I suspect its the "Shield Frequency Analyst" Trait. I notice the shield button on the HUD is lit up, and that looks like a graphical depiction of a scan of the shields.

I got something like this fighting the Hirogen in Narrenda but only once.

    Were you fighting Hirogen?

You've got worms. A topical anti-fungal cream should do the trick.

There's always turning off all your traits. If it still pops up, at least you've eliminated those sources.

It's a buff of some sort. After looking at the vid and pausing when it pops and when an enemy is targeting you I see that the only effects on you are active abilities/buffs (the green squares) and passive abilities/buffs (the blue squares). Unfortunately you don't have the main nameplate/status panel on the screen so we can't tell exactly what you have activated, as some of the icons are a bit too small to make out.

Edit: I'm blind. The icons are right above your shield panel. I'm so used to looking at the top left corner to see my buffs/debuffs that I didn't notice. Still not sure which is which though. Although, now that I think about it, it looks like it pops when your torpedoes hit. What weapons are you running?

I have no idea, but if you ever find out, please, be sure to post it here. (and not just "I figured it out", but also what it was.) :)

Does it happen when you kill something?
There's a few traits that may give you a buff when killing things (Spoils of the Victor springs to mind).

WHICH abilities are cooled? i was thinking for a few seconds it might've been reciprocity after seeing that, but i have it on a few characters and i don't recall ever seeing that type of efect when it triggers...then again, i don't really pay attention to the effects anymore - it's all just a massive blur of colors nowadays anyway

could be all hands on deck, though - that cools stuff down and i've never seen its effect

@saber1973a : In addition to what @tom61sto said, the MACO warp bubble is blue with a hexagonal pattern on it.

    The mystery continues...
What doffs are you using ?
    Any newer ones ?

Have you tried playing without any Doffs equipped ? Stabbing in the dark here.

It's not the following items as I've got them and never seen this effect before:

-Reciprocity (not actually sure what effect this has, if any)
-All Hands On Deck (again, not sure it has an effect)
-Fleet shield visual (that is a sort of hex-pattern of rings that move front to back over your ship)
-MACO shield visual (i'm pretty sure its not from that as i've used it previously without the same ring effect, unless they changed it)
    - Ablative Field Projector (this just gives you temp HP and changes your hull HUD to a white colour)
    - Battle Ready (this is a series of grey/white boxes that pop up over your hull, plus a sound effect)
    - Predictive Algorithms

Actually, LOL, I noticed I'm getting that red ring too, occassionally, but it's hard to pinpoint where it's coming from. I get the impression it occurs when a Trait/effect expires, rather than gets activated. It's a very brief effect, though.

No idea what it is but try removing those below as red colour normally is tac or command buff or debuff. It not likely the gear. Hope it helps.

    Accurate
    Efficient Captain
    Operative
    Projectile Training
    Demolition Teams
    Torpedo Prefire Sequence
Aux Power Config (Off & Def)
    Precision

Definitely not any of those ones scored out.

Did think it was the Terran core, as the extra power buff expires. But couldn't recreate the effect on a ship using that core. As the colour is orange, which usually is the Terran stuff.
  • tom61stotom61sto Member Posts: 3,676 Arc User
Ya, I've been doing it one by one, but it's hard to know if it's actually been disabled because it sometimes doesn't appear. There's been no patter I could identify (yet).

I've posted a video of the PATTON in action and it happens a couple of times. Maybe it'll be more helpful than a still.

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=2EYtxtKs_rc&feature=youtu.be

Weird. Like the others it reminds me of the Terran set, but I don't think the core by itself has this effect, though. Hmm... do you happen to have any of the other parts on your shuttlecraft? Sometimes stuff on a small craft will interact with stuff on your main ship. Also, if you upload another video, showing your gear, Traits, and DOff screens could help. Also, switch your powerbar to 1 setting to show numbers instead of bars.

All Hands on Deck is brief blue spark on different points of your hull. Pretty small and easy to miss.
I tried swapping out my specializations, and it still does it. Going to try removing each piece of gear one at a time, but that's going to take a while to test.

Sure would be nice if a dev would come in and tell us what it is...

Any ideas @ambassadorkael#6946 ? I'm not sure which department it would be best to ask. Help us, oh wise and wonderful CM.

I've been told it's likely a trait of some kind, but it wasn't designed by the powers designer I share an office with so he's not sure.

Also what Specilizations are you running. :)

Just to make sure, do you get them while solo or in a team? Could it be a command ability from a teammate (not a Command Boff ability, a Command Inspiration ability)?
