I'm totally fine with special rewards for special players. But the least they could do is to publish the criteria under which somebody is eligible to get one.
other people having some thing that I don't have doesnt diminish me or my enjoyment of the game
I think it's less that he did not get the ship at least not yet but the general way this is handled and to be honest may also the state of the game.
The state of the game has never been better though.
Agreed - it must be in a good state for the Devs to feel comfortable enough to offend some long-standing players.
They can't do everything just based on who will have a tantrum about it.
So many people just go along looking for things to shriek SLAP in the FACE about that it must be frustrating and disheartening.
I don't get it either. I'd like to think my support for STO (warts and all) has been unwavering, but a higher power has decided it isn't. Not a big deal. Some people get exclusive things, some people don't.
I think it'd be nice if we knew more about the pre-reqs, but I don't feel particularly outraged.
Just checking my paypal over the last year.
I've actually spent 1230$, but only 20$ since Jan 2016.
There's also 2012, 2013, 2014 that I've not checked, where I spent a TRIBBLE load of money.
So just estimating here, near 8k on this game since 2012.
I guess that's not good enough to qualify. I guess this means I'm just a dirty, rotten, leeching hobo, dragging down their servers with my unwanted presence.
At least that's how I feel now. Thanks a lot Cryptic.
Ah Cryptic. You sure know how to unmotivate your playerbase so well...
Not too bothered by this one (Though it would still be nice to have..), as I could never decide which of my chars would get it..
The T6 Defiant you gave out a while ago offended me more, which meant I will never buy that ship.
I don't get why you do these things, but much like a parent that only rewards one child in the family over the others, it will continue to cause problems for you...
it will certainly unmotivate me to spend any more money unless the ship becomes available in the C-store..or as an event ship and i can't see it NOT. it's too big a cash cow
It was an Andromeda and the T6 Defiant who's actual name I can't remember right now, unless they ran 3 promos like that, and the one that is new to me was an Avenger.
But, really? Ok, so you managed to spend thousands on a videogame. So? You didn't just give Cryptic gifts -I presume- but you bought virtual items which they provided as obligated by the contract of sale they offered and you accepted.
Why do Cryptic have to justify who they decide to give a gift to? If they decide they want to give a ship to someone for supporting the game, that changes nothing for you, because it doesn't say you haven't supported the game, and the recipient didn't do anything in particular to get it. Now, if they hypothetically stuck the ship in the C-Store and you bought it and it didn't deliver, then you could complain; but as it is you are complaining for Cryptic being generous to a group of players of an unknown at our end link together.
Complaining that Cryptic ought to notify at a general level that they are doing this promotion, and that you should update your address on Arc games so that they know where to send the items is logical, and yes, it would be nice if they told us what the conditions are.
But complaining at them for being generous is just... wrong. Or do you also complain at the freebies they do sometimes? I mean, you are literally complaining because someone else was given a gift here...
This has a lot of people, myself included confused as hell. I mean, what does one have to do to be considered a "loyal" player?
Like many, I've been around since beta. I bought 4 copies of the game when it first launched. I bought a lifetime subscription when it first became available. I have bought every single expansion related bundle pack, not to mention countless other ship bundles. This year alone I spent almost $1000 on zen. So what's the deal?
Well Well just been confirmed by some1 on Facebook in the STO online group that 2nd code does not work. So that is even more of a kick in the teeth for those that didnot recieve a code at all that a bunch of codes have been wasted being. By being sent out to the 1 account twice. this is really terrible Customer service as well as extremely bad PR on cryptics behalf.
OK ... I found my way to the old Cryptic page where you could see all of the things you unlocked for your account (just for sh$$s and grins) and this is what I had:

It doesn't have my Delta or AoY packs, but I don't think it would. The extras were for different giveaways at different retailers.
and I think I've spent over $1000 in the last 8 months, including the large AoY pack, so I'm not sure what they are basing it on.
I'm just disappointed that with all the $$ I've spent that I'm not considered a "Loyal" STO player and I think this gets me madder than not getting the ship ......

Yeah, not going to even try to count up how much I have spent since closed beta, including LTS, but if my money isn't as good as someone else's, then that is fine by me.
I'll just redirect the funds I use for this game to the other games I play. Not once have I felt this way playing SWTOR and Guild Wars2, so I guess they are more deserving of my funds...

