Breach event

What do you think of that Event? Will you partizipate?

This is not the first of those Events and I know that many of my friends who normally religiously follow every single Event missed out on that one. And so did I.

I do not like the Breech Mission for a few reasons:
the first part is very Star Wars and not star trek.
the Mission is too Long
the rewards weren't (and prob aren't for this one either) worth wasting time - there were easier ways to get Dilithium, even without an Event.

I had had the Feeling that the Event wasn't popular (maybe biased as I hated it). So I am quite surprised that they will repeat it.
Now I want to know if either I am wrong and People like the Event (more or at least equally to Mirror Invasion/ Crystal Event / ...) or if Cryptic got it wrong because they don't listen to Players?
Let me know what you think!

It's scaled down so even shorter than before. From the first description the first part on the outside may have been removed.
The voth are easy prey for exotic and temporal powers so it should be easy as pie.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It's just Generator room and Core room and then escape.

Seems that they are listening to complaints about the length for these 21-day Events to make them more Alt friendly.

Now if the Mirror Incursion is fixed appropriately we should be good. Of course nothing will ever be as short as the Crystalline Event, but still good.

Also read what it says. After the Event is over this is returning as a regular PVE Queue.

I actually like The Breach from the start. It'd be a shame if they cut the Death Star trench bit.

Not a huge fan, but will do it on my main no matter what since I do all events on my main character.

Might do it on my main, but depends how short it is and/or if the Voth weapon is and account unlock.

I plan on doing it whether the weapon is an account-wide unlock or not.

Looks like the PWE chinese bosses are asking for new metrics for STO? That time of the year again.

Ehh...probably a pass for me except my Ferasan for which I collect melee weapons on...if it were the Admirality ship then I would have...but melee is meh in this game. (And this is from a primarily melee player in other mmos)

Of course I will participate. We can get a Voth weapon.

The last Breach project is still in my event cue and I remember the 6 months of not playing STO that followed from the burnout. It's good to hear they made some cuts. Hopefully I'll enjoy it this time. I hope Mirror Invasion is up for revisions next.

though I was the only one who hated this event, or the STF for that.
TOO LONG! This thing is worth 2 STFs.
The trench run should be one, and the inner part another one.

The trench run is a waste of time. Everything dying in one hit... what is the point?

I don't know, I'd say the hangars were the best parts of the mission. That's what they cut? Whereas doing the lap around the ship is pointless, the generator room with its magic teleporting reactor is annoying and the core room with its magic spinning crazy reactor is just ridiculous.

Personally, I'd use the original outdoors sequence where players split up to take down the power nodes (and actually had to take down the nodes instead of just racing around the path as fast as possible). Then have the players enter through the dreadnought hangar, proceed through the smaller ship hangar and into the reactor room, which would have a traditional "core and turrets" boss instead of the crazy magic reactor. Escape while the ship is exploding and have us shoot a fuel tank or something to make the giant hole in the side that we then escape from (because having our ships easily blow up an ESD-sized chunk out of the Fortress with their own weapons makes it seem totally unnecessary to actually fly into the ship at all).

Question is: Will we see new space balance changes in Thursday's patch notes, and before that on Tribble? Or will they rather use a revamped NWS for that, and give themselves more time?

Also, I like that from the look of the images they use, the queue has been visually removed from the Solanae Dyson Sphere and put into space.

I'm guessing that's the reason why they brought it back.

Yeah...sucks now everything has to be a 2 minute milk run so can spend 58 minutes with nothing to do because everyone wants instant gratification...don't people know it's better if you take your time? >.<

    Exact wording from the Blog:

'Now players will be able to follow a shortened path, complete just the engineering room and the core room, and escape before the Voth Fortress Ship blows up.

We have also addressed some quality of life issues, implemented better path communication, and objective adjustments with an eye towards a faster completion time.'

Remains to be seen what that actually means when it's released.

Guys! I have seen maybe one or two other persons here who know what to focus on. It's not the time to complete the queue that is important here.

We're getting a VOTH weapon. The one the VOTH SPEC OPS are using. We can even better pretend to be VOTH after this event!

    VOTH!!!

    We're getting a VOTH weapon!!!

We're... ok I'll stop now before I'm locked away... but I do think this is awesome : D

It's not the instant gratification so much as the alternate grinding and burnout after two weeks. The winter/summer/anniversary events aren't so bad since those missions are relatively short with account ship unlocks. The Crystaline event is short and only takes 14 days. This last holodeck event, which could take longer, was at least another account unlock and only three days. The Mirror and last year's Breach events however... They're getting just a mite too long to run on multiple characters in the allotted time.

Ok then I'll respond to a time-related post.

I think it'll be a lot easier to complete this mission on multiple characters now, if that description is accurate. The initial run + the hangar bay part combined took quite some time. If by 'core room' they mean the one at the very end (not the one with three sub cores) and the engineering room is supposed to be the one with the Citadel Dread in it, then it will probably be significantly shorter.

I do hope that they'll give us the full mission after the event is over though. The original mission was really enjoyable, not if you have to do it 14 times within a short period on multiple characters of course, but as a normal non-event queue I'd prefer the original over the very short version.

I liked the old one, but "shorter" has a good argument. My favorite fight was in the "door" room.

It could end up as a Very Rare prize for the Phoenix Prize Pack since that is where the Cochrane Shotgun, Crystalline Spike Kit Module, Crystalline Energy Torpedo Launcher, and likely where the Sompek Lightning Kit Module and Crystal Radiation Projector will go. So it is a matter of getting the Fangs during the event or wait until it is available in the Phoenix Prize Pack.
  • ltminnsltminns Member Posts: 12,572 Arc User
Unfortunately, while it could move into a future Phoenix Prize Pack in the Very Rare category, it will most likely drop as a Mk XIII Rare item when we get it.
