Answering my own question: It would appear to be different in that I cannot change the appearance of the Groupees Holo-Leeta. She defaults to Mirror Leeta and doesn't give me an option to change her appearance.
I never had a Leeta before, but I cannot change the appearance of this new one, either. Which is rather sad, as Dabo Leeta has the exact same face as Empress Leeta (who is decidedly much older).
Now I'm even wondering why I got her in the first place, as she has no SRO Trait, so I can't really use her anyway.

Says I've got 0 points. I have a receipt for buying zen in my email. I'm not sure why unless I bought it too soon. I got it Thursday morning just after they posted the announcement. Too early maybe?
yeah, apparently the sale didn't actually start until noon Friday. You should ask nicely of customer service to see if they can help.
...fair enough to use steam to launch sto if that's the way you want to go but buying zen through steam seems like more trouble then its worth.
Because it is only 2 mouse clicks to buy through Steam. One to click "Buy Zen" on the Z-store page, a second one to confirm purchase. Done. Zen appears instantly. I tried to purchase through Arc once. Never again.

They responded that they are aware of the problem and that it happened to several people and will be looking into it.
Most likely the "big boys" who fix stuff won't be in until Monday morning anyway.

I did get to choose which Leeta I wanted, but you can't change her appearance at the Tailor. I was able to reclaim her, though.

Ah! So, there's the answer in the description. The first Holo-Leeta from the Groupees promotion says that it displays the Mirror Leeta Admiral outfit only and doesn't mention any option of the Dabo Leeta outfit. So, this version of Holo-Leeta gives the appearance options.

I always thought it was odd that the Dabo Leeta was pictured with this BOFF even though that costume option isn't available with this version of the BOFF. It's essentially the same BOFF, except without the extra costume option. It's a shame really, because I'd like to use the Dabo version on more of my characters.

you may just be lucky with steam but as I said before I have seen an awful lot of comments regarding players having problems when buying zen through steam and this would be enough to put me off if I ever buy zen in the future.

The point values don't seem to match what they said on the website advertising them.
It's kinda irrelevant for me, since I own the Regent and Hestia, and the only interesting thing would have been to claim the lower tier values several times, but that doesn't work either.
System needs work.

As many as I need to to find out how what went wrong, and to give some clarity to my support ticket!
That would be an injustice as all I am doing is voicing my displeasure. They can't ban for that.
