Game keeps crashing - Nvidia problem?

This usually happens when the game is actually idle, when I step away to grab a drink or snack or something and am gone a bit longer than usual.

I'm actually wondering if it's on my end. I recently updated my Nvidia drivers, and the problem wasn't happening then. However, I don't think it was happening before the recent patch either.

Here's the error code I keep getting.

fatal error: Direct3D Driver returned error code (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED) while presenting. Reason: 0x887a0006 (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG)

I might try and reinstall the drivers. It's just such a PITA.

    I'm back after having reinstalled my Nvidia Drivers, and everything is all fresh and up to date.

    And the game crashed in the character selection screen on the first attempt to open it up after the reinstall.

    It's not on my end.

    Okay, the problem went away for a few days, but now it's back, sort of. Now, instead of crashing when I'm idle in the game for a few minutes, it seems that the game crashes whenever I "tab out" to do something else on my computer, such as check the forums. It's never done that before, until a few weeks ago.

    As mentioned, I've uninstalled and reinstalled my Nvidia drivers a few times now, but the problem persists. I'm running Windows 10 - which is up to date.

    Anyone else having problems with the game running with Nvidia cards?

    The problem I am having is the game does not detect my Nvidia GPU at all.

    I'm having similar problems with my nVidia GPU -- freezes and crashes, particularly if I try to tab out (or use the Windows key to tab out). Switching to/from fullscreen/windowed mode doesn't seem to help.

    Also, when I try to choose 1920 x 1200 resolution, STO overscans -- that is, I see only 1/4 of the game screen, as if STO thinks my monitor is 6 feet wide. How can I fix this?

    driver version? I am on 372.54 no issues of such..

    Same here. I've noticed I don't have any problems when I'm mucking around in the Foundry. I can go in and out of the game without any issues - even when I'm in 'game mode'.

    Which DX version d you use?
    My pc is unstable with DX11, but runs without difficulties with DX9 while i also have a Nvidia card.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    DX11. I've never really had any problems running 11, even though my machine is a bit older. STO has run fine with it as well.

    Strill crashing while tabbed out of game after upgrading to 373.06. Only seems to happen on certain image intensive websites though. It's easy enough to avoid those sites, but again, I didn't start having this issue until recent patches. Running Firefox as my default browser.

    Run a memory stress test. This looks like a memory issue for me.
