The issue has been looked at several times but it can never get straightened out. The last time the problem of hangar units really came back on these boards was the release of the Feds' T6 Jupiter and their frigates which were just godd*mn awful.
Yeah I remember that. Still no patch that fixed them either...they still suck the proverbial donkey balls.
IIRC there were attempts on 2 patches to fix the Callistos. But Callistos gonna Callisto.
Just checked the Galaxy-x, Galaxy, Odyssey (chevron and aquarius), Hestia, and the D'Kyr and they all worked. And by worked I mean they attacked my target, shot gravity wells, etc. Even the little Tal'Kyr support craft healed me (haven't seen that in a long while lol). They never despawned on their own (except for the Tal'Kyr when it died, but that's what it's supposed to do).

When the sheshar came out it certainly did stuff as did the support craft from its console. The oddy saucer used to fly around and shoot stuff as well.
Main problem carriers have is that the pets don't dock quickly (if at all) so moving from a to b leaves them behind unless you're at half speed. If they're close enough frigates do shoot at things but if you summon them at the wrong time they get left behind and are often in that area. Fighters seem to have a shorter despawn range and they can die pretty fast so aren't all that great.
During the last bonus xp period I levelled an alt and gave them a spell in the d'kyr and the shuttle did just vanish.
Not tried using seperation based pets for a while.
I am hoping that if we see them putting out more ships that use pets, regardless of the ships using hanger or seperation based ones, that they implement a deeper control ui for them that you can toggle on even. Being able to take manual control of when, as well as on who the pet's use their abilities would be nice. Though there are other things that would be nice to see implemented to improve the value of pets (hanger and seperation based) against the things that are sacrificed to gain access to them (like weapons slots, console, and other such things), such as consoles that impart some of the bonuses gained from slotted console to your pet's, but that is something that in truth would come after fixing the current issues.
I like that the saucer disapears when not in combat. This allows you to just fly around with the battle bridge.
I think this is what happened. The Ho'sus took off when the Red Alert ended.
I was replaying "Mine Enemy" and launched it during the one space fight at the beginning, just for kicks. I'll hop on and check an episode that has more than one space battle.
Can anyone confirm this?, i'm at work and cannot log in until tomorrow, and i'll love to be able to use my favorite ships again..
Nope, not fixed - at least not completely. Just tried a Crystalline Entity with my fleet T6 Galaxy-X. Went right up to the entity, started firing, and then separated saucer and launched Scorpions. Scorpions stuck around to fight, saucer maybe fired off a phaser beam (couldn't tell for sure with all the stuff on-screen) and then itself faded out into nothing.
Can anyone confirm this?, i'm at work and cannot log in until tomorrow, and i'll love to be able to use my favorite ships again..

It was obviously destroyed by a disintegration ray. RIP crew of Galaxy-X saucer.
So very sad to hear. I'll be testing my separation ships as well after this Arena event is over but given the replies so far, it seems Cryptic needs to keep working on it until it is fixed.

Galaxy Saucer still bugged on PS4. The saucer will separate but will not engage enemies and recall doesn't work. Glad I figured this out on a free ship before i dropped money for the Prometheus.
