An early version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) would have culminated in Captain Kirk fighting an alien disguised as Jesus, according to a new unauthorized oral history of the series.

The Fifty Year Mission by Edward Gross and Mark A Altman revealed that the show’s creator, Gene Roddenberry, worked on a number of concepts, including a time-travel adventure in which the crew attempts to stop the Kennedy assassination. But the most offbeat idea featured a shapeshifting alien that could manifest as biblical figures.

“In the climactic scene, Kirk had a fistfight with an alien who had assumed the image of Jesus Christ,” Star Trek author and screenwriter Michael Jan Friedman said. “So Kirk was slugging it out on the bridge. With Jesus.”

    Kirk has the balls to ask "what does God need with a starship" then gets Him blown up when he doesn't like His answer, therefore, Jesus is erased from existence.

    Therefore Kirk wins.

    Well before anything happens to the post for the Jesus thing, we really didn't get to see enough Pike before Jeffery Hunters untimely death. I'd always take Kirk over the other Captains because he would make a command decision in a timely manner (whilst taking advice from his senior Brideg officers) instead of yaking about it to his bridge crew for 100 nhrs or breing genrelly insipid.

    I'm curious where the Belongs In Ten Forward brigade is. Their presence is notably absent on topics such as this, making the appearances in other potentially political topics even more troubling.

    I'll go with Kirk, because the good guys usually win anyways. I wish I could have seen this. Seeing these two slug it out (regardless of it being a shape shifting alien) would have been cinematic history.

    Rap battles are a thing. Both Kirk and Kanye have released albums. Both Kirk and Kanye have been at the forefront of pop culture. Both Kirk and Kanye know they are the very best at what they do.

    It was only a matter of time before Kirk vs. Yezus became a thread. Let's just see where this cypher goes.

    I guess it would depend on which Jesus. Biblical Jesus or American Jesus. I think American Jesus would win. If it's Biblical Jesus, I'd have to hand it to Kirk.​​

    Just because something is on the internet at one url doesn't mean you have to spread it to other urls.

    If have watched all the Star trek movies

    you will know Kirk v Jesus did happen

    it is called Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)

    back when star trek was real trek and Kirk was not really old ( edit now he is really ) :dizzy:

    Sybok is a vulcan mesianic figure through out the movie

    which is basicly Star trek Jesus

    You need to grow a thicker skin.

    And it seems you did not read what the OP has stated in the opening post where one of the potential plots for Star Trek: TMP was Kirk fighting an alien disguised as Jesus.

    Oh, and not everyone in the world is religious. Atheists do exist and not everyone likes Obama.
