Just curious. I'm sure there are a lot of people who will be trying for the 26th Century Dreads, so I'm hoping the boxes will sell for a decent amount. As for the Dreads themselves, they will be too out of my reach financially, and while they look very powerful, I personally enjoy ships with higher turn rates. My main Tac toon needs a new ship, and I've been saving for the NX Escort refit, so that's what I'm hoping to buy after selling a few boxes.
Anyone else looking to buy a different ship by selling R&D boxes?

Did it already. Got the U-boat, sold it for 275 keys, opened 175 lockboxes and sold the rest of the keys, got two Infinity T6 boxes (got the Krenim Warship for Zeus and the Kelvin Warbird for Tolata), an ultra rare T6 (Acheros for Stebaynir), two T5s (Narcine for Karatek and Timeship for Zz'ig), and four secondaries which I have yet to open.

Used the Lobi combined with what I already had to get an NX-Refit to trade for the Olaen, and also bought an Ateleth and a Contortrix.

All in all, a good day.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Yup OP sums up everything wrong in the way things are done as far as these promos go. Farmers snap them up then resell them for insane prices and suckers buy them. Don't think for a second I'm butt hurt could really care less about these. Shrug someone will always profit from shafting someone else. Have fun getting ripped off.

What you consider "insane" prices others consider pocket change. People can try and sell these ships at whatever price they want, buyers will dictate whether it is worth the asking price or not.

For "not being butt hurt", your post clearly sounds like it.

Nope could care less as the old saying goes a suckers born every minute and fool and thier money/EC are easily parted.

Thanks! I was surprised I pulled it off as well. I'm betting I used all my luck for the next five years to do that.

They can be put up on the Exchange. BUT as the Exchange doesn't allow you to list for more than 750 Million EC - those that want more (or a combo of EC + Master Keys) don't put theirs up.

EC is pretty much inflated, Keys are the best way to hold wealth.

I did not planned it, but since I plan to get a fleet ship for one of my chars some time in the future I thought it a better investment to spend 240 zen on a promo box which was sold for 19 mil and buy the 16 mil Fleet module with that instead of spending 500 zen for a fleet module.

When those ships are in the Z store I'll agree to the zero gambling/RNG statement. Till then it doesn't hold water.

If you can buy the ships on the exchange or from another player for EC or trade items, how exactly are you gambling?

On the market price influenced by rarity of the RNG/Gambling odds increasing and decreasing the availability/price. This is much less stable then a fixed price in the online store.

If you try to define what you consider reasonable, you'll find it's very, very subjective.

Consider spending £120 for a premium ship ingame. I used to blow that semi-regularly attending wargames conventions - even for a weekend, once you put together the ticket, B&B and travel, it cost. I got nothing from it except the fun of meeting people and playing wargames. Now I've got other responsibilities, I would not dream of doing so - but that's wholly subjective.

I also read a blog recently about a guy (not rich) who spent $450 on a top-tier restaurant meal. He'd saved the money up and to him the experience was worth it. There are *lots* of ways to spend money with nothing to show except having had fun. As long as the individual feels the fun was worth the cost, it's all good.

I used the boxes to spend almost the able amount on the D4x as if I had purchased a c-store ship.

So the weekend worked out for me.

Silly question! Of course some people are! The trick is actually doing it. Personally, it never works out for me, so stopped trying to play the Exchange. :'(

Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Buy promo packs, wait a couple months, sell them.

    Aint rocket science!

I have a clear memory of you being the first person to do this. As I remember it, you made many, many space fortunes doing this with successive promo packs while a majority of the playerbase were holding back - they were still trying to figure out if they vanished from inventories after the promo ended.
