No, that just means the Nova is even further out because there are now at least two potential ship candidates that need to be released before it.
And it's still very speculative. I coudn't even identify if there was an actual difference on the tooltip. I guess the set bonus is new? Maybe it's just a hint for something that exists on consoles but not on PC yet?

It says "any advanced research vessel" - this happened to the Exploration Cruiser shortly before it's T6 announcement. It is possible that they just reworked the tooltip to shorten it, but in the past these changes only happened prior to a T6 announcement

Is the only reason anyone's interested in the Nova class because it was in Endgame, the first part of which was set at the same time period as that which STO is set?
Personally, I don't get it. I'm not interested in the Nova any more than the Intrepid- unless you're seriously into sci powers, sci ships simply suck.
On the other hand, I'm naturallyvery interested in a T6 Sovereign. The imperial skin on that thing is freaking badass- they should give it a 5-3 layout but retain the restriction against DHCs on cruisers. That's the best way of distinguishing it from other cruisers that I can think of.

Unless you're really into engineering powers, cruisers suck. Unlses you're really into tactical powers, escorts suck!
Science Vessels are awesome. Space Magic is fun.
But I suspect you might be in a majority opinion. Seems Space Wizards are not the most popular. But we're trying to be the most vocal here, so pssht. Also, we already have approximately a gazillion Cruisers. (And way too many are Command Cruisers. They really need to invent a new spec that also works thematically for Cruisers. After they've made more Science vessels.)

Yeah, why bother re-writing the tooltip at all if you're not changing it?
I'm pretty sure this 'list' of old ships just waiting to be re-sold at T6's exists only in the minds of players. They have rather a lot of other things to look after like entirely new T6 ships to populate new missions and stuff into lock boxes. The T6 Sovereign looks less like a list incrementing and much more like a target of opportunity created when the Attack Wing people wanted to test out their new painting process.

The Nova class' first appearance was in 'Equinox'. The USS Rhode Island seen in 'Endgame' was a refit of the class.
As for the rest of your statement, I could simply re-word your (extremely subjective) comments to: Personally, I don't get it. I'm not interested in the Sovereign any more than the Odyssey - there are more than enough cruisers to choose from. Crusiers suck.
On the other hand, I'm naturallyvery interested in a T6 Nova. The Rhode Island skin on that thing is freaking badass- they should give it the standard 3-3 layout but add auxiliary phaser beam arrays and the pilot specialisation. That's the best way of distinguishing it from other science ships that I can think of.
Without meaning to sound insulting, saying what basically amounts to "your favorite ship sucks but my favourite ship is awesome" is a tad naïve. And science doesn't suck just because you don't like it.
Heck, I'd wager that a decent player who really knows how to fly a Nova class (probably not me) could show you a trick or two. And trust me - whilst it may not hit as hard as the Sovereign it'll run rings around it in terms of manouverability and you'd probably be surprised at what a little minx she can be.
I'm perfectly well aware that the first appearance of the Nova was in Equinox, my point was that the Rhode Island was in service about 5 years after the events of STO, so chronologically it's the closest fit and just about the only glimpse of ship design from that period.
It should be pointed out that in Equinox, that ship actually did suck compared to Voyager, even taking into account its battle-damaged state. As a result, the devs are going to have an extremely difficult job of balancing any T6 Nova against the current Long Range Science Vessel, since if they're going to stay true to the show then by definition the Nova must be inferior. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't since there will be backlash from either the Nova fans or Intrepid ones. So if I have no interest in the Intrepid, why would I shell out for a ship that's by all indication likely to be worse?
You could reword it that way but it wouldn't make any sense- feel free to point out where I said there were more than enough sci ships knocking around. Had I mentioned a ship that wasn't relevant to the discussion you might have a point. Though your idea of giving the ship pilot specialisation might actually work- it's already the right size and shape. Having that thing perform barrel rolls would certainly add a novelty factor. Give it a special console to boost speed and turn rate further and you might have something worthwhile.
I could see them updating the heavy cruiser/Cheyenne/Dakota/Stargazer class to a tier six, and giving it a pilot Lieutenant to lieutenant com seat as it already with it's quite compact styled design. An quite happy to hear they are making a tier six advanced science vessel, though I could see it getting a command and/or temporal seating.
Another odd thing I noticed is that the tooltip is labeled "Starfleet" advanced research vessel.

I agree. But signs are pretty clear at this point, unless they decide to change the T3 Nebula console completely into a "Tachyon Field Particle Emitter" it is a new console and it's reasonable to assume it comes with a new ship.
Then again, it's also reasonable to assume they change the T3 console, because it's really useless. It does the same as the T5 console, only worse. In general, the Nebula's consoles and set bonus (according to Reddit derived from Tribble, it's a tiny +acc and drain expertise) are in STOs current state the most useless you can think of. But us Nebula lovers love her not because of her console

I always figured the Strategist specialization would make for a good cruiser themed spec if (when) they elevate it to a primary.
