As for styling. If I remember correctly the costume director had lots of different commands on what he was not allowed to show. Like belly buttons. So to have within limitations attractive costumes to show off the various actresses, he had to make costumes show the sides like this outfit, or the miniskirt as used in the main uniforms. And if I recall the story. One inspector had to be taken out and gotten drunk so they could film the mirror episode.

wouldnt surprise me, I recall the actress that played maryanne from gilligan's island had to modify the waist line of her short shorts to cover her navel to get away with her outfit for that show
Looks like you'll get your wish. My Fleet just unlocked the K-13 tailor and the androids' outfits are one of the two outfits available to buy.
still not worth the hell of joining a fleet
While I'm not sure I'll ever understand where the concept of "the hell of joining a fleet," there's enough people out there who seem to share that opinion, I guess there might be something to it. Ah well.
If you change your mind, if you ever have been in a fleet long enough to get some Fleet Credits, all you need is an invite to a properly leveled K-13 map, as the costumes require Dil and FC's only, no provisions. If you haven't got the FC's, you do need to join a fleet long enough to dump something into a project, Fleet Marks have a good return, and are easily picked up in STF's. My fleet always has a FM dump project open. So if you change your mind, send me a message ingame. I can get you set up very easily. Once you have your uniform, you are free to leave, no strings attached. Just one endgame Space Barbie enthusiast helping out another.
I have joined 3 fleets anda fter joining I was told I had to tithe 20K dilithium a day just to be part of the fleet. no, I'm not paying a fee to be part of some fleet just to get access toa store that amy or may never be granted. i don't get to play much and I'll just have to do without

Those fleets werent worth being in.. I can name several that do not require you to donate anything ever to be part of the fleet. Some require a certain level of donation to get access to fleet store but its usually quite reasonable, like 35k, and you can take however long you want to get there.

Like mine. our only rule is not to raid the bank then leave.
Well, while not worth making a separate thread on this but I figure to piggyback since it's related by subject.
K-13 holdings with the tailor unlocked (requires Tier III K-13 *and* additional tailor project) allow for purchase 2 outfits. Exo III and the TOS Starfleet working jumpsuit. The Exo III is the one the K-13 Android "Andrea" uses. Here's my Fed Alien Gen character with it:
Upper Jacket Loose has a top version with a shirt but I can't change the shirt's color. The canon look is under Bare Chest. During my, uhhh... research... I came across this reference of the character from the show with varied angles.

So she definitely is 100% uncustomizable?
You can't even change the outfit?
That takes all the fun out of it!
To explain, I got tired of BOFFs I couldn't customize, starting with the infamous Borg Sci Boff.
Then the trend continues with the Breen, the Reman and the Jem'Hadar.
It's boring having them all be identical.
The thing I like most about the Veteran Android was I could reconfigure them to whatever species I wanted:
That's her in the background, the one to the left.
I reasoned that she wanted to take on the appearance of her Captain, so made the external modifications to look like she was from that species.
I might have wanted to do this with Andrea, to have two BOFFs like this.
Or make her into a Romulan if that was what I wanted to do.
But if she's uncustomizable, then no matter how impressive/useful she is in gameplay, I won't want her, because I don't take costume restricted BOFFs into my crew (with the exception of the featured episode BOFFs.)
Hopefully Cryptic will unlock her appearance customization in time.

This pretty much sums it up. These are the fleets you want to be a part of. Shameless plug bellow:

You cut off the top of the tailor screen. Can it be worn by Boffs? Or is it captain only?

She is literally supposed to be the same android model from that episode of TOS. How can there be customization given that premise?
I always reasoned the hard part with making any android was constructing the neural module.
That the mechanical shell which holds it isn't all that special.
So therefore, modifying the external appearance shouldn't be that difficult.
Or heck, even at a basic level, she could just dye her hair a different color, that's easy to do!
In any case, changing just the outfit alone should be permitted, it is just clothing after all and very easy to swap for a Starfleet uniform.
There are seriously fleets that lock out your store access because you don't donate? That's not very nice!
My fleet has a rather simple system, you want store access, just start donating.
Once we see you're contributing, we open up the permissions so you can go shopping.
Which you'd have to do anyway to earn the fleet credits to buy from the various vendors.
And it doesn't have to be much lol, even 500credits worth of donations says "I want to buy fleet stuff".

Your BOFFs can wear the attire also I tried it on a non-K-13 Android and this magnificent specimen of a Gorn:
hmm. Two outfits making a lie about the do not show belly buttons. What season was this? I would like to see if it is before or after the mirror episode.

According to Memory Alpha: Season 3, Episode 19. So over a season later (Mirror, Mirror is Season 2, Episode 10)

But it's still useful. I makes a great coat-rack by the front door when it's batteries are dead.

i meant for real.
It's like complaining you can't put a Voyager skin on the T6 Constitution. The whole point is that it looks like the thing from TOS

I thought that was what they called Vulcan cookies?

Need to program him to randomly shriek "one point twenty-one GIGA WATTS!?!" during combat, lol.
