Updating issue, of sorts.

I'm on a metered connection and can't spare the bandwidth to update the game weekly, however I do have a netbook that, while it can't play the game at all, can download updates. However, copying the updated client back to my gaming machine seems to do nothing; it still insists on updating.
As far as I can tell, when the client is copied over, the current version info doesn't come with, so the launcher thinks it's out of date and downloads.
So my question is, where does the STO client save its current version data? If I can copy that over, and it works, I can play but if I'm going to be forced to download up to 1GB every week, my hiatus will have to continue.
