wouldn't the bank console in a stronghold be just as unusable as all the other ones ingame? as i recall from my brief play session months back, they're all interactable, but if you don't have a sub or haven't purchased any slots, they basically say 'get lost, loser'
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

STO is the slums of New Delhi while SWTOR is Beverly Hills. Then, why ask a poll of a competing MMO in an STO forum. You will get lots of fanboys and STO cultists
So if the question was "Which cuisine do you prefer - French or Italian?" your answer would be "Have you even tried riding on a bus in Rome?"
But I agree in as far as asking this question in the different forums may yield different results. Though I doubt that the tendency - in F2P, mind you - would lean towards SWTOR.

You're truly high if you think TOR has a better F2P system...or just mentally challenged.
Or you're a TOR fanboy and you're just voting to be stupid...anyone with a right mind who has played both knows STO has a much better system...TOR is basically sub or die...you can't do jack besides the basic story without a sub.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
SWTOR is lousy for F2P. They can ban you anytime if you progress too fast and have too much credit. I got invited into a fleet and started to make lots of credit to buy future gear. It is an autobanning by system which even the game administrator are not aware why you are banned. To request for unbanned you have to make a phone call which is stupid if you live in another country as the cost is enormous.
There are lots of other game which have more friendly customer support. They would not survive if they keep on autobanning new players.

Lol..They do love this autoban stuff..I had created an F2P account on the far east server (Asia & Australia)..When that server shut down I lost my account because I was F2P whilst others were shifted to the US & UK servers..It was like EA/Bioware saying "Your garbage"..SWTOR is basically survivng because of the F2P players.. The last I read their sub base fell to 500000 there about..
I like both franchises but I grew up more with Trek from TOS all the way till JJ Trek..Also The ST franchise is older than the SW franchise by about 11 years I think..
there trade system can make it very F2P as you can earn plat and pay for everything. as well as login bonuses can grant 50% off in the market.
that's a good F2P system.
Basically this is only between STO & SWTOR as both are solid franchises on their own and this is to see the overall F2P nature of both their MMO's..As for the market system STO is also friendly and allows you to get all the forms of ingame currency as F2P with a little grinding..SWTOR does not..
STO F2P economy (LVL1-60)..
EC = easilyu available thruough multiple sources..
Dil = If done smartly you can churn out alot daily..
Zen = Through the dil exchange..
Lobi = Through lockboxes witrh keys bought of the C-store.
SWTOR F2P economy (LVL1-50)..
Credits = Easy to get but once you hit 200000 you need cartel coins to remove your credits from escrow..Also there is nothing good for below 1mil in the galatic exchange..
Galatic Starfighter rep = used for upgrading your fighter but is a sever grind worse than delta rising..
Cartel coins = 30 per chapter completed once per server, after that nothing and your forced to buy..

If by "Beverly Hills" you mean "everything's ridiculously expensive," then I agree.
First thing we should do is consider and compare the budgets of SWTOR and STO.
They are very, very different funding models for game development. SWTOR probably has 10x the budget and 10x the personnel on staff.
So costs are lopsided right off the bat.
Add to that, most shareholders of Video Game companies probably want at least the Average Return on investment across the MMO industry. Whatever that figure may be.
So while STO has the better, more welcoming F2P model, by far, they (STO) also probably have a smaller profit margin to recover.
STO is basically like 10 guys/girls working in a rented building.
Minimal budget.. minimal manpower. Yet somehow they manage to hit above their weight at almost every turn.
Makes me wonder what they could do with a budget and team size comparable to SWTOR.
Haven't played SWTOR in about 2 years now, since I'm happy with what STO does.
seriously play DCUO guys... youll love SWTOR afterwards
You realize that is like saying seriously guys, try getting kicked in the nads 100 times...you'll love getting punched in the face afterwards.
more like kicked in the nads 100 times and shat upon versus lightly pimp slapped once.... DCUO is that punitive to people that give it money but dont sub
I voted none since Warframe has the Best free to play model. EVERYTHING in the market can be farmed for in game, or traded with other players. Even the currencies are down to 3. Ducats, Platinum, and credits. Ducats are like Lobi, Platinum is the premium currency and credits are like energy credits. Plus Warframe's market is mostly cosmetic. Hell, even the devs themselves said you don't have to spend a single dime to get anything in the game. You can just grind everything out in game and get everything. And the only timegating is for crafting. You can run missions back to back to back without being forced to wait umpteen hours.
After all that's being done to STO, and the major nerfs coming, I seriously doubt I''ll be here much longer.

DCUO has a couple of things that is better than SWTOR. It had a Lifetime Subscription which I am not certain if it available for purchase anymore and unlimited Lockbox keys if you have subscribed. Of course, you have to find each lockbox and they are likely not tradeable. It is likely that a player might find one Lockbox per hour.

You can grind everything out in sto though except a few minor cosmetic things.
This ^^. Plus what's even better about STO than anyother MMO is that real world $'s and £'s can't make you more powerful, nor give you an unfair advantage ingame. Game-time equals power here
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Lifetime Subscription depends on if you are on the PC or console if you can grind it out. Most of the things that were originally unavailable through a grind are now in the Phoenix Pack. Only items like the Andorian Light Escort, Command Assault Cruiser, Party Poppers, and certain preorder items are not available to grind.

Well... yes and no. While STO is certainly not Pay2Win by any definition, it is "Pay2HaveNow". You can either grind out a ship over time, or buy zen and get it right off the bat.
The only way I can see it being Pay2Win is buying Zen, trading for large sums of Dilithium, and spending all that traded DL on gear upgrades up to mk XIV Gold. That is literally the only thing that could be considered Pay2Win. Everything else you have to spend ECs, fleet credits, DL, or grind reps for. However... just because you have all Epic gear doesn't mean you know how to use it. Right now the only "I Win" button is the current Meta Build that actually takes some work to set up. And Meta Builds change with the times. In my time playing STO we've gone through... I think 4 meta builds now?
Escorts Online
Romulans Online
Aux2Batt
FAW everything
I have no doubt we will see a new meta build after the new season with the coming balance pass as FAW will not be king of DPS anymore. Who knows... maybe it will be Space Magic Online or Escorts Online 2.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

SWTOR screwed me over for so much stuff when it went F2P.
Never returning to that pile of nerf... TRIBBLE.
Spock to Kirk, as Kirk is about to hug him.
