Like all things, it is a matter of opinion. Some people like stuff that most people would gouge out their eyes if they encountered it. So without knowing your personal tastes, then it is impossible to determine if it is what you consider to be a good game.
It's got nice graphics and sound, also what i get it's more simulator type of game...
The most problem that people have with it is that you have to be ready for loosing any ship and gear that you use at any moment when flying in space - even in (theoretically) safe sectors - PvP is always on, so old players Pirate clans and Corporations can "farm" newbie players for loot.
And skills range for "free" players are reduced - which cut them out of most powerfull ships and gear (including crafting - i think the planet colonisation needs "Remote sensing" skill which is not an F2P skill so they are reduced to asteroid mining and manufacturing on stations).
Still - (for now at least) i heard there is possibility to buy Premium Account time for in-game currency.
Whats your source? I love when people try to make up numbers based on feelings rather than on data.
Unless something has changed recently CCP publish all of Eve online numbers and there is a player tracker when you log into Eve saying how many people are online and there are also websites that record the player numbers into graphs.
Not looked recently but when I was active Eve had around 20k to 30k online at the same time and peaks over 50k along with around 350k subscriptions on 1 sever and 500k subscriptions across all servers.
Eve online does seem to have around x10 more players then STO. Another way to look at it Eve can get more players in a fleet fight in 1 sector then STO gets on 1 planet across all instances for an event.
