I kind of do a bit perhaps but rather take more inspiration from other films, series or even RL.
My Bajoran Fighter Pilot for example is a mix of Ensign Ro, Ezri Dax and Serina from the BSG original. That way she can dish out 180k cannon deepz while being funny and looking cute at the same time.
My human main on the other hand is heavily inspired by John Connor as portrayed by Christian Bale in Terminator 4 but not like Huey, Dewey, and Louie in the other films of that franchise. He and his team currently hold the NTTE speed record in the metal league. Hasta la vista, baby!
I hope this answers your question OP.
While we are at it, I’d really love to hear about the toon inspiration of some other guys around here.
I don't recreate canon Trek characters (with the exception of Seven of Nine, because I have her as a character on Star Trek Trexels) because I don't consider them 'my' characters to be using...
My inspirations do come from many sources though... Apologies for the multitude of phone pics, the process of getting a screenshot from my loan PC to a platform which I can easily upload is too time consuming to undertake for a discussion post where multiple examples are used...

Not really - they were usually great characters and I don't feel a need to make my own characters a continuation of that cause it would be hard to do right to them.
My characters should be my own and build a reputation of their own through
-their performance in team content
-the roles they play
-the stories I have in mind for them
and finally: the linking of characters. I have some Boffs that are also unique characters, and my biographies sometimes refer to other ones. I've also given different ships the same name to pretend they're working together and such. And I have one liberated Borg who was named after my main, who liberated her.
So no, I don't model my characters after characters from the shows. But most of them are related to each other somehow.
No not really, kinda what strikes my fancy, though my Main fed toon was as close as I could get to myself for craps and giggles.

Most of my characters are inspired by characters from movies... for example:
Ixion Veridian - Sean Connery (Hunt for Red October) V'Tari - Grace Park (BSG Reimagined) I'ndari - Dina Meyer (ST Nemesis) Ikonn - Russel Crowe (Master and Commander...) Cheryl Vorlois - Female version of Bruce Boxleitener (Babylon 5) K'Tevok - Michael Ansara (Star Trek "Original") Vanessa Sheridan - Kate Beckinsale (Total Recall)
Those and my others are patterened after personalities, mannerisms, etc. and does make my gaming experience a bit more enjoyable.

Thanks, I used that pic for illustration, simply as it best showed the angles of Gabrielle Drake's features (and as Illya's an AoY captain, it seemed fitting for his crew to equally be 'of the era'
I modeled my main after myself too even down to my height. For some reason the average height for a human is very tall in the 25th century so I look short compared to everyone.
As for my crew I tried to recreated the main characters from the game Freelancer. Trent and King were easy. Juni was alot harder but they turned out pretty cool.
Admittedly my medical officer is inspired by a girl on I had a crush on in high school. I didn't recreate her one for one or use her name because that would have been to creepy for me.
Exception is my "Ace" Rimmer toon, based on Arnold J. Rimmer's alternate self, who was a mix of Captain Kirk and Maverick from Top Gun, and the Boff's are all Red Dwarf Characters.....Lister, the Cat, Kryten, Kochanski, and Mcgruder.
Original characters myself, adapted to Trek. Though for some, I also have a bit of crossovers going on, so my toons have boffs based on the crew from 1960's sitcom McHale's Navy, and G.I. Joe. For added fun, I name some of my ships after Transformers, and "paint' them accordingly in the ship tailor, implying that they transform into giant robots!
Resident TOS, G.I. Joe, Transformers and hair metal fangirl.
Well, I modeled my captain after my character in XIV (who is modeled after my character in XI) but my crew is modeled after a few different aliens save one who I keep as my token human (no, it's not Elisa Flores).
I'm just a Red Dwarf fan girl.
Ha. When I got the Photonic Science Officer that was originally part of the "recruit a friend" program, I named him Arnold J. Rimmer. How could you not?
"I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am."
Hell I even made toons from different Genres. My main Rom character is an Alien I got as close as I could to a Githrezai, My Fed Science toon is from Star Wars, Dejah Duare.
Just a few things I do from time to time.

I guess I can say this ...
I didn't realize it at first, but when it hit me I was just shocked, and then a bit thoughtful about the human subconscious.
My main Fed looks a lot like an old girlfriend of mine. Even the personality in the bio could fit. I was really hung up on this lady, but our time was not meant to last. Not that I mind in retrospect. It is kind of weird to me though. I guess you never really get all the way over people even if you are happy where you are now.
I had developed the character for the old FASA game years ago (like so many others I have). I didn't see it then either, but the description, and the given mannerisms were so like her's, now that I look back.
Then I remember talking about why I had so many characters and where I got my ideas for them from, and as I was going through them, bang! I don't know if my jaw dropped open for real, but mentally it sure did.