I'll be curious to hear what the folks at "TheShow" (( Odenknight & crew )) have to say about this PR fiasco. It seems extremely random on who got or did not get that ship. The unknown qualifications and complete TRIBBLE level of communication is a mix for this is gonna leave a sour taste in the Community for a long time. Not to mention that some got swag bags with the ship while others only merely got the ship. Further leads to the frustrations and angry rage by the masses.
I've been a Life sub for a few years, taken my share of breaks from the game. Spent well over a grand over the years and didn't get the ship. Am I sad or suprised no. Am I upset or mad ? Nope. When it comes to these sorts of promotions I set the bar extremely low, and go into expecting to not win anything. Then when I don't end up with the shiny I'm not bitter, sad or disappointed. There better things in life to get mad over. A silly ship of pixels in a virtual game isn't one of them.
I do feel for those of us who have spent 100's if not several thousands in support of this game and got jack. So no it's not cool Cryptic not cool. Does it make me want to re think how much I continue to invest in sto ? in the short term certainly! Long term that's up in the air. But I can surely feel why several who didn't get the ship and have been loyal supporters and missed out on the ship. Feel this is a ball buster and slap in the face from Cryptic.
... Reading all these comments I feel guilty winning it now
You should not feel guilty. Cryptic entered a bunch of players into a raffle and that determined who got what. I'm not sure why they would not come out say that. "Here are the lucky winners, and thanks everyone for supporting Star Trek Online!"
I guess they want to avoid the "there is no limit on virtual goods! everyone should get something!" backlash.
Needless to say disappointed. I have spent thousands and been an LTS subscriber since nearly the beginning. I have played thousands of hours over that same time and login multiple times a week. I can't imagine what the criteria are or were to get this. It's almost insulting as if my contribution to the games success isn't good enough. Oh well... What are you going to do? :-/

Well, I'll get over this - its insulting, but I'll get over it.
I do maintain, as I said earlier, that I won't be spending money on this game. The one exception being if they release a T6 Nova class (which is looking rather unlikely to be honest).
It was an Andromeda and the T6 Defiant who's actual name I can't remember right now, unless they ran 3 promos like that, and the one that is new to me was an Avenger.

No - we're complaining because the people who received the gift didn't do anything that most of the rest of us didn't do to receive it. Again Persons A and B did exacly the same thing. Person A was rewarded for it, person B was ignored. It isn't very nice.
I bolded the relevant bit of my post - you did get what you paid for, (heck, in your case you managed to buy the Temporal pack before they'd even announced it was available to buy) both people did.
Now, I'll grant that being autistic I don't perceive social situations like a normal person; I wish I did, it would make my life a thousand times easier, and that isn't exaggerating, sadly. But while I can see a potential slander, I can't see an insult: the slander being that, if A and B supported equally and only one got the stuff, and there was then the claim that the one without had not supported as much; and I can't see any explicit statement of that nature here.
I've added up my purchases, since July last year it's now £1100 which is about $1500, I got the ship, one for each email address they have on file for me. So I really don't know what's going on here, I can understand why many of you guys are pissed off, especially those that have spent way more than me. However I doubt Cryptic will explain it, all you can do is hope it's some sort of random roll of the dice and you'll get the next giveaway. Reading all these comments I feel guilty winning it now
No don't feel guilty, you didn't do anything wrong here. You're not rubbing it in peoples faces or being mean about it. You just got lucky.
I have no ill will towards the winners, and I do hope you (and the others) enjoy it and get good use out of it.
Just know a lot of us "Loyal" players would have loved to be in your shoes today.
If anyone should feel guilty its Cryptic, not a fellow player who didn't do anything wrong. Enjoy it.

I checked my spam box too, but it only contained email offers to buy Viagra pills for a cheap price.
I guess the Nagus Marauder won't be the only thing you're hard up for.
Thanks, I needed the laugh.

According to the link above I have 2375 days subbed (that should be every day since the game launched) and no ship, so that's not it.
All Cryptic has to do is say nothing and this topic will be dead in a week, replaced with the next "gripe of the day".
