people were wearing in different parts of the world differed way more than it does today. There may be some galaxy-scale trends by then, especially when allied and friendly.

don't dismiss the Aquarius Light Escort, the challenge is to make do with what you have, just look at the 'dps gawds' that get 50k to 100k out of a t1/ t2 constitution, if they can do that then i'm sure there is a way to use the Aquarius Light Escort to good effect.......even w/o having the newest clicky or boff seating

But the point is, if 'dps gawds' can get 50k to 100k out of an Aquarius, they could get 75k to 150k out of a better ship. :)

The whole..."better ship" thing is largely subjective.

No it isn't. What ships is mechanically better is objective. There is numbers to back up why one is ship better than another for DPS. Now a DPS for space magic ship won't be the same as one for weapon DPS, but what is better is objective. What is a better ship for YOU is subjective because that includes personal taste.

Oh yea? Where? Do they list the Ship and MAX possible DPS for EACH and EVERY ship? For Each Captain type?! Where is this chart?

If you talking Dps tables..Those show some outstanding PLAYERS..but that doesn't mean The ships aren't capable. I know Astro doesn't fly these ships very often. (Kinda lie if I jumped in an Escort or Cruiser after all my time in a sci ship)

As for the term "mechanical" probably the wrong choice..There might be Boff layouts there are more Favorable for 'some' players for DPS..But the does not guarantee the UBER dps.(See this ALOT in pugs)..

Just cuz I outfit my self in a Scimitar with all the Epic gear, traits, rep, spec the DPS gawds use means nothing (I've literally seen people do 5k dps with a copy paste. Its purely up to the pilot to make it work.

Astrozombie did a fun series of vids before season 13 essentially proving any ship could hit 100k+. Heck a ship many people though was horrible (the DSD) he did the most dps with for a t5u sci ship in his own runs 152k (pug run)..

I use 100k as this is literally double what is needed to solo ISA..If you can do 50k in a ship..Very little in the PVE world can bother you...And really..Anything above 100k is just for braggin rights (Its like what..10% of players got that high)..

^Check it out [look at his playlist]^ ..These are what he did with all manner of ships..Including and Aquarius (136k) and and Oroborus (134k Before the Season 13 nerf)...Even the Malon Battle Cruiser (who the heck flys thos?!)

This is his "Cannon" type builds.. All of them Cleared 100k..

I don't know about appearance. This is mine using the Nukara shield and Lukari Deflector visuals. It's not too shabby to my eyesscreenshot_2017_06_06_15_08_14.jpg

Same and I been using it as well, for quite some time. Good ship it is.

If I was going to fly a raider, it'd be the Temporal Raider, but I'm a disaster in escorts, I just can't control them well at all, I literally flew on Flight Deck Raptor like a cruiser.

Can anyone who has flown both the Ouroboros and the Kazon raider, comment on the handling and performance of the Ouroboros in relation to the Kazon Raider?

Only got the Eternal cause it sort of looks okay, and it's a specialty fleet grade C-store sci ship with temporal that seems 100% suited for science, and that all my toons can use, unlike the better monster Eidoulg (or however it's spelled) which is a big weird sphere only one character can use that has frigates unlocks too. I made an effort to craft shields for faction specific visuals to try to make it look more klingon and romulan, but it's still hopelessly a federation Wells spinoff.

I'm sticking to my Malem, Faeht, Kor, D4x, and other Klingon and Romulan birds of prey since I'm after faction-specific role play experience and not another fed-size fits all attempt to downplay the might of the other empires over this fed melting pot future vision. Plus some of those make for proper stealth bombers.

Otherwise, the Fed Raider's looks has grown on me minus that weird bridge section like two mouths sticking out, but never going to buy it or care for it. Last C-Store sale, besides the new sci xfaction bundle I also picked up, of all ships, the Jhu’ael, and it's definitely proving to be a handful to fly as it was meant to be.

Design-wise I didn't like the 31st Century ships a great deal as they just looked very generic to me, the raider at least looked okay to me but I have to use certain shield visuals to make it look even remotely good.

I agree. Of course, where they are "better" at also differs. Some ships will be better for DPS, some for PVP, some for tanking or healing, etc... In the hands of equally skilled pilots, some ships will shine better than others. While all ships can be pushed to pretty high performance levels, some ships will simply have a higher ceiling than the rest. It's why you see the same ships topping DPS charts, or as @patrickngo stated, why some ships are more prevalent in PvP.

The 31rst Century pack is the best money/zen you can spend in the game. Great ships that work on ALL your characters. I find myself constantly going back to the Eternal and the Raider even after new ships have come out.

Built-in raider flanking coupled with Int/strat specs makes for some epic flanking damage. Adequate weapon layout, although only being 4:2 hurts it a little, I'm still posting good numbers. Built-in battle cloak.

Yes it's a glass cannon, like all 'scorts
You know it's a Raider, not an Escort, right? That's why it has Raider Flanking and 6 weps.

But yeah, it's an awesome little ship.
