I was having a look at the new graphics on tribble when I noticed this awful change, for some reason they have decided that the camera needs to be higher in shooter mode ,this takes away all views that replicate mass effect or similar shoulder view style,I reallllly hope there is an option to choose or change the point of view when this goes live on 25th oct.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

Used to be that as long as you could actually see a part of an opponent, you could shoot him. Was used quite a bit in Cure ground when the boss would start popping those stupid cover shields. I was able to headshot him despite the covershields being in the way because I could still "see" and thus target and hit him in shooter mode.
Also... Shooter Mode probably gives an option for a more action oriented feel to the game rather than just RPG controls, and in certain instances, you can get a damage buff from shooter mode from items (Crossfire Tribble buff).
How in the hell can you play without it?
Seriously.. Shooter mode gives you way better control in combat. I use normal mode for walking around and interacting, but as soon as the fighting starts it's right into shooter mode.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it sucks.
Seriously though, they keep putting in 'fixes' that TRIBBLE with shooter mode. You used to be able to save a control scheme for normal mode and a different binding for shooter mode, now that no longer works. Well, it does work.. it just resets itself at any random time it pleases.
I hope they don't permanently change the camera perspective, that would be a change for the worse in my opinion. At least make it an option.
That's the entire reason I use shooter mode, so I don't have to rely on the faulty targeting system. I just aim my gun and what I want dead and fire.
Oh, you're on console? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they only have shooter mode.
I could see shooter mode function far better for consoles though, UI is much more streamlined. I mean Neverwinter had a really nice UI for action combat, but it never found its way into STO, too bad.
^this was my reaction
Fair enough, for most things I agree.. I just use 'Shooter Mode' in combat. Usually when I'm not fighting I drop back into regular mode.
It took me a bit to get used to, but once I played with Shooter Mode for a bit I felt it gave me better control in fights. Of course, everyone has their preference, but the way Cryptic is going, soon there will be only one option. Seems like any updates they do to anything ground related always breaks Shooter Mode. Apparently, the Dev staff doesn't use it either because they surely don't test it.
If you need to use mouse for abilties, you are doing it wrong :P I'm used to have all abilities on keybinds, muscle memory does it way quicker then mouse
This post pretty much sums up the way I play.
Edit: OH GOD WHAT HAVE THEY DONE.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Keybinds require nothing more then a simple text file put in your STO directory. There are 3rd party programs that create the file for you, but beyond that, binds do not require additional software.
Personally, I put all my buffs in Tray 7 on ground combat and I use a space bind to fire them. I put situational things like Shield Charges, Hypo Spray etc on Mouse buttons or on another key that's easy to use.
It's really pretty easy to do, took me a couple min to set up and works great for me. Everyone has their own style though, people should do what works for them. Still, for many.. Shooter Mode is a very viable way to play ground combat.
By keybinding I meant assigning abilities to slots on hotbar and using keys on keyboard to activate them. I'm not even using macros, just plain hitting keys on keyboard. At first it might seem hard but I can run, shoot and use abilities all at same time flawlessly.
Exactly
i dont konw how you can play ground parts on rpg mode.. i never suspected that people was not using the shooter mode...
