i pretty doubt it .. coz the problem with dx11 and amd cards under windows 10 for example .. is well known since months , since the release of the crimson drivers .. and they did nothing. they told us "hey disable dx11 and use dx9" and now they messed upped dx9 too and telling us "use dx11"
i am not going to buy a nvidia card only for this game, so as a player who played since the beta, i have to drop this game.
Today the launcher said "Support for DX9 will end on march ... Switch to DX11 !" How the TRIBBLE can I switch to DX11 when your stupid game crashes the whole PC when I switch to DX11 on my 400EUR Card ?!?
Hey folks, we've received the reports that there's issues with Direct 3D9 and we're looking into a fix. The easiest solution - if your machine can handle it - is to upgrade to Direct 3D 11. As soon as we have more info we'll pass it on.
For the record, DX11 is no fix at all. My rig can handle DX11 on every other title. GTA 5 runs very high settings without issue. Loading STO with DX11 causes map transfers (nearly every one) to freeze my entire machine, drop the game client from the open applications list in 'task manager,' and hide all of my desktop icons as well as any open programs -- STO game client persists on the taskbar, but cannot be interacted with in any way. This can only be recovered by hard reset. This started the day you introduced this year's Q update. Additionally, verifying the integrity of the game cache [via Steam] yields *2 missing files* EVERY SINGLE TIME the game is launched. After they are reacquired, the Cryptic Autolauncher must undergo a 27MB+ update. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And then, once all that has been attended to, the first map transfer freeze-crashes the game -- AGAIN -- in just such a way as to deny you any ability to force-close it. Then we are back to a mandatory reset and the whole process starts again. The functional state of the game currently is an embarrassment. It is broken, unplayable, and unstreamable, all of which you managed in one update. I'm not sure if hackers paid to destroy the game could have done as much in a single patch. Please make this fix an immediate priority. Breaking your own game makes the whole organization look pretty amateurish, which makes your customer base leery of recommending STO to friends. Maybe throw in some free promotional items for the countless hours your players have wasted trying to troubleshoot and fix this issue on their ends. Couldn't hurt to seem a little contrite, considering the circumstances.
PRIOR to entering your password check the following:
Click Options then ensure On-demand Patching is not selected and Force Verify is selected then Save and try logging in with your password. This will ensure the game client is properly patched to the most current version.
Why is this thread dead??? There has been no official word aside from "try dx11" in the THREE WEEKS since you bricked the game on many AMD systems.
Have you no shame? No pride in your product? For 2 weeks my AOY toon was stuck at SF Academy behind a loading screen that would crash the game and freeze my system. After hours of troubleshooting, the only change is that I can now log in that AOY toon, but suffer the same freeze-crash on a different KDF toon, last logged in the Delta quadrant. Your silence on this issue is deafening, and should be a source of shame. This is your failing. Own it, grow a collective spine and tell the playerbase what exactly you intend to do about it (and when). For me personally, you have until the close of the winter event to offer an explanation. After that, if no further effort has been made -- and I'm not holding my breath -- I just won't bother logging in anymore.
Your technical support and community outreach stink. Work on that. For the record, it was upon force-verifying and turning off 'on-demand patching' that I was able to finally log in my AOY toon after two weeks. Immediately afterwards the same problem arose for a KDF character, which continues unabated. Your reputation is at stake, and I would guess that you're quickly running out of time to do anything about it. Act fast or do nothing. The choice is yours. Just know that there are consequences to those choices, whatever they happen to be.
