Thats funny, i saw it on the first session of the first day it came out, and from my opinion, its by far the best star trek movie ever made, spoke to the rest of my fleetmates and even they said it was such a wow movie and how much they loved it alot, so dont know whether you have seen it or not op, but so glad i did and will gladly add it to my vast star trek collection when it comes out on dvd for watching many times over again in the future...
Really? I thought that aside from the heavy action pace in the film, it was great. I mean, the plot was fairly simple and all, but I was really, really satisfied with the film. I liked how they kind of dipped into Starfleet's mission and what it feels like from the perspective of an old general to be left behind.
No real plot, but that does not matter much. No character development, no big deal either. If I go into the flaws it would be too much. I really wonder what people like about it? The old ship? The fact that 3/4 takes place on the ground? Please tell, perhaps I missed stuff. But I guess the game is going toward jjtrek anyways, so why not.

No Character Development? Kirk found himself in that movie, Spock and McCoy's respect for each other improved...
No Real Plot? Someone who legit hates the Federation (and has his own reasons) tries to use a weapon against it and the Enterprise Crew have to improvise to win. And that's without putting anything in that would spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet!
Star Trek isn't JUST about flying in space. 90% of Star Trek 4 was on Earth! So the argument about it taking place on the ground is pointless.
I saw it the night before the premier with my wife and two people from work and their wives. Everyone enjoyed it. Good homage to TOS as well.
Hope they add Jaylah's Species to the game.

As much as I respect the attempt, there is no point in trying to convince someone that's already decided they hate something.
All your points are correct of course, but it's not like the OP is going to suddenly change his mind. He obviously went into the movie determined to hate it and he made it happen. Obviously from his points on the movie, he either didn't actually see it or didn't give it any type of real chance.

Perhaps instead of simply saying it was bad, you should actually give a full explanation on why you didn't like the movie. Don't hand wave it away by saying it will take too much time, or you have too many critiques, because nobody will take you seriously if you act that way. If you do in fact want to see why people like this film, why don't you dig through the Ten Forward threads related to this film. A lot of people have posted their opinions on this film in those threads.

The game has always been like 'jjtrek'. At first I didn't like it (I still prefer other movies over 2009 and ID) but having it in the game didn't really bother me and might bother you less once you accept that the game isn't really that different from the Kelvin timeline. We're all cowboys in space, there's almost no exploration and diplomacy only plays a minor role.
In other words: while I still think that 2009 was too much generic action and that it damaged some important and recognisable aspects (like Spock and Vulcan as a whole) of the franchise, complaining that you don't want to see it in the game is a bit silly.
Stuff based on a generic action movie would fit in well in this game.
Edit: and that's ok. The featured episodes and the foundry have some good stories, but in the end this is an MMO which focuses on action and combat. I don't see the problem of adding stuff from a pew pew heavy-movie to a pew pew-heavy game.

sorry i have to disagree but in my humble opinion the title of best star trek movie ever made is owned by star trek II the wrath of khan.

Thanks. Sure seems like he's set on having us believe the way he does so... counterargument. I actually wasn't even going to bother with this thread at all. Just report and move on. But that one line though... It kinda demanded a response.
Also gotta keep up my rep as the reasonable one on the forums.
This hipster's mind was already made up. Presenting facts and truth just confuses him. The best way to deal with people like this is to simply ignore them. After all, this isn't about Star Trek, or even STO, at all. It is really all about him and how he is trying to both convince us and justify to himself that he matters more than we do. This infantile raving is merely a sign of someone who never gets enough attention in his own mind.
Let him and his sycophants, and there will be sycophants, rant and rave. The rest of us have more important things to do.

I hope they add Jaylah to the next film as Checkov's replacement.

Star Trek Beyond is, to date, the best movie in the Kelvin Timeline, period. By orders of magnitude. The comparison is almost unfair.
Not just that, but it actually manages to stand as a pretty damn good Trek movie on its own.
I am incredibly pleased they let Simon Pegg help write it, because he really helped pack in some really good Trek moments. I hope they allow him to continue writing for the KT era films.
Yeah, it's still got a good dose of action in it, but honestly other than ST: TMP, which Trek movie hasn't? If that is a complaint one is going to levy against the KT era Trek movies, be prepared to also point that accusation at every Trek movie since Wrath of Khan. I mean, let's be real here.
But again, Beyond was a really fun watch, had a lot of really good Trek moments and references, and by and large, has started to salvage the opinion of the KT era films in the eyes of People Who Take Their Trek Seriously.
Here's hoping the next one is just as good, or better.

I thought Beyond was supposed to be the last movie? Or are there more being planned?

4th movie already announced.
Insert witty signature line here.

If they put any more JJ trek items or gear or ships in the game that's fine. JJ trek missions, no thank you.
STO is and has always been a game grounded in the Prime Timeline, and should stay that way.
if people want shinies from JJtrek they should be able to get their toys, but keep STO's character in the Prime Universe like it should be.

he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

You're so edgy. Can you teach me to be cool like you? How much black clothing should I buy? How much should I hate my parents?
Haters gotta hate.

A 4th movie was announced because of positive response to Beyond.
Spoiler below.
But I did like where Spock pulled out the picture of the old crew. That was the best part for me.
That's all I will say. Mods can move this to the appropriate sub forum.
