I'm glad it makes sense to somebody. Having all those shuttles come out during the first 5 minutes of the 2009 movie gave me that idea.

I like that idea; make the Newton a carrier and the Kelvin (whatever class it is - I'm calling it the Kelvin-class for now) a science vessel.
I think the Kelvin is referred to as a Einstein Class in the book 'Federation: The First 150 Years'. I haven't read it but I saw the Memory Beta article.
