Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

well, hopefully they'll just keep it confined to a few skirmishes this time around and quinn and the diplomacy brigade will manage to talk them down in the arc finale
maybe it's not even the tzenkethi themselves but a radical group and we'll get some assistance from the legit government and military

Typhoon pact? I could see that.. Anyone else think the Breen might take up an issue of a federation fleet base in thier back yard?
K13 is a stone throw from them
Unless I can play as one I could care less. Im still pissed we cant play as a voth. It just doesnt make sense to me to have all these ships and technology of these races but not be able to play as them.
Yeah that's definitely a disappointment, to see one of the oldest and most interesting and advanced cultures being reduced to something that serves mainly as targeting practice or just a nice source of dilithium.
It's always been like that in American culture.
If you can't kick their but, it ain't good.
God forbid, the US should fail once...
Klingons don't get drunk.
They just get less sober.
Enh, They never actually attacked the Feds in the TV show. Picard's negotiations with the Talarian captain may have been rather tense, but he talked to the guy in person.
No exact date, but Ben Sisko whilst aboard the Starship Okinawa fought in the Federation-Tzenkethi War (DS9 "Paradise Lost"). They were also mentioned in DS9 "By Inferno's Light" by Garak and in DS9 "The Adversary" a Founder posing as Ambassador Krajensky seized control of the Defiant with intention of attacking a Tzenkethi settlement.
So they are a canon race.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I could see something like a typhon pact type arc come about, with some of the races that are not too friendly with the members of the alliance getting into a mutual defense alliance of sorts. As they might see the advances that the members of the alliance, as well as the enemies defeated by them, as being a worrying fact for their own ability to protect themselves on their own. As well as a fact of keep their independence from these groups in the future, though I would hope it would be more of a small scale guerrilla/skirmishing type of conflict over a outright war.
The Tzenkethi got a fair bit of attention in the Typhon Pact novel series, although the novels are a mixed bag to begin with so I haven't a clue on how much Cryptic would actually use from those novels, if anything for that matter.
If there is anything I want to see "borrowed" from the Typhon Pact novels, it's how the Federation got weakened by its last big war (the Borg) and several powers are taking advantage of that weakened state.
We are in a similar position now in STO having just fought the Iconian War and the Temporal War shortly after. I would have wanted to see more member worlds in need of aid, stranded ships in need of rescue, pirates looting war-torn areas or nearby powers (like the Tzenkethi) making power grabs.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
Tzenkethi are going to be a interesting species since they are going to be finally seen and not 'heard' of unless the new TV Series is going to involve the Tzenkethi. But I would highly doubt that.
I think the only reason why the Tzenkethi destroyed 20 Draconis was because of the Starfleet Influence and they know Starfleet hardly ever breaks its Prime Directive so this was the Tzenkethi's way to clean the slate and help the Federation of the breaking of the Prime Directive.
The Rising of the Delta is the best expansion ever, and people love it to death because it is a good day to die in the endless struggle for supremacy of your own conviction. (A spin off of the Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and all the players love it.)

Isn't that like curing the flu with a flamethrower?
Yes, isn't that always the case or tryin' to cure the common cold with a ICBM.
It would be nice to know their reasons in destroyin' 20 Draconis besides my guess.

Also the Tzenkethi apparently didn't bother messing with the space station in orbit. If they were trying to erase Federation influence they would have blown it up.
I look forward to seeing the Tzenkethi and I hope we'll see more talked about but never seen alien species in the future. I want to see the Hur'q in the Gamma Quadrant and the Fen Domar in the Delta Quadrant.
I am not sure that the Tzenkethi directly caused the explosion, since for all we know maybe the feds on the station stole the protomatter device/bomb along with other items from them, and then hid it on the planet in the stewardship of these people they made contact with. Then after centuries of searching for the device an other things they took found them on this world an caused the explosion somehow, though I could see also the people on the world accidently setting off the device, also it seemed they might have been revering the device as something almost divine.

I think a storyline like that would be put to better use with the Cardassians and the True Way.

Yeah, this.
I wan't to learn about the species, rather than killing them for the sole purpose of them being the next bad guys.
